Painted Eggs are New to 2015:

In 2015, you can help organize your own egg hunt with eggs from Noblegarden Vendors:

Uovo Dipinto Mediocremente costs 10 silver. When looted, contains Uovo Dipinto Mediocremente which vendors for 9 silver.
Uovo Dipinto Accuratamente costs 10 gold. When looted, contains Uovo Dipinto Accuratamentewhich vendors for 9 gold.
Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente costs 1,000. When looted, contains Uovo Dipinto Magnificamentewhich vendors for 900 gold.

All of these eggs, when placed on the ground, look like the same Painted Egg. You cannot tell which egg contains the pricey 900 gold.

A fun idea for an in-game event is for one player to hide all the eggs, invite friends to find them, and whoever finds the egg containing 900 gold first wins the egg hunt.

If you are making your own egg hunt, you can carry up to 20 Uovo Dipinto Mediocremente , 5 Uovo Dipinto Accuratamente, and 1 Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente in your bags at once.

Noblegarden is a week-long holiday event that occurs around the time of the real-world Easter, which can be anywhere from late March to late April depending on the year. The exact dates are shown on the WoW calendar, accessed from a button near your minimap. There are a number of quests and rewards, and each faction has four Noblegarden merchants/vendors near old starter zones that sell Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente, among other items. You can buy this egg for 1000 gold, place it on the ground, and using cross-realm zones, a character from another realm can pick it up to receive a Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente, and sell it to a vendor for 900 gold. This allows you to transfer gold between realms with a 10% loss, using two accounts at the same time or with help from a friend, in a party together so they see each other on the same cross-realm zone. Both the item you place and the item you pick up are "unique", so you can only hold one at a time; remember to sell the 900 gold egg before you pick up another, or the new one will simply disappear without warning when you try to pick it up. Note that anyone can pick up the egg, so you want to place it in an out-of-the-way location, or else have the character picking it up spam-click on the location where you tell them you'll place it. The character on the less crowded realm should invite the other character, so you'll both appear in the less crowded cross-realm zone.

If you only want to transfer a few thousand gold, that's really all you need to know; you can manually purchase and sell the eggs.

Transferring Large Amounts of Gold

If you want to transfer a lot of gold, there are a couple macros and tips that can make the process more efficient. With the macros, using two accounts running in different windows on the same computer, it's possible to buy, place, switch windows, pick up, sell, and switch windows every 4.5 seconds, transferring 1000g (or 900g for the recipient) every 4.5 seconds, which works out to 100,000 gold every 7.5 minutes, or 1 million gold every 75 minutes.

To transfer that fast means both buyer and seller have to be stationary, close enough to both keep the Noblegarden vendor window open, which increases the risk of an unintended recipient stealing one of your eggs. The Horde vendor in the Ruins of Silvermoon is near a doorway that provides a little privacy to reduce this likelihood. Other vendors may offer similar advantages. You may want to pick a time like 5am when fewer people are around, to reduce the likelihood of theft. If theft seems too risky, you'll have to place and pick up the eggs some distance away, near an out-of-the-way vendor, which means additional time for movement.

Below are a macro for auto-buying Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente and a macro for auto-selling Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente, to optimize speed. You only need to run these once per gaming session, and they'll keep running in the background until you log out or reload. You can copy them from here, and just paste them into the chat window to run them, or paste them to an actual macro slot in the game to save it for later use by placing it on an action bar.

Auto-Buying Macro: For buying, every time you open a merchant window or your bag inventory changes (e.g. if you place an egg), it tries to buy a Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente from a Noblegarden Merchant if their merchandise window is open. (If not, or if you already have an egg, it won't do anything).

Auto-Selling Macro: For selling, everytime you open a merchant window or your bag inventory changes (e.g. when you pick up an egg), if it finds item 116371 in your inventory (the 900g Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente is item 116371), it will attempt to "use" the egg, which sells it if any vendor window is open, and does nothing otherwise.

These are useful no matter how you want to do the actual egg exchange. You can stay within range of the vendor, where both buyer and seller have the Noblegarden Merchant window open all the time while placing and picking up eggs. Or if there are people around and you want to move out of the way, have the seller keep a vendor window open somewhere nearby (e.g. in Ruins of Silvermoon, use the bartender in the inn next to the Noblegarden Merchant), while your buyer can keep running back to the merchant, and as soon as they open the merchant window it will buy another egg, so you can run back to the seller, place the egg, and if they have their vendor's window open, it will autosell it as soon as they pick it up.

The buyer should put the Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente on their action bar and keybind it, to speed up placing the egg.

For maximum speed, if you're running two accounts on one computer, once you see the the cast bar going to place or pick up an egg, switch windows to either place the next egg, or start spam-clicking to pick up the next egg. If you're getting help from a friend, wait until you see that you're friend has picked up the last egg before placing another. The person picking up eggs can spam click where the egg will be placed, so as soon as it appears they'll click it, reducing the likelihood of a passerby swiping it.

WARNING: Uovo Dipinto Magnificamente is UNIQUE. If you already have a one in your bag, and click to pick up another one, it simply vanishes and you still only have one in your bag. There is no warning or error message, it just disappears. This won't happen if you've run the seller macro and have a vendor window open, but if you carelessly forget to run the macro first, or forget to open a vendor window, you can quickly waste a lot of eggs without realizing it. Keep your backpack open just to visually confirm that the last egg was sold before clicking on another.
