Upcoming Changes to Cooking in Shadowlands Patch 9.2

Recipe: Empty Kettle of Stone Soup - Set out a Kettle of Stone Soup, ready to fill with delicious ingredients. Finish it to to feed up to 35 people in your raid or party! Once complete, restores 48077 health and 38462 mana over 20 sec. Must remain seated while eating. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 20 in a stat for 1 hour. (3 Min Cooldown)

Why is Cooking Useful in Shadowlands?

Stat food is one of the cheapest buffs you can give yourself, and it lasts for an hour. With 3 yields per combine, you can make yourself a lot of stat food.

You can use found food for a useful purpose. While most Shadowlands recipes do require fish, there are a couple recipes that rely only on food you find in the wild.

Shadowlands provides some new, fun recipes! Who doesn't love randomly breathing fire?

People who provide feasts to their raids and parties are popular people!

Recipe: Bonemeal Bread is a rare loot from Pile of Bones, which spawns in random locations around Korthia. It's an amusing recipe, since doctoring bread with bone meal has been a long-standing accusation in the not-so-distant past.

Recipe: Porous Rock Candy is a loot from Nest of Unusual Materials, another random spawn. These are usually found on top of trees. Now with more rocks!

Recipe: Twilight Tea's source is unknown, but since it's currently listed as restoring 0 mana over 20 seconds, only the most diehard recipe collectors will want to bother unless something changes (not to mention that the max skill on the recipe is listed as 100, but it's already grey by 75).

I just have to say, I love the fact that they are taking the opportunity afforded by Shadowlands and it's otherworldly setting to make some of the foods equally outlandish: Steak a la Mode in particular made me laugh just reading it. Pickled Meat Smoothie just makes me cringe, but also makes me strangely curious!

Comment by felinae

There's a meat missing from the list - Creeping Crawler Meat - used for:

Comment by orca2017

Man this food sounds delicious ..soulfood nice

Comment by marcos4life

did i miss something or is Fishing not added on the next expansion?

Comment by Apmac

Personally I hate the fact all buff food has fish requirements. Absolutely stupid.

Comment by lunamoonraker

For Spinefin Souffle and Fries, even though the Cooking list shows it requires level 45 , the Vendor wont sell it and requires Level 50 before purchase is possible.

Also the recipe for Fried Bonefish has changed. The 2 x Creeping Crawler Meat has been substituted for 2 x Spinefin Piranha, making it an all fish dish.

Comment by Znuff

Expect the Haste food to be very expensive trough the whole expansion.

The Tenebrous Ribs have an insanely low drop-rate, currently.

Comment by AOAily

Am I missing something or is the more expensive feast only give 2 more stat than the cheaper feast?

Comment by XieXie

QUIET HOUNDS wasn't offered at 75. I'm max level now and it's still not showing up on Chef Au'krut. Is there an additional requirement to get this recipe?

Comment by Somnif

"Shadowlands Cooking relies more on Fish than has been required in Cooking previous expansions."

...erm, didn't BfA cooking require fish oil for nearly every recipe?

Comment by Mypciscraze

HI all

I done Cooking with Fishing in same time. To get to 75 on Cooking i used only Fish :D. Cooking and fishing Trainer are in same place in Oribos 47 24.

See My Full Video with Guide - https://youtu.be/4pqX4czEiEs

Guide:

Step 1:

- Learn Cooking and Buy all recipes ( make sure you have Biscuits and Caviar is from skill 0 )
- Learn Fishing and buy all tools from Distributor Au'nagl ( buy rod if you dont have any other "The Brokers Angle'r" )

Step 2:

Fly to Bastion and catch ( I was doing it in 46 30 ):
- 80+ Lost Sole Better to get at the beginning more you will need them later ( this fish can be catch every where )
- 30+ Silvergill Pike This you will get any way is in same place where Lost Sole but main focus on Lost Sole.
Make Biscuits and Caviar until lvl 25 of cooking then Move back Oribos to buy new recipe Sweet Silvergill Sausages and Cinnamon Bonefish Stew
Make Sweet Silvergill Sausages to get minimum 30 lvl of Cooking.
Buy new Recipe Candied Amberjack Cakes

Step 3:

Fly To Maldraxxus to catch 65+ Pocked Bonefish ( I was farming in 61 75 ) better catch more you will need them later.
Make Cinnamon Bonefish Stew to 43 Cooking skill
Fly to Ardenweald to catch 21 Iridescent Amberjack ( I was doing it 48 32 )
Make Candied Amberjack Cakes to get Cooking on 50 lvl.

Step 4:

Fly back to Oribos for new recipe Iridescent Ravioli with Apple Sauce
Fly to Ardenweald to catch 90 Iridescent Amberjack ( I was doing it 48 32 )
Make Iridescent Ravioli with Apple Sauce Until Cooking lvl 70.

Step 5

Fly back to Oribos for new recipe Fried Bonefish
Fly to Revendreth and catch 10 Spinefin Piranha ( I was doing it 63 43 )
Make Fried Bonefish until Cooking lvl 75.

When i had 10 Spinefin Piranha i had fishing on 185, If you want just stay fishing Spinefin Piranha until 200 Fishing lvl.

Now You can use all meat xD.

Hope That Help You :).

I dunno, perhaps its just me? I found levelling cooking (and my other professions) simple, easy and rather unsatisfying in Shadowlands. I appreciated it much more in Legion and before. I was able to level my two professions and cooking in a matter of 1.5hrs *meh*

Comment by Bigtex79

The Surprisingly Palatable Feast doesn't give 18 to a stat for one hour, it gives 21 to a stat for 1 hour.
