Previously in the Shadowlands Beta, we tested a design where Conquest served as both the currency for the Great Vault and the currency for purchasing PvP gear from the vendors, with a weekly cap. From the outset, two of our main goals with PvP gearing in Shadowlands were:

Give players more direct control over their gearing by spending earned Conquest at PvP vendors, with an accessible cap and catch-up system.

Allow the Great Vault to supplement PvP gearing for Rated players, with a rewards track that is closely aligned to other organized endgame activities (Mythic Keystone dungeons, Raiding).

However, in Beta testing, we found that because by definition Conquest can’t be earned after hitting the weekly cap, using the same currency for both systems made capping Conquest and earning Conquest gear take much more effort than had been the case in past expansions’ iterations of the Conquest system.

In the live game, we recently updated Honor to be a currency that is rewarded by all PvP activities, including Rated ones. So in this design, we’ve shifted the Great Vault to require Honor from Rated activities only. Earning Honor through Rated PvP each week will result in a valuable reward from the Great Vault, and that allows us to detach Conquest from the Great Vault and place the Conquest cap much lower.

This means that players who do Rated PvP will earn their purchases from the PvP vendor much faster, and since Honor from Rated activities is uncapped, those who are really into PvP can continue to progress towards unlocking the second and third Great Vault options after capping Conquest for the week.

We’ve seen several questions recently about how PvP progression will look over the next few weeks, and we have answers.

First and foremost, Honor is the new currency that was introduced with the Shadowlands Pre-patch. Players can earn Honor from honorable kills, Battlegrounds, Epic Battlegrounds, skirmishes, Arenas, and Rated Battlegrounds. Honor can be spent to purchase gear from Purveryor Zo’kuul in Oribos. This gear can be upgraded by Agressor Zo’dash for Honor. The upper limit of this kind of upgrade is determined by your Renown level, and players can hold a maximum of 15000 Honor.

Conquest is an additional PvP currency. Players can earn Conquest from Battlegrounds, Epic Battlegrounds, Arenas, and Rated Battlegrounds. Players can spend Conquest to purchase gear from Zo’sorg in Oribos. This gear can be upgraded by Agressor Zo’dash for Honor. The upper limit of this upgrade is determined by your current highest rating bracket in Arenas or Rated Battlegrounds:

There is a cap on how much can be earned during a season. This cap increases by 550 each week. This means that during week 1, the cap is 550. During week 2, the cap is 1100.

If you earn 550 Conquest during week 1, you will then be able to earn 550 Conquest during week 2.
If you earn no Conquest during week 1, you will then be able to earn 1100 Conquest during week 2.
If you earn 400 Conquest during week 1, you will then be able to earn 700 Conquest during week 2.
Finally, you should not have to wait for Conduit upgrades. Conduits appear at higher rank on the vendor automatically when your rating increases.

Rank 1-3 has no Renown requirement.

Rank 4-5 requires minimum Renown 43.

Rank 6-7 requires minimum Renown 59.

"You unlock the ability to upgrade your gear to higher item levels as you increase your Renown to level 7 and 10."

Guide is outdated/wrong:

You need Renown Level 7 to unlock the ability to upgrade "Unrated PvP equipment" UP to Rank 5 and Renown Level 22 (!) UP to Rank 7. At the beginning you can only upgrade to rank 3 (ilvl 171, same as heroic dungeon loot).

I believe the requirements for the different Unrated PvP equipment upgrade ranks are as follows (correct me if I'm wrong as the guide fails to explain it properly):

Rank 2-3 => Renown 0
Rank 4-5 => Renown 7
Rank 6-7 => Renown 22

Weekly Vault

"Earning Honor only from rated PvP activities can gain you up to three extra chances, at 1250 Conquest, 2500 Conquest, and 6250 Conquest respectively."

Conquest Gear

"You can then upgrade this gear using Honor as we increase in PvP Rank."

Wait a minute. Are you serious? So we only can only upgrade our Conquest gear and get extra loot rolls in the vault if we participate in Ranked PvP? Unranked casuals will never get beyond ilvl 200 which is just Normal Raid gear? I was never PvP ranked in BfA and never raided and yet still managed to get Heroic Raid gear levels from casual solo play.

Bring back the PvP chest from BfA and remove this ridiculous vault.

what on earth is the reasoning behind 22 renown for 194 gear. people will have cleared HC and multiple conquest pieces and weekly vaults and world bosses long before reaching 22, is anyone even going to benefit from this? like a single person?

i currently have rank 5 of the unrated pvp set, and i have Venthyr as covenant. I want to switch to Night Fae, which will reset my renown status to zero. Will i lose the rank 5 status of my set?

How do conduits from the Conquest vendor work? I see that the ilvl I can buy them at increases with my rating, but what happens if I buy one at ilvl 200 and then I hit 2100 rating? Do I need to buy the higher ilvl one for another 200 conquest?

The trend here of everything you want is gated by renown blows, especially since renown itself is gated. the unranked honor gear is clearly not worth it when you could just buy at 200 ilvl. conquest gear. honor is easier to farm than conquest but you have to farm conquest anyway and that alot of honor to on a gear slot just to wind up below conquest.

About Conquest gear, it states:

You can then upgrade this gear using Honor as we increase in PvP Rank.

Unranked (from vendor) Item level 200
Combatant (1400-1599) Item Level 207
Challenger (1600-1799) Item Level 213
Rival (1800-2099) Item Level 220
Duelist (2100+) Item level 226

but does this refer to one's current rating, or max rating?

Let's say I reach 1800, then I drop to 1790, can I still upgrade my Challenger item to Rival, or not?

Does anyone have a table of values for upgrading conquest gear? For example, I bought a 1h dagger for 900 conquest and I upgraded it twice. The first upgrade was 800 honor, the second upgrade was 1600 honor. Is there a table out there for the costs of every item slot's honor cost for upgrading at every ranking? (Unranked, Combatant, Challenger, Rival, Duelist, Gladiator).

I can't find that information anywhere. The only info I can find is the cost of upgrading honor gear, not conquest gear.

The reason I clicked on this guide was because I want to know what the upgrade costs of conquest gear are. I want to know exactly how much honor it would cost to get an alt from full 200 to 220 after getting rival (note: this is hypothetically at the end of season when you can get full 200 geared from conquest cap). I’m thinking it’s somewhere around 50k honor or more... it cost me 10k yesterday to upgrade 5 pieces from 213 to 220 so I’m just tryna get exact numbers.

Seems *!@#$%Ed i have no one out of 4 ppl in my guild that pvp, cant get into groups for rated rbgsin the lfg premade groups thing , casue i have no rating , so what im sposed to be stuck at ilvl 200 getting ganked by allys with all the heroic and mythic gear , and on alts how you suposed to ctach up on conquest after weeks when u only get 40 for the first win and 8 after that , no to mention all the normal rbgs are full of ally premade teans farming and it takes a whole day to win just 2 or 3 bgs raiding is boring as hell and raidfinder gear is at 187 which is basically useless

3/27/21.. Purveyor Zo'kuul in Oribos is showing level 56 NOT 60 to purchase the Sinful PvP gear. When did it drop to 56 from 60? It still has a starting ilvl of 158, so ? Is this some bug?

This guide is outdated for 9.2.7 even though it says its updated for that.
