Just because this gets tossed around a lot, there IS a reason that lawsuit worked. That specific McDonalds store had been warned more than once that their coffee was indeed to hot and considered unsafe. Due to that fact, when the woman spilled the coffee into her lap, the nerves on her clitoris were destroyed and she was no longer able to feel sexual pleasure, ever, for the rest of her life. Yes, she won that lawsuit for a very valid reason.
How is it possible to not realise a cup of coffee is hot enough to cause severe nerve damage to a clothed person (unless she was naked at McDonald's) before grabbing it? Surely you'd see the vapour and feel the boiling heat just getting your hand near it. If she actually tried drinking it, then it's even worse.
It wasn't just that, the core of the issue was the fact that the McDonalds had been warned repeatedly that their coffee was to hot. If it had been a one time thing the lawsuit could have ended very differently. Negligence is expensive.

The worst thing about this is that this incident is the one that got media attention and is therefore the one everyone gets hung up on when there are much worse lawsuits that people have won.
For example, there was a case where a man was attempting to steal hubcaps. He was in the act, crouched down at the back of someone's car, when the person got in and went to drive away. The thief remained crouched to stay hidden, and when the car backed up it backed over his foot. The hubcap thief SUED FOR DAMAGES AND WON. But for whatever reason this lawsuit isn't the one people get all up in arms about. It's the stupid McDonald's one. *shakes fist*
On-topic point being there are tons of thoroughly inappropriate jokes and references in WoW. Why suddenly single out this one? I mean, I'm disgusted at how many quests involve us digging through feces and that they feel the need to keep adding more. Can we complain about those instead?

Milhouse Manastorm has a huge beard and wears a dress, just saying. There is nothing child-like about him except for his small size, he is clearly adult and clearly homosexual. I dont get whats so offensive?

There was also an instance where a burglar was trying to....well, burgle. Wow, that word doesn't look right. Anyway, he fell through someone's skylight, fell on a knife left out on a kitchen side and actually sued the person. Successfully. I mean, WHAT?

I remember this! The thief was still paid, but she did file for an appeal after the case and won, so good thing she had the money paid back to her from the state.
Fact still remains, thief still got paid. Terrible state laws let this happen.
Try this %^&* in Texas, ill claim trespass and I can legally kill you.
They are also passing a law to where if you see your neighbors house being broken into, you can legally shoot them as well.
I remember hearing a news story a few years ago about a guy in Texas who did just that, he was on 911 the entire time and the thieves were breaking into his neighbor's house, they were starting to leave and he tells the operator "I'm gonna git em, this aint right watching this go down and not do anything" and next thing you hear is like 4 gunshots in the background and the dude comes back to the operator and tells em he killed both of em in his neighbors front lawn lol. He did not get charged, which is awesome.

Wasn't that in Liar Liar
I haven't lived long, so if it actually happened 5+years ago, then I have no idea.
It was in Liar Liar, but I'm pretty sure it happened in real life too.
Was it?I don't remember, awesome if so!
I heard about it from an old Law teacher so I can only assume it's right.
