Scout Tomul

The first centaur that players encounter, Scout Tomul is a member from Clan Shikaar who is known for her excellent eyesight and skills as a scout. Despite her valuable contributions to the clan, Tomul can be irritable towards players. In addition to her duties as a scout, Tomul also oversees Grand Hunts.

Scout Tomul says: Even a young hunter can aid in a proto-drake hunt. Let us see what you've got, outsider.

Sansok Khan

Sansok Khan is the leader of the Shikaar clan. Sansok is deaf, and so she speaks to outsiders who cannot use sign language through her interpreter, Okir, and is always accompanied by her hearing bakar, Basran. As a leader, Sansok is well-liked, and her clan is known to boast of her great hunting prowess.

Okir says: I am Sansok Khan, leader of the Shikaar.

Ohn Seshteng

The spiritual advisor to Clan Shikaar, Ohn Seshteng is, like all Maruukai mythics, of Clan Ohn'ir. Born of Clan Toghus, a minor centaur clan, she showed signs of a natural connection to Ohn'ahra when she was still a foal. Her main duty is to advise Sansok Khan with Ohn'ahra's words.

Ohn Seshteng says: The storm is Ohn'ahra's most dire warning, an affront to her gift.

Khanam Matra Sarest

The Khanam Matra is leader not only of Clan Teerai, but of all the Maruuk centaur as well. Like all the Khanam Matra before her, Sarest is descended from Teera herself.

Khanam Matra Sarest says: If Ohn'ahra wills it, I will blow the Horn of Drushahl on the morrow to signal our accord with the green dragonflight.

Tigari Khan

Leader of the Ohn'ir Clan, Tigari Khan is an expert in reading omens from Ohn'ahra, and will often be consulted by those members of her clan who have been placed with other clans. Tigari Khan is always accompanied by her ohuna, Altan.

Tigari Khan says: We cannot stop the wind, Seshteng, nor reverse its course. We must be guided by it, even into tumult.

Balakar Khan

Balakar Khan is the leader of the Nokhud clan. While Balakar's father was respected for his honor, patience, and wisdom, it is said Balakar did not inherit these traits. The Khan is resentful of what he views as the Maruuk's growing weakness, and wishes to restore their past glory. He has shown himself to be ruthless in order to achieve his ends, and even murdered his own father. Balakar Khan is the final boss of the Nokhud Offensive.

Balakar Khan says: The Nokhud deserve the power of the storm! We will show the Maruuk how far they have fallen.

Boku

Initiate Boku is a young mystic and member of Clan Ohn'ir. Though Boku lacks confidence, the rest of his clan has faith in him.

Initiate Boku says: I hear nothing. I am not fit to be a mystic.
Green Dragonflight

Gemiseth

Gemiseth is a green dragonspawn who has spent most of her life in the Emerald Gardens. She is chosen to act as an emissary for the Green Dragonflight, to ask the Maruuk Centaur to honor their ancient pact with Merithra.

Gemisath says: It is my honor to represent my flight. It has been many years since our people connected.

Gerithus

The Green Dragon Gerithus is the son of Merithra and grandson of Ysera. His mother values his advice, choosing to discuss matters of importance with him, and he can often be seen by her side. The Green Dragon is also not above letting the player ride on his back.

Gerithas says: Come, little one.

Merithra

Merithra is Ysera's daughter, and leader of the Green Dragonflight. It was Merithra who first established a pact between the Green Dragonflight and the Centaur after she formed a friendship with the Maruuk Centaur's ancestor, Teera.

Merithra says: I vow to protect the Emerald Dream, and the green dragonflight, with my life.
Spirits

Ohn'ahra

Ohn'ahra is the Wild God of the Wind. The giant Eagle Spirit is worshipped by the Maruuk Centaur, who she leads with advice that she sends through her winds - clan Ohn'ir interpret the winds to discover her words. For Ohn'ahran, the worst, more dire warning is the Storm - a warning she only gives when terrible troubles and betrayals are ahead. It was Ohn'ahra who first led the Maruuk centaur to the Ohn'ahran Plains.

Ohn Seshteng says: We are guided by Ohn'ahra. It was she who granted us these lands, who arbitrated with the dragons.

Teera

Teera was the Maruuk centuar's first matriarch, or Khanam, and one of the clan's founders - along with her husband, Maruuk. Together, she and Maruuk settled in Ohn'ahran Plains during the War of the Ancients, and Teera became sole leader of the clan after her husband's death. Teera made a pact with Merithra, forever forging an alliance between the Maruuk centaur and the Green Dragonflight.

Teera's Spirit says: It is good to know Clan Teerai still thrives! You have my gratitude for saving me from fighting against my own people.

Maruuk

Maruuk was Teera's husband and co-founder of the Maruuk centaur. Maruuk was a war hero, earning the name "Thousandbones" from the many demon corpses he created during the War of the Ancients, before helping his wife lead the centaur to settle in Ohn'ahran Plains. Maruuk died from the wounds inflicted by assassins sent by other centaur clans, jealous of his great strength, and in her grief, Teera named their own clan the "Maruuk" after her fallen husband.

Maruuk's Spirit says: Many thanks, friend, for returning me to my rightful resting place. It is good to know the centaur have more friends than when we first chose to leave our homes.
Primalists

Koroleth

Koroleth is a Night Elf Primalist leader and servant of Raszageth the Storm-Eater. Koroleth acts as a Primalist ambassador to the centaur clans, and can be witnessed bringing the Primalists' arguments to certain clan leaders.

Koroleth says: It has been ten thousand years since the dragons were last in the Isles. They are invaders upon your land. Join the Primalists. Embrace the storm. We will aid you in the battles to come.

The Four Clans

Clan Shikaar

Clan Shikaar are the first clan we encounter. They specialize in honing their skills and hunting game across the plains.

Leader: Sansok Khan
Specialization: Hunting

Okir says: We of clan Shikaar are the strongest hunters. You can find our camps spread throughout the plains, following the patterns of wildlife and game.

Clan Ohn'ir

Clan Ohn'ir is made up of centaur from across the plains who have honed a special connection to the Maruuk god, Ohn'ahra. The centaur from this clan spread out among the other clans, performing rituals and providing spiritual advise.

Leader: Tigari Khan
Specialization: Spiritual matters

Ohn Seshteng says: Ohn'ahra, the Windmother, is the ancestor of all ohuna. She led our founders, Maruuk and Teera, to the plains. My clanmates interpret her songs to advise our people.

Clan Teerai

Clan Teerai uphold the centaur's ancestors' traditions and guide the Maruuk according to their ways. Their leader is the Khanam Matra of all the Maruuk clans, and she is always a direct descendent of the Maruuk's first matriarch, Teera. When a Khanam Matr passses, a new one is chosen from her daughters and granddaughters, the Dotur.

Qariin Dotur says: Ancestors! Be welcome at our Khural. Watch over us as we follow in your hoofprints.

Clan Nokhud

Clan Nokhud is the newest clan to rise to power, and it maintains the largest standing military force. They place a great emphasis on strength, constantly sparring in a battle ritual called the tabarr to harden themselves, and they believe in expressing themselves through battle.

Specialization: Military force

Balakar Khan says: The Nokhud deserve the power of the storm! We will show the Maruuk how far they have fallen.

Story Summary

Into the Plains

You arrived in the Ohn'ahran Plains to reach the green dragonflight and help them empower the Emerald Oathstone. To do so, you had to establish diplomacy with the Maruuk centaur so that you could cross their lands.

You met Scout Tomul of Clan Shikaar and aided her hunting party in taking down a proto-dragon. She introduced you to Sansok Khan, the deaf leader of Clan Shikaar. She shared that the green dragons were sending an emissary to the centaur's upcoming gathering and agreed to bring you along if you pulled your weight.

You traveled alongside the caravan, sharing stories and hunting alongside them during the journey. You helped their mystic, Ohn Seshteng, receive a bleak omen from their god, Ohn'ahra, before arriving in Maruukai.

Maruukai

You arrived in Maruukai for the centaur gathering, the Khural. You met the other powerful clans of the plains.

You met Clan Teerai, the tradition keepers, and helped cook an offering for the ancestors.

You met Clan Ohn'ir mystics and helped clarify an earlier omen, revealing that Ohn'ahra is in danger.

You met Clan Nokhud, the warriors, and sparred with them.

You met the emerald emissary, Gemisath, and learned that the green dragons needed the centaurs' aid to push back a Primalist threat. As the centaur leader, the Khanam Matra, agreed to help Gemisath, the Nokhud Khan Balakar arrived and killed Gemisath, throwing his lot in with the Primalists. You defeated his forces that launched an attack on Maruukai.

Ohn'ahra's Blessing

The Khanam Matra shared that she must blow the ancient Horn of Drusahl to answer the dragons' call for an alliance, but she needs Ohn'ahra's blessing. She sent you to her clan's home to ready her forces for war and connect with the mystics.

You spread the news of war and meet Boku, an anxious mystic who cannot hear Ohn'ahra. You accompanied him to find the other mystics at Ridgewater Retreat and find that Clan Nokhud has attacked. After saving some of the initiates, the Ohn'ir leader Tigari Khan sent you and Boku to find Ohn'ahra. You discovered the Primalists and Nokhud attacking Windsong Rise as Koroleth tried to capture Ohn'ahra.

Though you attempted to stop her, Koroleth knocked the two of you off the cliff and out of her way.

Bonds Renewed

(The following is from our own summary, as there is no in-game quest summary for this chapter.)

You rush to protect the Horn of Drusahl from Clan Nokhud and the Primalists, but are too late. The Primalists use the still-trapped Ohn'ahra to activate the Horn, summoning Merithra, leader of the Green Dragonflight.

Clan Nokhud and the Primalists fatally wound one of the Merithra's companions before fleeing, and you join the Green Dragonflight at their Emerald Gardens, to help in the fight against the Primalists and their Nokhud allies.

Once you've achieved victory, you witness the Green Dragonflight and the centaur of Ohn'ahran Plains renew their vows of friendship, and Merithra empowers the Emerald Oathstone.
Maruuk Centaur Stories and CultureMaruuk ClansOkir says: The Maruuk centaur include many individual clans across the plains.
Okir says: There are four of us who hold the most power: Clans Teerai, Shikaar, Nokhud, and Ohn'ir.
Okir says: Clan Teerai are the keepers of our traditions. Their leader, the Khanam Matra, is the cultural khan of all Maruuk. All khanam matras can trace their bloodlines back to our first matriarch, Teera.
Okir says: We of clan Shikaar are the strongest hunters. You can find our camps spread throughout the plains, following the patterns of wildlife and game.
Scout Tomul says: Clan Nokhud has recently come to power. A generation ago, Jhakan Khan led his people to defeat Clan Toghus, taking their place of power amongst the plains.
Scout Tomul says: His son, Balakar Khan, now leads this clan. His father was a man of honor, but Balakar Khan did not inherit his father's patience or wisdom.
Ohn Seshteng says: My clan, Clan Ohn'ir, is made up of those who feel a direct connection to our god, Ohn'ahra. She guided our founders, Maruuk and Teera, to the Dragon Isles, and she has watched over our people ever since.
Ohn Seshteng says: The mystics of Clan Ohn'ir are initiated from many different clans, but we all followed Ohn'ahra's call to serve her and our people.
Okir says: The clans have our differences, but we share one culture. No matter our strengths and weaknesses, we are all Maruuk.
Belika says: Two-foot, you've fought many foes in your time, yes? You will have to share some stories.
Scout Tomul says: Have I ever shared the tale of my first kill, Belika? A mighty hornstrider with horns as tall as its legs were long! I keep its horn as a trophy.
Okir says: It was a good kill, Tomul. My first was a mighty bear of ice and snow, deep in the frozen tundra of the Azure Span. My bakar and I knew no equals. We were the talk of the Khural!
Scout Tomul says: Ah, we have reached our first stop. Circle the wagons, Shikaar. It is time for a hunt.The Horn of DrusahlAru says: The Horn of Drusahl will be visible once we cross the bridge. You must see it, two-foot!
Okir says: Ah, yes. The Horn represents the ancient pact formed by Teera and a green dragon named Merithra. Their friendship ended a long enmity between dragons and Maruuk.
Okir says: Afterward, the centaur hunted the plains, and the dragons tended the gardens. But they agreed to help one another in times of need. The Horn of Drusahl was built as a physical manifestation of their oath.
Scout Tomul says: But then, the dragons left. And after ten thousand years, they return to these lands! I am interested to hear what the Khanam Matra says about that.
Ohn Seshteng says: We are guided by Ohn'ahra, Tomul. It was she who granted us these lands, who arbitrated with the dragons. She knows the way.
Ohn Seshteng says: Ohn'ahra, the Windmother, is the ancestor of all ohuna. She led our founders, Maruuk and Teera, to the plains. My clanmates interpret her songs to advise our people.

Okir says: Each season we meet for the Khural, a time of truce and communion. Clans large and small come together, sharing our resources and our stories.
Ohn Seshteng says: I do look forward to reconnecting to my peers. Perhaps Tigari Khan can help me decipher this omen from the river.
Shikaar Scout yells: The caravan from Timberstep Outpost approaches. The final khan has arrived!
Scout Tomul says: I am going to avoid the Nokhud. They antagonize everyone at these things.
Okir says: The rest of the Shikaar should have already arrived from the other camps. Our rise should be well settled by the time we arrive.
Okir says: It seems the other clans beat us here. Between our outsider and the green dragon emissary, this should be a Khural to remember.Merithra's PactOver ten thousand years ago, the centaur came to the dragon isles, looking for a place to call home. They laid claim to the vast, open plains near our gardens. At the beginning, centaur and dragon were foes, hunting each other and fighting over territory.

It was the centaur's first matriarch, Teera, and Merithra herself who were the first to fight alongside each other. They proved the strength of centaur and dragon together, that it would be only beneficial to their people to lay down arms against each other. They made a pact of respect to stay out of each others' way, but to provide aid to each other when their livelihoods were threatened.

Though it has been generations for the centaur, Merithra hopes that the pact may still stand. Renewal of VowsMerithra says: From the hunters who value skill above all, a rite of passage. A first.
Merithra says: From the mystics who commune with the wind, her lightest touch. A lift.
Merithra says: From the descendants of the matriarch, a drop of unbroken progeny. An ancient line, unforgotten. Clan Shikaar's Vow Suggest she offers her first kill.
Okir says: My first kill was quite some time ago. Nothing of it remains.

Okir says: Absolutely not. Try again.

Suggest a trophy from her first hunt.
Okir says: Yes, that makes sense. After their first hunt, a young hunter of our clan receives a ceremonial spear. Take mine.
