This could be a reference to multiple things, or nothing at all. :P
If it's Zoom as in the character in Flash, wooooo, Flash reference!
Or it's a reference to Turbo from the Disney movie.
Or, it's just our normal Blizzard irony, naming a snail Zoom and having him race.
Either way, love it. :D

Zoom is a reward for Zoom! achievement:
Achievement takes place in Stonedark Grotto Highmountain cave. There you'll find a race track, the point of the achievement is to help a snail named Zoom to win this race. You can do it by slowing other snails, just stand in front of them. They will not slow down if you run, you have to stand still, after the slow wears off they'll gain a speed buff so watch out and block them.

Short Notes:
Stand in front of other snails to slow them.
Don't run, running doesn't slow.
After slow wears off the snail will get a speed buff and start moving very fast. Intercept buffed snail.

You can fast travel to Stonedark Grotto from Totem del Fulmine if you have done quests in the area. There will be a Bogrogg lo Strillapietre npc on the first floor of Totem del Fulmine near the middle exit tunnel.

Apart from being utterly adorable, Zoom is a useful rare H/H battle pet with 1969 health at level 25.

Definitely worth taking a few minutes out to complete the race. While it's not ideal in some ways, for instance it's note entirely obvious when the race will be starting, and the mechanics of slowing other snails didn't seem to work as well as I'd expected, with snails sometimes turning 90 degrees and at other times walking straight through me, it was actually very easy to achieve a win first time.

Very cute pet. Even though he's the slowest of the racers he's got a nifty pair of monocles on his eyestalks to serve as goggles when he has to go fast... Which is not often.

He's just trying his best.

this is actually easier with two people to do the blocking as i discovered, zoom wins by a mile with two people blocking the other snails ad both people get the achivement to.. worth a try anyway

Quick tip: Use Guscio di Gasteropode and then just eat the other snails. Easy Day!

I completed the required achv and got my Zoom, singular! But then today I went to summon him only to find out I have THREE. Did this happen to anyone else?

After a run of defeats, I eventually found the best method was:

1. Camera angle from above.
2. Face the snails as the race starts.
3. Run a few paces backwards.
4. Stand still and block a snail.
5. Take a quick step sideways.
6. Stand still and block another.
7. As soon as you've blocked (the snails starts 'smoking'), quickly repeat from 3 above.
8. Eventually they all herd together making the sideways blocking movements much easier.
9. If one escapes quickly forwards, again repeat from 3.

Help Zoom to win the snail race in the Stonedark Grotto and you will receive the achievement Zoom! with Zoom as your reward and Zoom as your pet.

Coordinates: 46.2, 23.4 - Alto Monte, Stonedark Grotto,
Flight point: The Witchwood - Rafat Zoccolo Fumoso
Achievement: Zoom!
Pet: Zoom, Zoom

If you start in the "Witchwood", follow the road to the north. Before the small lake turn left and follow the path to the "Stonedark Grotto". In the cave goes so far, until you discover a small race track.

go to the four racing snails, so they make their way to the starting line. Now you have to help the little Zoom to win against D'Artagnan, Soldatino and King. He is cheered by Bumbum Schizzagusci.

Stand in front of the other racing snails to stop them. They will thereby slow down or change the direction briefly. You must stand, so you can slow down them. If you're just running in front of them, it does not matter.

If Zoom disappears on you from a mailbox put in a ticket as it looks like it's a known issue that can be fixed. If this changes please comment below.

Just a bit of a frustration post: I'm slowing the snails down. They're all in a bunch. Zoom never ever catches up. :( Using a hunter pet doesn't help, they slime right through it. *sigh*

Need friends. :D

Am I the only one who noticed that Zoom is always first to arrive to their resting place (or whatever it is called) ?

Use the Fragment of Desire companion pet, It will disorientate the bigger snails. By doing this, I didn't even get passed the first turn of the races before Zoom won!

I was in the Grotto working on quests when I noticed my old buddy, Zoom, so I decided to help him win a race.

I summoned my Fragment of Suffering and it feared the group several times. I also did the standing-in-their-way trick to slow the group down. Zoom made it to the finish line before the others rounded the far end of the puddle. He then took a nap and had a nice snack before the others crossed the finish line.

Unfortunately, I got nothing for it because there's a limit of one in your pet journal.

I walked up to the 4 snails and waited but nothing was happening. Eventually, they WILL start moving to the track so just be patient.
