An honest question from a noob paladin:
I know a lot of tanking builds move points out of Reckoning because it doesn't give as much threat as it used to (at least, that's the way I kept reading as to why it wasn't taken). With the change to Seal of Vengeance in 3.2 to do 33% weapon damage once the 5 stacks are up, will that make Reckoning more viable to take for dps/threat? Or am I just reading too much into it?
Thanks! :-)

What are you giving up for it? 3/3 Crusade and 2 points in Conviction? 6% damage and 2% crit? That's a *lot*...
I haven't done the numbers yet, but I'll look up svirve's Reckoning up-time chart if I can find it and see what it suggests.

I've seen the numbers over at Maintankadin. Reckoning still won't compare to Conviction / Crusade for threat.

Only as filler though, at the moment.
As for Seals of the Pure, I think Theck did some numbers on that over at Maintankadin - because the 15% doesn't apply to the 33% MW damage, I think the build stays exactly the same as present. I think switching to Seal of Command doesn't pay as much in the long run due to the DoT from Vengeance.

Yep, only. It wouldn't be worth, I don't think, knocking back two points in Crusade just for the sake of getting 5/5 Reckoning, even with the 33% MW damage from SoV. Because that's the only way you're going to find points to add to Reckoning to turn it into something that's *not* a filler.

Did you click my link?
Why would I? I was addressing the OP's question, not your build.
3/5 Reckoning has always been an option if you feel the need to push every dollop of threat and are willing to sacrifice some utility and a tiny amount of survivability.
Okay, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a great talent now
It remains the least valuable threat talent available. It's a great talent for leveling, but not something to sacrifice points in Ret for at 80.

With that statement I'd have to say that SotP still is lackluster because your increasing the dmg by 15% and I'm not sure if that affects the holy weapon dmg at all or if it's just the dot.
Sorry to repeat myself, but the boys at Maintankadin have confirmed that the 15% does not affect the holy weapon damage at all, only the DoT. This may change before release though.

Why do people want me to repeat myself?
3DG4 - Yes, I have seen the new changes. Obviously. I wouldn't have gone looking for an analysis if I hadn't.
Wowgeek - The plural of anecdote is not data. Seeing prettier numbers tells us nothing about how it compares to other talents. Seals of the Pure no longer affects the DoT portion of SoV on the PTR, only the new 5-stack per swing bonus.
Here are the current PTR numbers comparing threat among the various talents
TL; DR - 1H Weapon Spec > TbtL > Crusade > Conviction > SotP > Reckoning
Just like 3.1. Reckoning has improved, but it was far weaker than the other talents to begin with. It is a better filler talent than it was (now it is right on SotP's tail) and if you're explicitly going for maximum threat at the expense of all else, 3/5 Reckoning for your fillers at the top of the tree is going to be a part of that build.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting my question to bring up this much discussion. However, a healthy discussion is always good to have.
Thank you everyone for your info (and especially the links). I run with a guild (two guilds, actually) that don't have a "main tank / off tank", per se; we just bring the tanks and let them decide what they'd like to tank. I'd always wondered what the usefulness of a tank having Divine Sacrifice and Divine Guardian would be, and whether those points should go into Reckoning.
Y'all have given me some more things to think about in regards to my build, so...again, thank you. :-)
