FYI this can be earned on a free to play account. My sub is paused and I was able to get the coins and purchase on a level 20

Moneta degli Avi is not currently warband-tradeable, meaning you have to farm out all 75 coins on one character.

The WoWHead user Streu made a great list of all the vendors you can get a coin from. I hope he/she is okay with me sharing it on here aswell.
You can either use TomTom addon (//ttpaste) or Paste addon (/paste show) to insert all of these coordinates at once.

If you haven't done so yet, you can complete the one-off quest Preservazione lunare in Moonglade to receive 25x Moneta degli Avi.

Commento di SpacemanSpliff

For those only interested in farming for this mount, there are enough coins obtained via flying around to each quest giver without having to do any of the instanced ones. And, as silkfire mentioned, you can do the Lunar Preservation quest to cut that time down quite a bit. Be sure to start that quest first so you don't have to fly all over Kalimdor twice.

Commento di Jeolene

It's neat looking, but I was really hoping it would do some new things with dragon riding. It doesn't, it simply does what nearly every other mount does. If you use whirling surge, it just spins like everything else. If you use surge forward, it just lazily leans forward a bit. I can hear some extra sounds like fireworks, but you don't actually see anything. It doesn't even have any kind of neat sound when moving. Another mostly forgettable mount.

Here's a macro for accepting/completing the quest and opening your Red Envelope. It also shows you how many Coins of Ancestry you have in your bags.

1. Click on an Elder.
2. Use the macro. This will accept and complete the quest.
3. Use the macro a second time to open your Red Envelope.
