Creeping Madness will increase in stacks based on the distance traveled, so positioning as quickly as possible at the beginning of the encounter is crucial to mitigating stacks. If the raid is stacked up, players with Incineration will need to move shorter distances.

After the boss casts Gale Blast, and the raid finds a safe zone from Molten Pools, make sure not to move, because if done correctly, stacks will reset during the next cycle of phase 1.

During Phase 2, three high mobility players should be assigned to soak the Scales of Wrathion to gain the Burning Madness buff. Each player should start running over Crackling Shards in the lane their Scales of Wrathion spawned.

Mythic Wrathion Phase 1

The boss should be tanked on the north side of the room, with the raid positioned at his side. Due to the movement restriction on Mythic difficulty, the raid will need to adjust their positioning after each Burning Cataclysm based on where the tanks intercept the boss.

This general raid positioning should be followed. Simply rotate it depending on which way the boss is facing.

Incineration will always target two players, who should move about 20 yards from the raid to minimize damage taken. Each Phase 1, there will be 2 sets of Incineration, with the first set being before the first Burning Cataclysm, and the other between the first and second Burning Cataclysm.

When the boss casts Burning Cataclysm a glimmer of him will remain visible, which indicates the safe zone during this mechanic. Always run towards the side opposite from where Wrathion teleports to.

The boss will always alternate between teleporting to the East or West wall of the room, then teleporting to the North or South wall. This should give some indication of where the raid should start moving to.

Mythic Wrathion Phase 2

Most of the players should be stacked around the center of the room to make it easier for Ashwalker Assassins to be rounded up and cleaved.

As players break the Hardened Cores of the Crackling Shards, they should be killed while prioritizing the large clusters. Leave the Crackling Shards that are by themselves alone, unless the raid has already dealt with the large clusters.

The easiest method of dealing with Hardened Cores is for tanks to drag the Ashwalker Assassins around the room starting near the boss to allow melee dps to cleave the targets more efficiently.

Mythic Wrathion Tips and Tricks

The slow from Creeping Madness can be reset by abilities such as Hand of Freedom, and Tiger’s Lust. Creeping Madness can be temporarily ignored by abilities such as Death’s Advance, however the stacks will not reset.

If a player dies and gets resurrected in Phase 1, Creeping Madness will disappear, and the player can move freely.

Use warlock gates each time to get to the safe zone after the boss casts Gale Blast, or on your way back when he appears. Using a warlock gate will still apply stacks of slow, but not as many as running that distance.

DPS

Using 2 minute cooldowns as soon as they come up lines up perfectly with dealing maximum boss damage, however if your cooldown lasts longer than 15 seconds, I recommend saving it for the first Phase 2, or the second Phase 1. This is because the boss will cast Burning Cataclysm at about 2:20.

Phase 2 will begin at 2:35, making longer duration 2 minute cooldown classes great at dealing with the shards in this phase. The second Phase 2 will be at 6:00, meaning that the third use of 3 minute cooldowns can be either allocated to finishing the boss, or dealing with the second Phase 2.

Most of the raid should be specialized for single target damage, however a few players can switch to a cleave build if too many Crackling Shards remain alive in Phase 2.

Your raid should strive to kill the boss before a third Phase 2, otherwise your healers might start falling behind due to the increased damage the raid is taking.

Healers

In the first Phase 1, the only notable damage taken will be from Incineration. The instances of damage happen at 0:30, and 1:44. Each of these sets should be covered by a small healing or damage reduction cooldown.

Depending on the tanks the raid uses, external cooldown can be used on them when tanking the second hit of Searing Breath.

Once Phase 2 is over, the raid will most likely have a few stacks of Rising Heat from unkilled Crackling Shards. This means that the passive raid damage will ramp up after each Phase 2, as the raid accumulates more stacks.

In the second Phase 1, Incineration will be cast at 3:56, and 5:08, marking important point of high damage overlap that will need to be carried with healing cooldowns.

Tanks

Tanks should position about 10 yards apart so they do not cleave each other with Searing Breath. This will allow them to taunt swap without having to move.

Damage reduction cooldowns should be used when taking a hit of Searing Breath while under the effect of Searing Armor.

After each cast of Burning Cataclysm, the boss should be positioned in a place to minimize the movement done by the raid. Typically, this means letting the boss run to the raid, rather than chasing him once he appears.

This is a rough timeline of the three most important mechanics in the encounter. These will vary by a few seconds, depending on which corner the boss decides to move to.
