Guide looks great, as does the map with the screenshots. I just went through all the location and found 1 "fake book". Assuming all locations are correct, this guide made everything perfectly clear!

PS: maybe it would be better to note that others can "steal" away the books before you, more clearly.

Great guide. I've been planning to do this achievement for so long and this guide gave me a very nice start, thanks a lot.

The books respawn immediately after a server reset so if you are on right when the servers come back up you should check all the spawn points (although they can still be the "fake" books).

Thanks a lot for the guide, it's a very good starting point. There is something I don't understand though... you say to go back to the spawn point 3 hours after reading a book, but it could be up to 4 hours, right? Because I've been waiting now for 20 minutes and nothing happens (after the 3 hours elapsed). I would appreciate if you could clarify this ;-)

PLEASE change to "minimum of fuss" not "fuzz" LOL

Thank you for your guide. It's an amazing piece of work. You've truly mastered this achievement and I'm grateful that you share your knowledge. I also like the map you've created with the mouse-over screenshots. Well done!

Fun random fact: These are the original school of Magic from 1st edition D&D.

Great guide, thank you. I now know the cool down on the books and don't have to waste time at certain spots.

Two simple macros to mark the locations of all the books with TomTom.

This guide is the best. I had given up all hope of ever finding all 8 books then I found this awesome guide that has now helped me to find some of the books. Before I was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off but now I know what to do.

Again thank you for helping us out with this awesome guide.

This worked so well for me! It took me three days to gather all the books but I was confident that with this guide I would find them all and I did. I have my new pet and achieve. It was a huge time saver! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Comment by rockstar2010

One of the things that would really help are screenshots of where exactly the books are supposed to spawn.

Comment by Stariknight

Great guide. Short and simple. Map and screenshots are a massive help. Many thanks.

Comment by 1248602

Perfect guide - realy nice, that you add screenshots for exact spawn places.. Cheers! :)

Fantastic guide! Thanks so much for this. I'm only part way through (2 so far), so still a little ways to go, but just wanted to say the screen shots on the locations are a life saver! Thank you :)

The only thing that might be useful (or just generally interesting) is a list of the "fake books" that show up? I'm not sure if there is a regular rotation of the fakes, but the first book I came across was called STAY OUT!. I'd be curious to know what the other fakes are?

But otherwise, brilliant. And thanks again.

Thanks! This seems very helpful and now maybe I can finally get this one done!

Great and detailed guide. Only thing left to do is wait and complete the achievement. Thank you! :)

I would do a check of one or two books each morning between 8 - 10 am, learn the drop times, and then go off and do other things until the next book drop. The book of Illusion is the most illusive. The drops(random and correct books), at least for me, seemed to be 3 and a half to 4 hour intervals for all of them.

All you need is patience and persistence.

Comment by 1393862

After the lateste update i can't find any of these books. Do any of you have the same problem?

Comment by MelanaAdara

the screen shots and info are useful, thanks. unfortunately the map itself is black

Comment by niqushortz

Realm jump seems like it's working for this. I found one book (and not fake one) on a different realm while on mine there wasn't one.

Comment by Galahfray

Map is black, but if you go here I found another one http://cdn.warcraftpets.com/images/guides/kirin_tor/dalaran_map.v6068.jpg

Comment by Nicholas0606

This is the most BS achieve in the entire game. I swear. Somehow people are still constantly snagging the books and no matter how much server hopping I do I find like two fake books but otherwise empty spawn points.

So stupid and annoying.

Comment by Breezed

Good guide and comments as well. I found 7 of 8 books in about 1 hour 40 minutes using the add-on cross realm assist. I'm camping the last spot now so hopefully it won't take much longer.

With Legion there are now two zones called "dalaran" so the updated TomTom macro should look like this:

/way Dalaran:Northrend 52.4 54.8 Abjuration
/way Dalaran:Northrend 56.6 45.6 Introduction
/way Dalaran:Northrend 47.0 39.2 Necromancy
/way Dalaran:Northrend 31.0 46.2 Conjuration
/way Dalaran:Northrend 26.5 52.0 Divination
/way Dalaran:Northrend 64.4 52.4 Illusion
/way Dalaran:Northrend 43.2 46.7 Enchantment
/way Dalaran:Northrend 46.9 39.9 Transmutation

Hi, I got the achi today, but I admit I was quite desperate with the Illusion tome.. I can confirm that it still spawns, and within the 3 to 4 hours timer. The only issue is you often get the fake version (I'd say, more often than with the other 5 books).

Comment by PRocque

While waiting for the Illusion book today, one spawned at 11:55am. Next book should have spawned between 2:55pm and 3:55pm for the 3-4 hour timer to still hold. Another (fake) book didn't spawn until 4:25pm, so exactly 4.5 hours after the last book. So at least this book location can take longer than 4 hours to spawn, I'm guessing the upward limit is 4.5 hours.
Not sure if this is just a random outlier that can occasionally happen, even back when this was current in WotLK, or if Blizz changed the spawn time window in a more recent expansion. Most comments say the windows is no less than 3, no more than 4.
From searching wowhead comments, it does seem like the Illusion book located near the Violet Hold tends be slightly more annoying than others to obtain. No guess if that's because of a lower spawn rate, or just pure RNG.
Hope this helps and it doesn't hurt to wait a little past that 4 hour mark - only need to do this achievement once, after all. Good luck!
Edit: So no sooner did I post this, I checked the spot again and there was the illusion book, I read it and the achievement popped and I got a mail alert from Rhonin. My advice is just be prepared to wait at the spawn locations for a few hours.
