Whelpling Shadowflame Crests are the lowest tier of upgrade token in Dragonflight Season 2. They are created by combining 15 Frammento dell'Emblema d'Ombrofuoco del Draghetto. Whelpling Shadowflame Crest fragments are earned through multiple sources. The first kills per week of LFR Aberrus Bosses award 10, and 15 per wing-end boss. M+2 to M+5 awards 5 fragments for completing a key and 12 if the key is completed in time. World Quests, Treasures and Rares can reward between 1 and 10 fragments each. You can also buy up to 30 Whelpling Shadowflame Crest Fragments per week from Rotasoa for Moneta Profumata Dissotterrata. Players can earn 150 Frammento dell'Emblema d'Ombrofuoco del Draghetto during the first week of 10.1, and each subsequent week will increase the weekly cap by 150 so that after a few weeks, the cap will be high enough that no player will be hindered by it. Additionally, fragments earned through non-repeatable quests do not count towards this cap.
Whelpling Shadowflame Crests are used in combination with Pietre dello Stormo to upgrade Dragonflight Season 2 PvE items from item levels 402 to 411 (Adventurer rank 5/8 to 8/8 and Veteran rank 1/8 to 4/8), where one crest is required per rank upgrade. Upgrades can be carried out at any Item Upgrade NPC, including Cuzolth at /way #14022 56.6 56/ in the Zaralak Cavern.
Finally, you can trade one Emblema d'Ombrofuoco del Draco for one Whelpling Shadowflame Crest with Vaskarn at /way #14022 56.5 56.1/ in Loamm. These trades are also not counted towards the weekly Whelpling Shadowflame Crest cap.

Don't make the mistake of depositing these in your personal bank reagent tab. Or you will have to make the trip back to get them out before you can use them.

Commento di Morwo

lowest tier crest should not be soulbound, could help so many fresh chars by other whom not have any use for these any more

Commento di rgnm

I already got lots of them with which don't know what to do

Commento di Gennoken

If you have a lot of them on your main that is an Enchanter, you can send work orders from your alts to craft Enchanted Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest , then use it to craft 408 gear that doesn't require Sparks for your alts.

Commento di Qoko

Hands down the best use for Whelpling Crests is Emblema d'Ombrofuoco del Draghetto Incantato if your character is sub-408: it's a 1:1 ratio (whilst upgrading from 402 requires two!) and you can craft an optimized set.
To be more precise, you need at most 27 (324 fragments) of these to get a new character into Emblema d'Ombrofuoco del Draco upgrade territory:

Craft or work order 12 Emblema d'Ombrofuoco del Draghetto Incantato and get a set crafted, 13 with offhand (all but one ring and trinkets).
Now you need 12 more to make the jump from 408-411 (with upgradable items) on the slots for the crafted set.
Finally, 3 Crests to upgrade one trinket from 402-411, make sure to swap spots

Once all item slots are 411+, Whelping Crests are currently pointless (no BoA or fallback options).

Of course, if you obtain the first Spark (and a Enchanted Wyrm Crest from the Niffen if you're able to zerg that) you can craft your best Embellishment craft, reducing the count from the above by (at least) one.

Commento di BlooMunKy

Please make these BOA Blizz. Or at least worth more than 5 poxy gold.

Commento di Kromulok

makes no sense to me why you would purchase down instead of up. If I raid heroic, im not going to use that crest to buy whelpling ones... but seems you should be able to farm whelplings to upgrade to next tier up...

Commento di Gaffa

Psst.. Hey Blizzard.

How about:

5 x Whelplings Shadowflame Crest to get you a Drake's Shadowflame Crest.
5 x Drake's Shadowflame Crest to get you a Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest
5 x Wyrm's Shadowflame Crest to get you a Aspect's Shadowflame Crest

Gives us all a great reason to keep plowing the WQ's and dailies.

Commento di fungames

I have 117 of these on 1 mage and like 200 on another mage. What are they for? can I turn them in for rep? Whats with the unnecessary mechanics? I just wanna play the game. Why are my bags littered with trash?

Commento di fwcain

Was able to use this item as currency for purchasing an upgrade.
