I ended up with four of these during my time on the beta, but there was no clear indication of where they came from. It's not even clear if they will be a thing on retail or not, and they didn't seem to have any purpose or directly associated quest.

Edit: On live, they seem, to be coming from any event completion such as Siege, Hunt, and Soup. For now, I suggest saving these and either they will randomly vanish or they will eventually have a purpose.
Edit 2: If you're still getting these in your inventory, keep speaking up. It may be as Yodas says, and it will eventually be hotfixed or even disappear from our bags. Let us know!
Edit 3: Didn't get any more this week. They may be officially useless. Still only have 5 total.
Edit 4: Deleting them on 12/21/22 as no further information is coming about them, and no more have been dropping for me. Seems safe to toss.
Edit 5: Well darn, wish I had kept them just to see if it influenced today's quest. Catalyst-related apparently. Still, an easy quest to complete. Nightsole held onto theirs and apparently the credit carried over. Darn! :)

I got two from doing Grand Hunts in Ohn'ahran Plains (one each out of the hunt spoils bag), but no idea what they're for.

Currently receiving these randomly on retail after completing Grand hunts and (I think it was) Siege's in Waking Shores, yet still no explanation on what they are used for.

Recommend stashing away in your bank until a better understanding of their usefulness/uselessness comes about.

Since I see people saying they got this from Siege and Grand Hunts, I think it might be related to the Aiding the Accord weekly quest, when it asks you to do one of those faction activities. Dunno what triggers this quest item to appear but that's the only connecting tissue between the mentioned activities.

Just discovered: These items are what grant progress towards the Revival Catalyst.

Each coin appears to give 10% completion towards the Revival Catalyst quest.

I had 2 in my bank from previous and had 20% completion when I started the quest. I received 2 from the world boss and went to 40% and did a great hunt and received another bringing me to 50% complete.

Just got two on my Alt after switching to him to complete my last 20% with World Boss - but, i did the World Boss on my Main earlier and didnt get any... and for some reason it lowered my progress from 80% (technically 100 since i beat boss on Alt) to 40% on both toons...

These coins grant progress toward the weekly Revival Catalyst quest that allows you to turn any armor piece into one from the raid, including tier set pieces.

So far I've found these to be awarded from
- Community Feast
- Dragonbane Keep Siege
- Grand Hunts
- World Boss
- Blue elite World Quests

Now that the Revival Catalyst is live, this has a small use. After picking up the quest to complete a status bar of group content to unlock the catalyst, having this coin in my bag gave me an automatic 10% to start. At 100% -ready for turn in, I noticed that this coin was consumed and no longer in my bag.

I completed the weekly quest and have two of these in my bags on my main. Does my character having these mean that I will be 20% towards next week's catalyst quest once I pick it up?
Is it possible through these to bank progress towards future weeks?

If you're receiving these in your inventory, you can safely delete them. They're not actually meant to be an item you physically receive.
