The rares who drop these mounts only yield loot for you once per day. I have created a macro to track whether they have been killed by you during this reset:

This mount first debut in 2005's Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, in which General Grievous used his personal Junkheap Drifter to try to get away from Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the end, Grievous was unsuccessful. For had Grievous won the day, Luke Skywalker would have never been trained in the ways of the Jedi arts, and would have gone on to the Imperial Academy to become a TIE Fighter pilot.

respawn can definitely be longer than 60mins. i had it respawn at about 80mins two times.

Just glad they realized their mistake. Originally the cog was going to be fixed and not rotate when you moved except for the /mountspecial command.

There is a second model of this mount, Mechacycle Model W. This is not a rare drop, it is earned by completing a very long achievement Mecha-done.

To get the achievement (and the bike), you have to complete the following:

- The Mechagonian Threat (HORDE) / The Mechagonian Threat (ALLIANCE)
- Outside Influences
- Junkyard Apprentice
- Available in Eight Colors
- Making the Mount
- Rest In Pistons
- Junkyard Architect
- Junkyard Machinist
- Junkyard Melomaniac
- Armed for Action

Okay, I finally got Chiavi Arrugginite della Motoruota delle Discariche after 680 attempts (I have 103 characters at level 120 if you do not believe my attempts are correct)
I tracked Piumaruggine spawn time on 15 different realms and for me it spawned between 40-70min

18 kills and I got it. Just by chance someone called out he spawned and I barely got there in time. Very lucky because my understanding he has a very low droprate. It's one of the best mounts they've put out in a long time in my opinion, unique model.

Looks like a 1/200 dropchance for the 3 new mounts from Soundless, Arachnoid and Rustfeather.

Gonna be a lot of waiting for them to spawn, even with use of groupfinder. Going to be even harder when the hype dies down and people stop doing "xxxx is up" groups for it.

Just wondering if this is on the drop table for any 110-119 alt characters as well. Since I have flying now I've flown a few of my under level alts out there for a few extra (for giggles) attempts and he seems to drop all the normal stuff a 120 would get. Scraps, energy cells, oscillators, and etc. Only reason I question if they can also get it is because Rustfeather's icon doesn't appear as a rare on the lower level alts.

had antigravity jetpack blueprint and the mount drop for me at the same time so they are definitely not mutually exclusive drops and keeping blueprint in your bags without turning in won't somehow boost your chance at mount

This dropped for me this morning 8/10/2019 around 10:21 AM eastern. I was playing WoW Classic, then decided to go to Mechagon and do the two World Quests before the reset. Someone called out Rustfeather and the mount dropped. So happy! :)

This dropped for me after 364 attempts this morning with 9 chars per day. So based on 0.5% drop chance I'm about 84% unlucky

My method to keep me sane and save lots of time was to use group finder, so big thanks to all those who set groups up when he spawns...

I feel REALLY bad about this...5 kills. Not joking. I was just killing doing my dailies so I can get over revered to fly. (I took a long break) I wasn't even really TRYING for it but you know what? I feel like sometimes that happens. If we *REALLY* want a mount it is SO hard to get and when we aren't really trying we get it. I feel really bad for those with over 100 kills.

Guess what though? I still can't get Blazing Drake to drop and it's my last for that achievement. I can't get the two birds to drop from Firelands, nor can I get any of the others. I FINALLY got the panther in Zul'Gurub after over a hundred kills on multiple alts. Mount farming can be very frustrating...it'll drop for you guys when you least expect it. :) Good luck to you guys!

You can get mount through mail. When you tag Piumaruggine then i don't know, you relog or something, or forgot to take loot.

Comparing about luck versus hard work: Hard work is how many times you grind something, how much you want just that ONE thing! Luck is something you get luckily and don't even want that one thing that much... Pay attention to that!

This same method has happened to me in my WoW mount career with:

Ashes of Al'ar = ~ 1 ½ years of grinding = ~ 18 months = ~547 days (ONCE per week! ~150 attempts)
Mimiron's Head = About 90 attempts (61 with main). I didn't even want this mount that much, but engineer-wise truly!
Drifter = 3 months so far almost every day maybe just couple missed days = 90 attempts = No drop. AND I want this mount so badly! Once I saw some purple item there and I was like OMGFG IT DROPPED! And didn't. :( It was some gear stuff.

Meanwhile I have completed some BfA mount achievements, Nazjatar rare mounts have dropped (which I don't even want) and some other older mount stuff I don't pay any attention to.

For some reason the one that you want SO BADLY doesn't just drop! So take this to your note and consider you very lucky one, if you get this mount!

BTW FOR THOSE WHO GRIND THIS: Rustfeather spawns EVERY 30 minutes! Usually after Seasplit and Arachnoid Harvester have spawned and some few other when they keep popping up. Then again, there is usually custom raid groups made for this to make waiting more fun and you meet with other mount collectors.If there is no groups, make one with "Rustfeather WM on waiting lobby" or something group. Somehow stupid for ppl asking about the "timer", if waiting time is only 30 minutes...I have never waited longer than 30 min. And to confirm it does only drop loot once per day. Also few times I have noticed the mount not spawning under the layer, where you are, but when you join raid, ppl are already killing it..! It's about layering as well and luck the spawn. Maybe some weird algorithim with layers, or just single random 30 minutes spawn.

PRO TIP: Try to behave like you don't want to have that mount! If you can...

Finally dropped this mount after 249 pulls on my level 111 monk. Spend 12 characters 21 days hunting.

BTW respawn time is quite strange. It's around 7-30 min most of the time around 12-21 min. Your level 120 characters and lower level characters respawn time is different. It's really happened to me on same realm characters. My lower level character just killed Rustfeather then after ill login my level 120 character it's also standing there.

So think about this and manage your time. Goodluck your hunting

I'd like to confirm that my Warlock at lvl 112.. just got this and learned it. You are not phased on the island or anything. You cannot get the Flight Path and the Recipe Questgiver...until after doing Mechagon intro.

After receiving the Pathfinder Achievement in BFA, I parked some 111+ characters a little less than a week ago.

For those who see the crazy amount of attempts to get this mount and feel overwhelmed...

I just got it and I've only farmed it on one character off and on over the course of the last two months. At best I have 40 kills but its probably more like 20-25.

If the drop chance is truly 0.5% this mount will take an average of 138 attempts to drop. I find it amusing how every comment saying "this took me 800 tries" is upvoted while every comment saying it took less than average is buried. That's not helpful at all.

Dropped for me after 432 attempts. Tracked timers over 3 different shards everyday and the spawn timer would usually take between 20 and 30 mins, with some rare outliers being around 15 minutes and others just under 40 mins. Be sure to hard camp it or you might miss it as it spawns since people nuke it in less than 30 seconds.

...anyway, 400 attempts later I got the thing. So that was nice.

Spawn times could be all over the place for Rustfeather. 15-30 minutes was the norm, but I feel like 25 minutes was what I encountered most often.

According to Data for Azeroth, this mount is more collected than Mechacycle Model W. Guess camp farming for a mount is easier than trying to get the achievement done.

Posting for wowhead luck... Activelly farming this one on a daily basis, not missing even one single day across 5 toons. I got the Diavolerie meccaniche achiev back in September 21 2020. I cant believe I completed the achievement first.

Respawn takes between 15 to 25 minutes.

Current try: 297. A friend of mine just received it on his 57 th try

Update: 378 kills, still no mount, keeping strong

As of 10/26/2020 i can confirm that the mount can be mailed. I happened after my 474th kill. I had to tag rustfeather and afk. When i came back the corpse was gone but i had mail. My mail contained Rusted Keys to the Junkheap Drifter. If i can figure out how i'll upload the screenshot i took.

Got this two days ago, after deciding to seriously start farming it.
Had a few kills before while getting the Rustbolt Resistance reputation to Exalted, but those didn't really lead to anything.

Parked up six characters at Rustfeather's spawn, cycling through them until all had a kill.
Expecting to be there for a few weeks, so imagine my surprise when I saw it drop on my sixth character on the second day.

Absolutely love the aesthetic of this mount, going to be great to use in Shadowlands.

I have been farming this mount through the whole 8.2 and part of 8.3 and then decided to give whole Mechagon (for my own sake) a rest.
After about a year, I've payed a visit to my old friend Rustfeather, just of pure boredom.
As the fight finished, I proceeded to loot the corpse and lo behold! The purple keys were sitting there, right on my screen.
So I was farming you for more than a year and then you drop from one random visit?

Currently still farming this over 300 kills and have still never seen this drop for anyone. 8.2 rare spawn mount drops are still the worst ever designed in this game IMO.

Genuinely if you want this mount, give absolute 0 ^&*!s. That's when you'll get it. I was literally killing rustfeather while complaining about this %^&*!@r and my bf noticed the loot before I even reacted to rarity's loud sounds and everything. So basically lose all hope.

Been killing Rustfeather every day for quite a while now and have worked up to 10 characters. Still yet to drop for me (1397 kills) and I am in too deep to stop.

A few tips for farming.

• Use a level *40+ character and just fly to the spawn point and park it there, you can't solo on squishy alts but most of the time there are several 60s around to do the majority of the killing.
• If you want to do it on your main I recommend unlocking the Mechagon questline, it takes about 20 minutes so you can then use the teleport to save time in the long run. You'll be getting spare parts and energy cells passively from Rustfeather and the chests that spawn nearby to make them. If you don't have the blueprint, just look out for Cogstar's shout when he spawns and ask in /1 where he is.
• You can afk tag and be mailed items with a pet class (pet out & on defensive) as long as you get hit by one of it's AoE abilities. Sometimes it can be stunned the whole fight if a lot of poeple are killing but most of the time you'll get the tag.
• To never miss a tag put Rustfeather's number 152182 into the custom tab of NPC Scan and set alert sound to master volume. In WoW settings pop sound on speakers and turn all sound options to 0% except master volume then go clean the house, exercise, cook, watch tv etc and run to the computer when the drums sound to tag on your none pet classes. This stops all the annoying bird dying screeches/toy noises/emotes from other players.

Don't forget to jump or move to reset afk time.

25.05.21 - I have done some testing on different levelled characters, only 40+ get parts, blueprints & probably mount. I am not sure if it is learnable below 50 (like Goldenmane's reins) so *I suggest to just use your 50s as they're more survivable*. I'll update the learnable level if it drops for a 40s character.

10.06.21 - It's my birthday & just hit 1600 kills... no happy surprise from wow. At least I have cake. xD

The Junkheap Drifter just dropped for me in about 20-25 tries, all on one toon. The Rusty Mechanocrawler also dropped for me after roughly 15 tries. I wonder if they increased the drop rate in Mechagon recently.

Got it after more than 600 try.
If you happen to have multiple characters and two account (or a friend willing to help you) one thing you can do to make this farm easier is by simply pulling rustfeather without killing him (ask your friend to tank it for you) and then log onto each of your characters, tag rustfeather, ALT +F4 then log the next one and so on. The mount will be sent by mail if you're lucky enough to drop it

And if you have no friends, the respawn timer is around 20mn.

I'm not sure if this drop rate of 1/200 is bugged or at least has been changed without being stated in any hotfixes. All i know is that I've killed it about 4-500 times, and still have yet to see ANYONE loot the mount. To not have seen it after 500 attempts is just unlucky and i get that, since it's RNG, I do have a friend however who just reached 2.400 attempts and also has yet to see the mount. Whether we're just unlucky as @!#% or if the drop rate has been changed, this is for sure a rare mount to see

I just wanna reiterate that you don't need to be level capped to loot the mount. I just got the mount dropping on a lvl 52 character that didn't do the introduction quests to mechagon (I just flew my low lvl characters to the rare thru drustvar).

Was farming rep and stopped for a chance at the jetpack schematic = left with the mount: 4th kill to be exact (four days in a row i believe). not as pretty as the rarer one i missed in county/state lockup facilities for reasons you love to speculate about and "wish" i go back to for not plugging your favorite rap toon as you assault my mother repeatedly and get off "scot-free," because of your race (in game version of affirmative actions resulting in my blanket decision to curse the game of wow in it's entirety).

Spawn time 15-30 minutes.

Mount dropped for me this morning, attempt number 644, on my level 60 Tauren Druid.

Had 17 characters parked at spawn, all had completed the mechagon intro, so they could port back out to Mechagon from Dazaralor if needed.

RNG can suck, but keep grinding at it.
Mobs I’ve had to kill 600-800 times for mounts:
ZG raptor / ToS Mistress Snake / Stonecore Drake / Rustfeather.
Mobs Ive killed less than 3 times and received mounts:
Invincible / Ragnaros bird / BRF clefthoof / Soundless.

As brutal as it can be at times, it does seem to even out. Keep your head up

Thank you all for your helpful information.
To help me ensure I hit Rustfeather, as many players tend to obscure the spawn point, waiting and mounted on their huge dragon riding proto-drakes, I created a simple targeting macro, "/target Rustfeather" next line was "/cast (what ever my instant ranged attack was for that toon)" and stood off to the side hitting that button it was assigned to a couple times aa second, thus ensuring I hit Rustfeather at least once before it was toast.

I have 9 Alliance toons that could get to Mechagon and get the hearth to the Rustbolt Inn, but only one toon that actually did the storyline, unlocked the account-wide BfA pathfinder so all my alts could fly in BfA and my main had earned exalted with Rustbolt as well. My other alts are a few more mages, a priest, warlock, hunter and a rogue.

I began Friday on my main, then the next day brought the other 8 alts to Boralus through the Stormwind Mage Tower portal, then to Mechagon via the "Waning Energy" quest to save the Mekkatorque pod offered right outside the Boralus portal room. I did not need to go beyond the 5th day, as Wednesday, my hunter's fifth attempt, who only has the hearth to the Inn there, got the Junkheap drifter keys from Rustfeather.

That made a total of 43 tries over five days. Thank the RNG gods. I just wished to give you all hope that you might get it within days of trying, and you do not have to have a fully Mechagon indoctrinated toon to be able to get it. Good luck and good hunting!

Making a new comment, as it's been a while since my last one.

So a little over 1½ year ago, I decided to farm Rustfeather for that sweet sweet wheel. Needless to say, I threw in the towel after 100-something kills and decided it wasn't worth my time for a bit.

So just last week I decided to start farming for "The Glazer", and since it was basically on the same continent, I thought I might as well park a few alts there to break up the monotony of farming mobs endlessly. So I did, but a few became 16, and then it was just on.

I killed Rustfeather 10 times a day on average, for five consecutive days. Some days more, some days less. I even got The Glazer in the meantime, so it all came down to that. Damn. BIRD!

Today, after my druid killed it, I flew it back to start the path for the Honeyback Harvester's Harness. While I did that, and turning in jellies, I saw the timer was up for Rustfeather any second now, so I logged on my paladin which was next up.

I literally got in to it having 5% health and I almost soiled myself frantically pressing everything, and I literally just tagged it with Avenger's Shield before it went down. I thought it was cool beans because at least I witnessed the kill to reset the timer even if I didn't get anythi-OOH MY LORD!

My girlfriend thought I dropped the computer on the floor or something because I yelped IRL.

Don't give up guys, it will come eventually.
