After completing the quest The God Hakkar you can speak to the quest giver again and you will then be presented with an option to receive this scroll. The scroll works the same way as the egg did in that quest; it lets you summon the Avatar of Hakkar in Sunken Temple, as a way of repeating the boss event every time you visit the instance.

Does anyone know if this is one of the many items which are no longer truly needed now in 3.0.8? Or would I still have to keep one of these on hand if I want to walk friends through there and fight the boss?

i have a problem, i went farming rep with bloodsail buccaneers, so BB went hating me. with that, every village of goblins hate me. i deleted this scroll after i went to high for it. now the mob to get it from is part of Gadgetzan. and they hate me to. is there a other way to obtain the scroll or to get rep with Gadgetzan again without losing rep with bloodsail?

The thing I really want to know is this:

Do you have to go through the entire ritual to summon him again? IE, do you have to collect the blood for the braziers etc.?

I was going to destroy this after the Shattering to make some space but decided to investigate whether or not it was still usable first.

So! This item can still be used to summon the Avatar of Hakkar in the revamped Temple of Atal'Hakkar (4.0.3a).

There is also a new quest to kill the Avatar from Lord Itharius inside the temple, for which he provides the Egg of Hakkar (which does the exact same thing as the scroll). Both remain in your inventory after use (with a 5-minute cooldown) and in the case of the Egg, even after handing in the quest - though it is marked as a quest item. I therefore destroyed the Egg to see if Itharius would provide me with a replacement (as this is the only method by which a new player could summon the Avatar)... but he wouldn't. Oh dear.

I'll be keeping my Scroll, then.

I just completed the instance (one floor, three bosses, pretty straightforward unless there's something else I couldn't find) and there is no egg in my bags. My guess is the lingering egg was a bug that has since been fixed.

I destroyed the scroll, it doesn't appear to do anything now, and even if it does, the instance has become so boring that I don't really ever want to go back again anyway.

Delete this item. The altar inside the instance works fine for summoning the Avatar of Hakkar.
