Weekly Event - Researchers Under FireResearchers Under Fire

The event is inactive at the top of the hour for 30 minutes (x:00 to x:30) ("The researchers will be starting an expedition to lift the Titan lockdown soon.")

The event is active in Phase 1 for the next 20 minutes of the hour (:x30 to x:50). During this time, everyone in the area has to complete as many tasks for the research forces as possible. ("Rannan and his team are in the field. Assist them in lifting the titan mining camp lockdown.")

From x:50 to x:55, the event will enter its final phase, in which the Sundered Flame will launch a direct attack at the researcher forces. You have 5 minutes to defeat the Sundered Flame forces and their leader, Captain Reykal. Once Reykal is defeated, you can talk to Rannan Korren to complete the event and earn its rewards.

Once the event is turned in, it will disappear until the top of the next hour, in which the rotation will start all over again.

The Dragonscale Expedition is leading a survey effort in the Throughway. Defeat Agitated Crystallines near the area to contribute to the survey. The event ends once the survey reaches 100%.Spawn announcement: The sound of crystals ringing echoes through the cavern. The geological survey is about to begin near the Throughway!

Glimmerfish Before It's Gone

A massive Glimmerfish has spawned from the waterfalls in Glimmerogg. Attack the giant fish to obtain its coveted scales. The fish will travel through the river that runs from Glimmerogg all the way to the Zaqali Caldera lava. The event ends when 50 scales are gathered, or the fish meets the lava (which fails the event).

A Crumbling Statue will show up in Nal Ks'kol. Fly around the area to find its missing pieces, and bring it back to the statue. Receiving damage or mounting will drop the items you're carrying. Fully repairing the statue completes the event.

Mortar Warfare

The djaradin are attempting to arm two Dragonkiller Ballistae in Igira's Watch. Collect balls of Frothing Lava and throw them at the ballistae to destroy them. Each ballista takes 10 balls of Frothing Lava to destroy. Destroy both ballistae to complete the event.Spawn announcement: War cries erupt from the caldera as the djaradin begin to assemble their ballistae.

Seismic Ceremony

The Primalists have conjured earth runes in the Zaqali Caldera. Interact with the runes to remove an activation stack. The runes stun everyone around them every ~7s, and each deactivation spawns two adds. Each rune requires 3 interactions to fully deactivate. The event ends once all four runes are deactivated.Spawn announcement: The caldera begins to rumble...

Shellfire

A massive rock snail is on fire near Loamm. Douse the snail's fire by picking up buckets of sand and throwing them at the snail while avoiding fire adds. The snail has 40 stacks of fire, and each bucket can douse away 5 stacks. The event ends once Bessie's fire is put out.Spawn announcement: A fire elemental approaches Olfor and Big Bessie!

The event ends once the cauldron is fully filled.Spawn announcement: Muskmettle the Smellomancer is getting ready to brew!

Stress Express

Moodurp's wagon has broken down in the Throughway. Help him escort the wagon back to Loamm by DPSing it while avoiding attacks from Moodurp's bully. The event ends once the wagon reaches Loamm.

The Champion's Challenge

A weight-lifting competition starts in Glimerogg. Pick up weights to gain score and prevent other Drogbar from kicking the weights from your hands. The event ends once you earn 100% lifting score from Judge Roggul.Spawn announcement: A weightlifting competition is about to begin in Glimmerogg!

Whirling Zephyr

A Greater Storm Pylon channeled by four Lesser Storm Pylons will spawn in the Crystal Fields. These Pylons can be deactivated by killing Primalists nearby and looting Hurricane Scepter. Each Lesser Pylon takes 4 Scepters, and the final Greater Pylon takes 7 Scepters. Is there are requirement to be able to access the zone other than to be be level 70?

Comment by orca2017

This a is fantastic breakdown there so much for open world players. Love it..I just want a crystal snail..and looks like a lot of things are once per week..then a couple of things are dailies..it's a great mix.

Comment by mrwindu88

There is an error in the section explaining the chests that contain crests that you can buy. The tooltip for the chests says that you get fragments but in the guide you say that they turn into 2, 4, 5, 10 or 15 fuly crafted crests (depending on the chest). It should be fragments and not fully crafted crests

Comment by 932710

Rares can drop gear not for your class. I received a mail chest on a monk.

GG Blizz this really fits with the new upgrade system

Comment by Zeaket

Didn't see it mentioned here but there appears to be more one time profession treasures that reward knowledge in the caverns as well. I found 2 for Blacksmithing yesterday - one was a spear around either the Caldera or Aberrus, I forget. The other one was in Loamm. Each gave 3 knowledge.

Comment by Serujuunin

Is there anything in this zone that is BoA like the armor tokens from the Forbidden Reach?

Comment by AverageJ

In the Zaralek Cavern Rare section there are different coordinates for Subterrax in the list and for the way coordinates . The coordinates 38.45 46.56 are the correct ones.

Comment by teelo

Since the game only shows events on your map if its nearby, get a waypoint from across the zone when an event spawns in: https://legacy.curseforge.com/wow/addons/where-the-zaralek

Comment by Icrashdump

Can I somehow return if I have done the rare?

Comment by shanekuchler

you are wrong, you can not instantly do this, there are a ton of prerequisite quests to do first, problem is it does not tell you what quests you must do first

Comment by Myhx91

Are the Zone Events for sure weekly? I've done the Cart one twice now and the macros tell me I haven't done the Hydra when I definitely have. I'm thinking Bi-weekly maybe?

Comment by JustJude

It would have been really nice if they had connected the Zaralek Cavern flight paths to the Dragon Isles mainland.
From the forums it is apparent that a not-insignificant number of players find dragon riding difficult or simply not to their liking and there seems no obvious reason why the two areas should not be connected by flight paths?
We are able to fly between the two areas on dragons, so why would flight masters be unable to operate flight paths?
Seems like an obvious QoL feature and I am unsure why they would leave it out?

Comment by Mattarias

The pair of howls is for the corehound rare Flowfy, I believe, not the hydra event.

Comment by Taizunz

"A pair of terrifying howls pierce the air." isn't the spawn announcement for Hungry Hydras, it's for Flowfy.

Comment by shadowfel

is it safe to say that this zone is probably the worst zone they put out in recent memory?, i feel like its up there with the maw before they allowed for mounting in terms of annoyance: long drawn out wqs, low respawn rates of mobs, items that disappear when you cast any ability, zones with stupid op mobs that one shot even well geared characters, they didnt even bother to put a portal back to the city like they usually do for patch zones

Comment by Jevist

All Zaralek Cavern can be killed for their rewards once a day, their loot lockdowns resetting with the daily quest reset.

Is that still true? It seems to have changed in the hotfix of May 22:

Zaralek Cavern
The loot lockout now resets when the content in a given area of the map becomes available. Now, when world quests are visible in an area, the rare elite enemies in that area will also be available. Rare elite rewards have been increased to offset their reduced frequency.
Developers’ notes: Unlike Forbidden Reach, the rare elites in Zaralek Cavern are meant to be a bonus, rather than the primary activity.

But how often is that, and how can I as a casual player know when I can get loot from the rares again?
(My guild is abandoned, so for my gear I only do heroics and LfR, as such I NEED the Drake's shadowflame crest fragments to improve and this has become even harder now...)

Comment by justgiz

I recently acquired a Microlicid battle pet. And I thought I'd come back down here to finish that one Snailspiration quest. Only to learn that because I finished the chain and acquired the mount, I can not complete the quest.

Does it make sense that I can't; Yes.
Is it weird that I'm bothered that I can't complete it for completion's sake; Also yes.

Comment by JinthayaRogue

What an absolute bummer these spawn timers are for these rares.

This content is only a season old at this point so it doesn't make sense to have such a choke-hold on the rare spawn timers. I'm trying to do one of what could be the most fun achievements (Cavern Clawbbering) and I've wasted hours, studied the ZC Rare Zone Divisions Sheet more than I have my kids' school calenders (smh), and I still haven't been able to see/simply tag some rares that are supposed to spawn hourly? Make is make sense, devs. This should be silly and fun (we're literally turning into blue crabs and attacking big monsters) and you've managed to eliminate all of those aspects and make it a time-sink & a chore. I'm bummed.

The area is actually really cool and fun and has so many unique aspects compared to other underground areas we've played in. Don't suck the pleasure out of it needlessly, please.

Comment by Cophodax

Note for late players catching up on rep: Zaralek world quests did not open up for me until completion of Fair Skies and Strong Winds#
