Oddly, while most other enchantments drop at a 10% drop rate, the Nightmare and Chronos enchantment appearances drops dramatically less frequently. If you want this enchantment, be ready to grind this boss every week for months.

Still dropping as of 8.1, for others who've been grinding this for months and begun to have doubts like me. Mine just dropped from LFR and not from a bonus roll.

Looks very similar to me from the pics to the WoD Mark of Shadowmoon enchantment: Incantamento Arma - Marchio dei Torvaluna and the illusion enchant version: Illusione: Marchio dei Torvaluna

126th kill, it dropped in LFR, no bonus roll. One of the nicest weapon enchant effects, similar to Illusione: Marchio dei Torvaluna but quite a bit fuller and brighter.

This is much easier to farm now that you can solo with legacy loot. Took 3 characters in LFR and it dropped.

Finally dropped today after farming all difficulties every reset. Coincidentally, I also found the illusion on the BMAH today, bid was at 30 k on a dead realm with many hours remaining.

The drop rate is terrible. I did multiple LFRs during Legion just for this.

I'm now 50/50 illusions.

Confirming that, as of Shadowlands 9.0.5, this illusion is obtainable from LFR mode.

As of 9.1 Shadowlands this will still drop from the Chronomatic Anomaly on LFR difficulty, meaning that you can solo-grind for it by queuing up at Archmage Timear in Broken Isles Dalaran (Legion), once a week on every character.

I obtained this today after a good year or so of consistent attempts. I was so sure that it was bugged or that it just wouldn't drop on LFR difficulty. I was wrong on both counts. Moreover, I was probably more unreasonably pessimistic than even that because I had seen Illusion: Chronos on the BMAH late last summer and watched it sell for nearly 500,000g. I was prepared to bid as much as that or more, but at 400k my pockets were empty and I told myself that oh well, getting it without paying for a WoW Token will make the drop more rewarding.

For a while I didn't believe what I was saying. But then this morning happened, and now I'm a believer.
