This item comes from pickpocketing monsters around level 20. There are other lock boxes as well for higher levels with better items inside, and require a higher skill level.

This is one of the main ways a rogue gets Lockpicking skill ups. These boxes come from various humanoid monsters when pick-pocketed, and have to be lockpicked to be opened. Not only does this give skill, but it also can give a couple good things (Healing Potion, Lesser Moonstone, and Moss Agate).

I have one that I can't open. I am lvl 27 and my lockpicking is over 100 and I keep getting told its locked. Any ideas?

NVM figured it out. For any other noobs (like me) to opening a locked box..you need to open your skills book (or on one of your fast bars if you have it there) click on your pick lock icon then click on the box...voila you can open it.

These are not like the Practice Lock's made by engineers. Those can be sold on the auction house, these cannot. They also contain a few copper.

I also found a Blood Ring in this....I didn't have wowhead looter installed at that time unfortunately =/

I looted Blackvenom Blade from one of these today. I too didn't have the addon, so can't add to the statistics, but these are worth gathering and opening!

Based on the drop table created by the wowhead add-on and some of the comments here, this box seems to have a very rare chance (around 1 in 10000) of including a blue quality dagger.

Another plus for rogues!

Got Assassin's Blade today. Was level 25. So my assumption is that it drops a dagger around your level. Anyone to confirm?

Don't expect these junkboxes to be a huge money maker. Even though they have a small chance of dropping a nice B.o.E weapon, most of the boxes contain a pitiful amount of cash and if you are lucky, a poison of one kind or another.

I know its not a huge sample but I picked up 25 of these boxes during a Blackfathom Deeps run, a Stockades run and from several Ashenvale Outrunners while questing in Ashenvale and here is my total rewards;

A sum total of 17 silver 69 copper (ranging between 25 copper and 1 silver 21 copper)
1 Crippling Poison
4 Deadly Poisons
4 Instant Poisons
5 Mind-Numbing Poisons
1 Lesser Moonstone
3 Healing Potions
and 1 Small Pocket Watch

I did have a chat with a GM about Lama del Velenonero if it still drops from Rohh il Silente he said I cant give you any information on the % of the drop but he did say Rohh il Silente still does drop the Lama del Velenonero, I also asked if it still has a chance of dropping out of Cofanetto Rovinato and he said yes, you just have to be patient and again he said he could not tell me about the drop % though it is said to be 0.02% from Cofanetto Rovinato.

I have been farming stormwind stockade takes me about 3mins to pickpocket both human and Gnoll wings, these are the macros I've been using to farm Cofanetto Rovinato originally from Bubbletub's post.

Macros,

Mouseover Pickpocket

#showtooltip Pick Pocket
/stopattack
/cast Pick Pocket
/cleartarget

Reset instance:

Macro to open lockboxes, no need for mouse to suffer:

Addons,

Trashcan deletes all the unwanted loot from pickpocketing.

The ultimate challenge for starter edition twinks.
There is nothing harder then getting daggers from this boxes as lvl 20 since having no pick lock.
Even grinding 7k + keys for outland tabards not as painful as this.

As of 5-19-16 I have opened 10500 of these.
I started this grind thinking I would get it within 1000 but that is not the case.

I sadly have not even looted a single Blue item.

I shall return at 15000 boxes or hopefully sooner!

PS. I do like the Lesser Moonstones they sell fairly well.

I'm currently at 3275 boxes from farming Stockades in hopes of a lvl 19 Epic Version of Blackvenom Blade :)
