In case anybody doesnt know, this is a parody of the practice of indulgences in the catholic church before the protestant reformation by Martin Luther. Indulgences were basically payment for sins, money wasnt the only form of indulgence however, but it became the most controversial as it grew from a simple payment to something akin for a stock market. St Peters basilica in the Vatican City was partially funded by indulgences. The practice was of course abolished not long after the reformation.

in case you don't know why people are mentioning catholics, in the catholic church before the Protestent Reformation Jahon Tetzel starting offering indulgences, or payments for sins. In this case it's for punching someone in the face but you could probobly get paid for punching knight comander plaguefist in the face
