Soul Shard management Do not overcap Soul Shards. Destruction's Soul Shards resource is different than Affliction and Demonology, as all our shards are split into 10 soul shard fragments. We have great control over generating and spending this resource, so make sure you're aware of having Soul Shards when you need them, while not wasting any Soul Shards by overcapping.

Cooldown management:Being able to properly manage your cooldowns, such as Havoc and Summon Infernal will make a big difference in how much damage you're doing. Making sure you have the correct amount of Soul Shards before using these, and making sure you don't lose out on any uses, is a big difference maker between high DPS and low DPS.

Movement: When you're moving around, you only have very few ways to deal damage. You can play around with always casting abilities such as Conflagrate while running, but odds are you're going to lose out on DPS. That means, playing movement segments correctly will be a big difference maker. Utilizing abilities like Demonic Circle and Demonic Gateway properly will help you with that.

Pop Summon Infernal as well as any potions, trinkets and racials

Cast Malevolence to stack up your Wither

Cast Conflagrate to get this on cooldown, as well as to generate soul shards and Backdraft stacks

Generate and spend as many soul shards as possible during your cooldowns. Make sure you dump ALL your cooldowns before Malevolence runs out, to benefit the most from this.

Proceed onto the normal priority list

If you're playing Crashing Chaos, your Infernal cast also makes your damage more important. It's not only a point and click cooldown that does damage on its own; make sure you pair this up with any racial ability and trinkets if you can.

Keep in mind you can delay this cooldown as long as you don't miss out on uses. During a Mythic+ dungeon you will likely want to pop this as often as possible because you will lose out on uses otherwise, but popping it at the correct time is important.

Havoc

Keep in mind you can generate 2x Soul Shards with Havoc while your spenders don't cost extra.

Havoc only replicates 60% of the damage of your single-target abilities, meaning you should apply this to the less important target.

Make sure your target is going to live for the full Havoc duration if possible.

Touch of RancoraChaos Bolt

Demonic Art: Overlord - Charges your target and does a frontal cleave. Enemies hit by this cleave then takes increased damage from you and your demons because of the talent Cloven Souls. If the target you cast on to trigger the Demonic Art: Overlord dies before the overlord reaches the target, it instead swaps to a different target and hits that one. Keep this in mind, because if you're damaging a lot of targets, try not to trigger this onto a target that is standing alone. Try to aim this into a big pack for the most damage. Also, keep in mind your damage is increased to targets hit by this for 15 seconds, so try to hit those targets.

Demonic Art: Mother of Chaos - Summons next to you and starts channelling damage into your target. Additionally, triggering this demonic art changes your next Incinerate into Infernal Bolt which deals increased damage and generates 2 full Soul Shards. Make sure you do not overcap on Soul Shards by casting this. Instead, cast Chaos Bolt to go down to at least 2,5 Soul Shards, but ideally below 2 Soul Shards before casting Infernal Bolt. Also, the abilitiy Demonic Art: Mother of Chaos casts when summoned is a channelled AoE, which might not always start rechannelling onto a new target if the target dies during this channel. For that reason, try to cast this onto a target that's going to live for the full duration.

Demonic Art: Pit Lord - Is also summoned right next to you, and starts dealing pulsating AoE damage onto and around your target. Additionally, triggering this Demonic Art turns your next Chaos Bolt into Ruination. A very powerful AoE around your target. Make sure you cast this on the mob where it's going to hit the most targets possible.

I notices that the Chaos Bolt tooltip actually shows it having a cost of 20 soul shards, which it definitely hasn’t!

Please update guide. Talent builds in particular need updating. With current stat levels eradication and internal combustion are taking a back seat to Flashover and reverse entropy in 1 target scenarios. Especially depending on what azerite traits you use.

The guide recommends to use Hellcaller in AoE, but no mention of it's skills are in the rotation, including the massive Malevolence.

Since the guide still doesn't mention it at all, even as the patch is almost over, here's the 11.0 Hellcaller deal for those who haven't gone elsewhere to look it up.

Assuming the Hellcaller M+ build from the Talents page.

Opener:

Cast Cataclysm so that it finishes as the boss/trash pack is pulled/in position
Conflagrate
Shadowburn
Channel Demonfire
Summon Infernal
Use any trinkets and racials
Malevolence
Continue regular rotation

The goal of the opener is to get Wither applied to as many targets as possible, use Channel Demonfire to increase the DoT's duration to the max, and only then get your CDs going so that you can focus on generating and spending as many soul shards as possible while your Infernal and Malevolence are up. Conflagrate and Shadowburn are used early to get charges rolling, and it's best to have Roaring Blaze for Channel Demonfire.

If you're pulling a boss with a timer, you can precast Incinerate at 3 seconds to pull.

For the rest of the rotation, use the guide's respective sections. Immolate becomes Wither, of course.

As for Malevolence, just use it on cooldown. Make sure that as many targets as possible have Wither beforehand. You can delay Malevolence slightly if you know that adds which will live longer than 10-ish seconds will spawn/be pulled soon, and Cataclysm will be ready for it. If it's just a few mobs, you can also manually apply Wither to each. But don't delay Malevolence too long because you want to align it with your Infernal.

Malevolence should be cast after Summon Infernal since its duration is shorter.

While Malevolence and/or Infernal are up, spend soul shards aggressively. Try to use as many spenders as possible to get the most out of your CDs.

In singletarget situations, you should pool a few soul shards (3-4) in preparation for your CDs. Don't pool shards in AoE because all of your Withers and Rain of Fire will generate tons of shards, and you don't want to overcap.

Cast Channel Demonfire while Roaring Blaze is up. This is less important for AoE.

This guide mentions that you should use Soul FIre on eradication instead of Chaos Bolt because it's higher base damage, but that's just... not true? CB does way more than it

Okay it's patch 11.2.7 and I was trying build an alt Destro Lock. You Single target rotation says to use Shadowburn but it's not in the pre-build you have for it. Also says to use berserkIng but I can't find that either, please update.

Hey Loozy you forgot to put what to spend soul shards on in the AoE rotation :)

Cast Malevolence, and spend as many Soul Shards Soul Shards during this as possible

Unclear if that's spend them on Chaos Bolts or Rain of Fire for AoE for the newbies.

This warlock thread is exactly why people don't play/want to play warlock. Compared to every other class thread this thing has next to zero flexibility in terms of choosing talents to depict or give a general idea of what to do, plus it seems as though it's pretty outdated. Whoever runs this thing either needs to find a new side hustle or just stop altogether. What an absolute !@#$show.
