The four types of skeletons shown drop this. Mixed in that area are also Risen Stalkers, which drop rotting hearts, but not spinal dust. I dont know if they share a spawn or not.

I also seemed to get the same approx drop rate from all four, roughly 25%, but as shown it is very skewed, is this accurate? I just killed all mobs that started with D, i didnt stick to the one with highest reported drop rate here, it worked fine for me.

I've gotten two of them, and I've killed roughly 100 of these things. I thought Cata wiped out all of the low-drop-rate quests.

hey guys i just did this quest this am 4-16-11 and the drop rate is good now at far end of scar.

North end of the scar I was getting no drops at all, Southern end I was getting them very slowly at first but the final three dropped one after the other. I'm not sure why this is such a stinky drop, they really should fix that.

I'll confirm from doing the quest only a couple days ago on an alt. The north end of the scar is worthless for these, and the rotting hearts, but both have an okay drop rate at the southern end. It doesn't feel to be a consistent rate; you'll swear to be getting nowhere and then several will drop in a row. Just hang in there!

Went to the south end by Deatholme and the Dreadbone Sentinels dropped 80% of the spinal dust. Got a maybe 1-2 from the Deathcage Sorcerers. Dropped pretty fast. But don't waste your time going to the North end, no drops.

Second what everyone else said - don't bother with north side. I went up there for all of 5 minutes before I was like "Well wowhead was right (again)"

Things are still the same: lousy drop rates at the north end, good rates near entrance to Deatholme. I got 10 spinal dusts in about 5 minutes.

Did it in 10 minutes, on the south side, near the gate. 10 Spinal Dust and 10 Rotting Hearts.

I definitely wish I had looked here first! Spent about 20 mins trying to get them on the north section of the map. Read on here to try the south end near the gate and finished all 10 in like 5 minutes! Go there!
