Monkey gives you a dodge bonus. You won't use this one very often, you will have up Hawk or Viper 99% of the time.
Hawk increases ranged AP, this is your main aspect.
Viper regenerates mana.
Cheetah/Pack increases movement speed by 30% ...useful for kiting or running back through the cleared portions of a dungeon if you wipe.
Dragonhawk combines Monkey and Hawk. When you get it, you'll keep it up 99% of the time.
Wild increases nature resistance. I find that I rarely, if ever, use this.
Beast makes you untrackable and increases melee AP. Pretty much never used, unless youre playing cat-and-mouse with another hunter, or you run out of ammo in a dungeon (shame on you for being a bad hunter in that case)
I think I got them all.

The only times I use aspect of the wild is for some raid boss fights. It makes it a little easier on the healers.
Aspect of the beast is, I suppose, good if you've been disarmed in PvP? (for your pet that is). Can't really think of other uses for it. Not being trackable...Maybe that should just be a passive ability for hunters anyway :/

Aspect of the Pack gives the group a movement boost which, I suppose, is good for running to or away from whatever. I have trouble with this one disappearing after I mount up, though, so perhaps I don't understand how it is supposed to be used.
It disappears when you mount up or get on an FP because it (and its counterpart, Aspect of Cheetah, which only increases your movement speed) works similar to a druid's travel form. It's useful for select situations. A few I can think of:
- Zoning in to dungeon after a wipe (to get back to where you were)
- Going long distances indoors
- Going short distances indoors/outdoors
- Battlegrounds (like in WSG when you're the FC)
The problem with it is if you're struck you're dazed for a long time.
But it's not supposed to increase your movement speed on a mount, since that's for more long term travel.

This. I know that in UB in BC, the last boss dealt heavy nature dmg. I used it against him. I used it alot in CCR instances.
I think beast is purely a pvp aspect. I use it alot for the untrackable aspect. Made moving across the BGs easier, and in WSG, it was easier to get in the Ally base and scout. Also, cuz we all know that I use my melee attacks, I
had
a macro that would cast AotB when I used RS. I used a 2hander for more dmg, and used MB right after. I did it alot, when I was low on ammo or my target was melee class and low health, or if its a close quarter fight, AV FW towers mostly, or if I was chasing a FC in WSG and I needed to be close to return the flag. Again, IMO, Beast is a pvp aspect. There arent really other times it should be used.

Dreamwalker Heroic is the only time I ever use Wild as well.
Every other time, it's such a crippling DPS loss for the Hunter that it's not worth it.

I don't see the reason for dreamwalker. The whole point of kiting the zombies is so that nobody gets hit by the explosion, and if you're so close to the zombie that you use wild to take reduced damage, I'm kinda scared about how close you are to something that will kill you in 1 melee hit.
It's not for me, it's for overzealous melee DPS or portal healers who drop down right on top of my exploding zombie. >_<

Beast used to be good for BM back pre-3.0.8 for raiding, but it was nerfed since then. It can still be a good idea to hit beast for bestial wrath time, and then swap back to hawk when not in BW.
That's quite interesting, do you have any evidence? I PvP as BM and that could mean some easier wins :)

I've only ever used Aspect of the Wild twice. Thorim Hard Mode bfore our healers were sufficiently geared enough to go without it, and the first few times I was in HoL. It makes Loken a breeze.
Aspect of the pack has only seen one use ona fight for me, and that was on my guilds first few progression runs of Naxx. The RL asked em to pop it on Anub'Rekhan when the tnak had to kite around the outside of the room.

Nah your 400 RAP from AotDH (+30% if youre BM) also increases your pets attack power. You'll get more overall damage from AotDH. The increase in your pet's damage will be negligible.

Just my two cents:
Melee while in Aspect of the Beast will cause HUGE amounts of threat. Mongoose Bite minus will get renamed "Mocking Blow." Use it if a Mob needs to be peeled of your healer or something.
I discovered this while running some guildies through SFK on my level 30 BM Hunter. For some reason, I easily held aggro over my growling wolf the whole time thanks to this trick.

AotB doesn't change your threat generation other than by increasing your damage, unlike tanking stances (or w/ever your tanking class has). I think your problem was you were using a wolf, which isn't known for its tanking abilities.
So how was I also holding Aggro over a newbie Rogue, Trigger happy lock with an Imp, and heal happy priest?
