Glad you can't. Rather not see someone actively in the fray with the power to ban people who disagree with him.
Such little faith? You think I would so easily be corrupted by the power? That any moderator on this site would be?
The ability to remove people from the site is a tool, which comes with responsibility.
Even
if I were to take action against the people I disagree with unilaterally, no doubt there would be repercussions, and then I would be removed from the responsibilities I am currently entrusted, and possibly banned myself.
You think me that stupid? I do what little work I currently have here for what I perceive as the good of the website. Especially, I also believe in free speech. To remove people from using the website is generally not the good, aside from spammers. And hence, it would likely be only the spammers that saw my banhammer.

Your supreme confidence in yourself that you wouldn't become over confident in yourself has me utterly convinced.

Aren't you still in high school? All that I really need to say about that.

Take it as you will, as I won't change your mind. I would have the same checks placed on me as any other user does; from what I can tell, you have confidence that you yourself do not abuse the posting power. It's just another tool.

Because maturity is caused by age. Yes, yes, that's it. I could call you age-ist, but that would be ironic then, wouldn't it?

I'm very sure that I do make mistakes. When do I express any confidence in myself other than my own faults and at the same time, value? Personally, I don't see anything wrong with mods getting the power to ban, but I think it would get abused, and I could see you as the one abusing it. I'm meerly pointing out how laughable telling your own self testimonial is. If anything, it is the most damning thing against you. Ironic? No?

Well, yeah actually you need to be older to be mature. Being older doesn't make you mature, but you need to have had some experience before you're mature. Kind of like the whole 10,000 hours to become an expert thing, spending 10,000 hours doesn't make you an expert, but you have to have invested the time before you can be an expert.
So if Skyfire doesn't believe that he'll be consumed with power, then he won't be.

Being older is not a necessity for maturity. I've seen some 5 year olds who have more fiber to them than most adults. Do not confuse age with maturity or wisdom. The three really have nothing to do with eachother.
I think skyfire is mature about some things, from what I can tell. That isn't what I'm argueing against. I'm saying he is corruptable.
@BigRedWilly - "only skyfire knows who skyfire is" is a falicy. Most of the time we need someone else to point out our mistakes and help us grow, because it is very difficult to see oneself without bias.

It was merely my opinion, as I've stated. I wasn't saying it was true. I don't know him, so I can't judge him. Also, like I've said, only Skyfire knows who Skyfire is.
It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you.

I rarely, if ever, have seen you admit them; sarcasm is both your greatest fault and your greatest strength. Never an apology; never an audible question of "was this the right/wrong thing to say?" I know you to be a confident person and poster, else you would have fallen to your own flames a long time ago.
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with mods getting the power to ban, but I think it would get abused, and I could see you as the one abusing it.
Aside from the fact that I'm mildly stung by the lack of faith (wouldn't you be?), I can show you the track record of everyone I've ever banned on WoWWiki. You would be unlikely to find a single user there who had been unjustly removed from their ability to edit, and in fact, would quickly find users there who I had
prevented
from being banned unjustly. There are also quite visible instances there where I disagreed with someone (it would be more difficult to provide the proof, but it is there), and yet I myself never once touched them with the banhammer.
Could the power be abused? Yes, certainly. Would it be? I like to think it wouldn't be, because we have no evidence to the contrary that it would be until presented with the first case of an unjust ban.
I'm mearly pointing out how laughable telling your own self testimonial is. If anything, it is the most damning thing against you. Ironic? No?
Again, see it as you will. Some will agree with you, and some won't (some won't care either way); further, the fact that I can show you where you are wrong only strengthens the argument that I made.
To the power quote, and also as a general gist: We shouldn't need to be suspicious of the ones in power, and as before, it saddens me when it is required that we must be suspicious. I always attempt to act in the way of the former: where I don't need to be questioned to be understood.

Actually, yeah it sort of does. Maturity has to do with whether or not you're mentally and emotionally developed. And the point you made about most adults being less mature than a five year old (which is bull@#$%) doesn't lessen my point. Being an adult doesn't make you mature, but you need to be an adult to be fully matured.

Which was not your argument to begin with, only that I was young, and that
that fact
was implied to be a bad thing. I will agree that to be full mature, you must have experience, but again, where exactly I disagree is that you must have experience to have any maturity.
I will also not argue that age does not correlate to maturity. It obviously does. But there are the outliers, and so you shouldn't make the argument that being young automatically disqualifies a person from having responsibility placed on their shoulders.

The reason I don't fall into my flames is that I will admit I was wrong, which really takes the steam out of my enemies cannons.Aside from the fact that I'm mildly stung by the lack of faith (wouldn't you be?), I can show you the track record of everyone I've ever banned on WoWWiki. However, your confidence is an indicator of that possibility. The greatest thing you could do to win my entusiasm would be to say something to the effect of "I, Skyfire, am not incorruptible".Again, see it as you will. Some will agree with you, and some won't (some won't care either way); further, the fact that I can show you where you are wrong only strengthens the argument that I made. The only reason someone has power is because they desire power. That is a suspicious quality in itself. The person offered the world who turns it down I would trust my life too. Only person I've heard of like that is Jesus.
