Replaces a random follower trait with Intesa: Meccanico

Increases success chance when on a mission with a construct or machine.

Manuale: Virtù Meccaniche, like other trait-replacement items, will never replace the same six permanent traits that occur only on specific followers:

Guardia del Corpo (on Sacerdote dell'Artiglio Ishaal, Tormmok, Difensore Illona / Aeda Albaluce, Delvar Pugnoferreo / Vivianne, and Leorajh)
Sempreverde (on Filark il Sempreverde)
Combattente Esperto (on Blook)
Pesca (on Nat Pagle)
Mentore (on Harrison Jones)
Maestria nello Sterminio (on Garona Mezzorco)

It can replace item-added traits like Esperto di Hearthstone and Ballerino.

It can be used on deactivated followers, but not followers who are currently on a mission. It won't ask for confirmation before it's applied, so click carefully.

Since this affects group success chance with Sollazzo-Bot 8000 and Ziri'ak, it makes the most sense to give this to one of these followers, so any group composition will benefit from having this.

This probalby does not increase by chance if put on followers like zir lak or pleasurebot 8000. they need a second "machine" to join for it to work. atleast thats how all racial works.

i used mine on a follower Human that my ziri'ak had Humanist so dobble the chance.

Putting this on an mech follower is NOT a good choice. These affinity traits can NOT be "self-activated". The trait would only be useful if the follower with the trait is on a mission with ANOTHER mech.

Overall, the new items that grant these affinity traits for arakkoa and beasts and robots are not very useful because of the infrequency of those followers. But they could be useful in specific team make-ups.

A prime candidate for this "upgrade", in my opinion, is Kimzee Pinchwhistle. At least for non-engineers characters.

Note: Don't confuse the Grease Monkey Guide with the Greasemonkey trait being added in patch 6.2. The Grease Monkey Guide gives your follower the Mechano Aficionado trait which will not increase the amount of Oil from a garrison mission.

These (along with Manuale: Ornitologo, Manuale: Compagnia Selvaggia and Manuale: Amico Ogre) have been changed in 6.2 so that when used, you are now prompted to choose a trait to replace.

4-man dream team:
Dagg with Manuale: Virtù Meccaniche, Manuale: Ornitologo and Manuale: Compagnia Selvaggia
Rukaryx Albafurente with Manuale: Virtù Meccaniche, Manuale: Amico Ogre and Manuale: Compagnia Selvaggia
Mantodoro lo Scuoiatore with Manuale: Virtù Meccaniche, Manuale: Ornitologo and Manuale: Amico Ogre
Ziri'ak with Manuale: Ornitologo, Manuale: Amico Ogre and Manuale: Compagnia Selvaggia

Of these 4 followers, only Mantodoro lo Scuoiatore comes with a predetermined trait (skinners may consider running Pallas, but he takes much longer to obtain) and none have any permanent traits.

For every race, the alternatives have downsides that make these the most attractive 4.
Some have permanent traits (Sacerdote dell'Artiglio Ishaal with Guardia del Corpo) so you can't apply all 3 enhancements, others have profession buffs (Sollazzo-Bot 8000 with Sartoria) so you may not want to.

How do I use this? I've got 24 followers, 22 of them epic. I open the Follower list and click one, so its portrait, abilities etc. appear in the right-hand pane. I've tried left-clicking and right-clicking the item and nothing happens. I've tried dragging it on top of an existing trait and nothing happens. This happens with all 24 followers.
