Changes to Arcane Mage in WoW ForeverNew Abilities and Talents in WoW Forever

Spell

Description

Arcane Blast deals damage after 2.5 seconds, buffing all other spells by 10% per stack up to 4 stacks. Each stack increases its cost by 175%.

Missile Barrage

This talent is one of the two core changes for Arcane alongside the previously mentioned spell, providing an actual way to take advantage of the Arcane Blast stacks for effective damage at no mana cost.

Arcane Subtlety

Provides threat reduction to your arcane spells, allowing you to AoE more freely without worrying about threat. It also provides some spell piercing, which increases damage to enemies if they have no resistances.

Arcane Geometry

This increases the range of your Arcane spells by up to 6 yards; this isn't relevant a lot of the time, but you'll typically have at least one point in it to reach later talents.

Changes to Existing Abilities and Talents in WoW Forever

Spell

Change

Arcane Meditation

Allows your mana to continue regenerating even while casting; this got changed from 15% to 50% at max rank.

Arcane Mind

Provides the same Intellect as in past versions of Classic WoW, but now it also increases critical strike damage of arcane spells by 100%.

Arcane Focus

This got changed from 2% hit per point up to 10%, down to 1% per point, up to 5% - though it's relevant to not Hit as a whole got reworked and now can get fully capped at 17% - no more unavoidable 1% chance to miss.

Flamestrike

This can no longer overlap with different ranks of itself to increase the amount of current active damage over time effects on a certain area.

Incineration

This Fire talent now also provides Critical Strike Chance to Arcane Blast and Ice Lance, instead of just fire spells.

Arcane Blast Stacks - Each time you use Arcane Blast, you gain one debuff stack, stacking up to 4 - each stacking increasing both the mana cost of the following arcane blast, as well as the damage of any other spell you use after. This other spell will clear the stacks back to 0.
This is used to build up stacks and then use them to buff a meaningful spell afterwards; this is expected to be done with Arcane Missiles buffed by Missile Barrage, but there could be different iterations.

Mana Management - A very important aspect of arcane is to treat mana not as a problem, but instead as what you must push to the limit to get as much damage as you can out of your specialization. Finishing each fight at 0 mana is often the goal, assuming there's no important fight immediately after.
Interacting with Arcane Blast stacks, and going higher or lower in mana usage by clearing said stacks at 2-3 will be a lot more mana efficient than going up to 4 consistently at lower levels. And later on, it's likely to involve similar decisions, fishing for Missile Barrage procs after 4 stacks if unlucky vs using another spell to clear and stack Arcane Blast back up.

Though it's relevant that future balancing, additional spells, interactions between current spells, and such can change the basic examples given here.

Best Professions for Arcane Mage in Forever

Engineering is currently quite interesting as it now features Tinkers such as Nitro Boosts, which by themselves have made the profession BiS. It's been used for short bursts of movement to gain a ton of uptime (making it dps gain) or to avoid a mechanic entirely that'd otherwise require you to gear more defensively (gaining you offensive stats in a roundabout way).
Additionally, it'll still include the typical explosives and maybe some other utility-based ones, meaning it'll always have great value in raiding and PvP alike.

Tailoring provides embroidery enchants to cloth armor, but because we're only in Beta, we don't yet know if this will be WotLK-like with a spell power proc that has a specific icd on cloaks, just cheaper enchants like leg enchants with flat spell power in tbc/wotlk, or something else entirely.
If it's proc-based, it could be amazing for short fights or when combined with buffs like Arcane Power; if it's just flat spell power, then it falls under the same category as the following 3 professions.
