Why Should I Participate in the Radiant Echoes Pre-Patch Event?

The event rewards include ilvl 480 Veteran 1/8 gear (upgradeable up to ilvl502), which is a decent catch-up for alts that have not actively played through Dragonflight Seasons 3 and 4. This gear will last halfway through The War Within leveling, where players will start to find replacement pieces in around level 75 quests.

The event can be started at level 10, providing players with yet another way to level and prepare for The War Within!

There are some time-limited rewards that will no longer become obtainable at The War Within launch:
The This Takes Me Back Feat of Strength;

The Remembered Construct, Remembered Riverpaw, and Remembered Spawn Battle Pets;

The Remembered Golden Gryphon and Remembered Wind Rider Mounts;

The Defender's Hefty Satchel, a 32-slot Bag and the Recruit's Reagent Bag, a 30-slot Reagent Bag - both Warband bound;

The Band of Radiant Echoes Heirloom Ring.

Stupid question time. How do I access this event? Just logged in and no obvious pick-up quest. Was automatically given the warband bank one, which is now done and completed, but nothing to point me to these invasions and no portals in Dalaran to take me to them.

30 slot reagent bag is pretty useless as you can buy a 32 slot Wildercloth Simply Stitched Reagent Bag for around 12 gold on our server, or 36 slot Chronocloth Reagent Bag for around 2000g. I guess the other bags are OK as a currency-dump if you have bought everything else.

I'm a little confused - I helped kill the blob boss in SG, but the quest zone stays active. I got a completed quest with no loot. Meanwhile in SG it says kill Ragnaros but doesnt show/say where. Then it was labeled over and return to Dalaran, while in Dalaran it says the current RE is stil going for a while. So I went back to SG and it said return to Dalaran.

Unlike past events that had phases and built to a finale where you kill the boss, the first thing that spawns is the boss and then you spend the rest of the time killing mobs for currency.

This Event is a complete Troll.

In Numbers.
(Not including grind)
-90 Minutes per Event
-2-3k Currency optainable per Event / Daily Quest
-Only doable once per Account in one Cycle

So if you do it on one char you need atleast a total of 3 hrs time to get all 3 Zones done.
This gives you around 7-8k Memories.

A 2-Handed Weapon costs 8k.
so you need to do that stuff and hope that you go right into the Event at the start of a new zone.
Otherwise the Event is done under 5 Minutes atm and if you fail to participate in this time, you are locked with your entire account until the cycle renews.

Overall this Event is a complete wipe of fun in my opinion.
I dont wanna spend 3 hrs per char (If you are lucky) to get one Weapon or grind 2000 Mobs for the same value.
I dont understand why there isnt a 5 Minute cooldown on the Zone when the Boss dies.
So you could do the Event with alts in the same cycle as your main.

Events are bugged. Will not spawn the last Radiant Echo point in both Duskwallow and Dragonblight. Considering it's a 4.5 hour wait for that zone to come back out, makes this pre-patch 'event' broken and a waste of time. Come back when the expac launches and don't waste your time.

Okay this is so much better now. The event is now every hour and runs for the whole hour

The Wowhead homepage isn't always in sync with the server so to work out where the current event is go through the portal that has 'Radiant Echoes will be active for...' above it.

1. Run around clearing out the various memories - this rewards a decent amount of Residual Memories now and is action packed
2. Wen the named Boss spawns jump in and join the kill - still a bit laggy though
3. Hand in quest (only once per day per character)

Repeat!

p.s. Note that the event rotates in the same order as the portals from left to right. Searing Gorge > Dustwallow Marsh > Dragonblight > Searing Gorge >>> etc
p.p.s If the quest isn't available then you've done it already for that portal and that character that day

My opinion.........start doing this event after August 13. You will get all rewards in a couple of days tops without having to encounter bugs and stuff

I've done it once on one toon, and I have to say the thought of grinding currency between the start of events at a rate of 1 per kill, or 5 per kill if you sit on where an elite spawns, does not fill me with joy. It's mindless, it's boring, and I don't think I will be gathering anywhere near enough currency to buy all the goodies because I'm so very sick of the continual time-sinks that are nothing more than torturous.

It is not fun. It is not satisfying. It is just a grind. The devs can do better; this just feels lazy and ill conceived.

Tryed the last two Events on EU server both where buggy endboss didn t spawn nice waste of time even with them not beeing buggy the amount of resurce you would get just sucks and the hole event is bad if you are too late or it lags too much you wasted 90 minutes. Thats one of the worst designes you could come up with don t know what they are thinking...

So far this feels like a swing and a miss. If the event recurred multiple times in the zone while that zone was live that would go a long way to fix it, but as it is now, show up in the first 5 minutes or just wait til the next one. Why do all of these events seem to start from the same mistakes in the past instead of building upon what was learned.

It really feels like they just slapped this event together.

1) All the mobs are ghost reskins of old assets. Nothing new or exciting. Just the same old but blue.

2) There is absolutely nothing original about the format, what little format there is.

3) It's obvious there was no thought put into required system resources as there's massive lag.

4) They've had to do several patch passes just to get the event to work.

5) The wait times are ridiculous. 90 minutes per event? I'm an adult with responsibilities in the really real world. I don't have time to just sit around for four and a half hours PER TOON! This should have been on a 10 min cycle from the start and should be active in all three zones instead of just one so you can run and do the one you need to. You can only complete it three times a week per toon anyways, so I see absolutely no reason for these extended wait times.

6) The whole mob farming is a bad joke. The mobs are scattered all over the place usually in the middle of non-event mobs. No designated event zones like in previous pre-expansion events. And you either have a quick tag skill that you run around and spam or you just don't get rememberance as mobs in even a moderately populated area usually die before a spell cast can go off. And the 1 rememberance per mob and 5 per elite when pretty much all the items cost in the thousands is just insulting. Like they seem to think we won't notice what a pointless grind it is. At least have a chance for the mobs to drop some gear or something.

Instead of getting us hyped for their new expansion they seem to be going out of their way to remind us of everything we dislike about the game and then rubbing our collective noses in it. Whoever greenlit this mess obviously has no idea what they are doing.

All in all I'm left questioning the state of the expansion. If they have had to butcher the pre-expansion event this badly what are the odds they haven't had to cut serious corners in the expansion as well?

Edit: They have addressed some major issues with the event. Bosses are no longer one and a half hour spawns. Go the active zone and fill the bar by completing actual events and boss shows up. Need the boss again? As long as the zone is still active you can keep doing the events and it will spawn the boss again. Remembrance acquisition rate has been dramatically increased. All in all it's actually starting to look like the type of pre-patch event we all know and love.

So far this event is terrible. The expansion is less than a month away so lets gear some alts and have some fun, that is usually how pre-patch events work, not this one. First off, the gear from the vendor is expensive, the mobs drop only 1-5 single currency, the gear is 3-5K currency. I must of sat at 5 sepearate boss spawn locations, only 1 boss actually spawned. The bosses spawn timers are to long. Break up the trash mobs with some elites peppered in for some challenge, maybe have them drop some rando gear to break up the grind or something.... I hope they fix this event.

It's now every hour and with a percentage bar so you have to do the same memory several times as of 6pm cst 8/1.

However, Dragonblight did go to completion and that is rare for my first 7 tries there.

They may have changed it so the event runs more than once in a given zone. I just jumped into Dragonblight, and at first it had the "go hunt remaining memories" message, then all of a sudden the event bubbles appeared, and it ran all the way through to Lich King memory.

Event is changed.. its now repeatable multiple times during the hour that its active, boss currency drop is now way higher, and the weekly quests are now daily's... seems like they noticed we werent happy lol

The three zone quests just disappeared from the QuestLog on characters who haven't done them yet. When I Query IsQuestFlaggedCompleted it returns true for all three (this char has done none). The quest Memories of Adventures Past is still not completed.

What seems to be working for me is just to be ready to go at the top of the hour. I've been playing since 2007 and have seen all but the event prior to Burning Crusade, which I might have been able to experience had I been playing the Classic game. Each of the pre-patch events have had their share of detractors and proponents, but I have enjoyed the events nonetheless. I am disappointed about the account wide daily lockout, because I have more than thirty alts, and it would have been nice to have a little more flexibility to gear them. I'm still playing REMIX and then there are the other in game events and priorities, such as Trial of Style, and Darkmoon Faire, as well as anyone trying to get any of the Dragonflight goodies in a last minute rush. Also, most classes have had their talents and abilities altered for the expansion, as well as the macro system having been expanded, so I've needed to update each of my characters and rewrite macros. As mentioned by others, there are also real world responsibilities (gasp!), so the account wide daily lockout on the Radiant Echoes event does seem rather inconsiderate. However, it is just a game ... a good one which we have been able to enjoy for many years, and I'm looking forward to many more.

IMO, having five events up at the same time is just bad design. They should have done one, or maybe two, that are CLOSE to each other, as there are too many people that refuse to follow the group and do them together.

As a returning player that hasn't played seriously since WoD (and not at all since Legion), I wasn't going to get involved - but after seeing there were 3 battle pets on offer, I decided to try levelling some of my alts with the event. Here's my thoughts/insights/whatever:

* First and foremost, this is probably the best levelling right now. Very quick and easy bursts of exp, on top of the currency which is transferrable across your account (so you can level your alts and buy gear on your main, for example).
* Generally, the first loop of a region (the first events into a boss when the zone is selected at the top of an hour) is when the most people are doing it, and is therefore the best. It means the smaller memories/events get cleared quicker, and that's what nets you good exp and currency.
* The bosses are by far the best effort/currency rate. If you don't want to actively chase memories you could just AFK until the boss is ready then tab back in and do that.
* On that note, when it comes to events definitely pick your poison. You'll start to see which ones are good and which ones aren't. Typically, any that has you fight a boss, particularly an easy boss, is good. Some bosses you might want to hang back for until they're low on health, due to obnoxious abilities like Hakkar or Jaraxxus. Just dive in when they're <20% and tag them - I don't know if that's necessary, but better safe than sorry.
* In terms of the zones, Searing Gorge is the best IMO, with 3 easy boss events and a fourth (the Gnomeragan one) that's boss-like and overall pretty easy, plus it's all very close together. Dustwallow Marsh isn't too bad; a couple bosses and a couple other events that aren't bad, but it's not as good as SG. Dragonblight is easily the worst, with very few 'good' events and being the largest zone of the three. If you're not going for every event at the top of every hour, I'd suggest skipping Dragonblights, or at most just loitering until you find events you're happy with (or just doing The Lich King).
* If you're a pet battler like me, note that the pet rewards can't be caged. So while you unfortunately can't buy extras to make bank after the event ends, it does mean you'd want to get at least one copy of each (if not 3) while you can, just in case they prove useful.
* If you multi box, this is a pretty good event for it. I have an alt follow the main account around, just making sure to tag any bosses from events just to play it safe (I don't think it's necessary based on minor testing), and it basically doubles your currency gain as well as giving both characters great exp.

I'll edit the post if I think of anything else, but yeah, if you're an altoholic and a completionist this is a great way to cover both bases; level the alts and get currency at the same time.

I'm leveling alts for TWW professions and while I'm doing the events, I see barely any players around. I'm almost certain level 70s and pre-level 70s are split in to different instances for some reason. Is there any legitimate reason not to lump everyone in to the same instance? Is level scaling not active during the events?

Come on folks! I leveled a 26 pally to 70 in two days, doing just radiant echos. Received 60,000 mem's and a couple of nice drops. Was able to 480 all gear items. Smile)

I decided to keep track of leveling a toon from level 20 to level 70, strictly using the Radiant Echo events and the coinciding daily quests to show the event is a fantastic way to level a toon.

NOTE: I used a level 20 toon instead of a level 10 toon to put together this info because I absolutely hate dragon riding and there is no way to participate in the event without being able to fly and regular flying starts at level 20.

Here are my results:

Radiant Echo events I required to level a toon from 20 to 70: 16

Note: Of the 16 runs to get from level 20 to 70, I only had a daily quest for six of the runs and didn’t get the extra XP or Residual Memories from the quests on 10 of the runs.

Runs are indicated by the number in the lists that follow.

1. Start: Halfway through level 20, End: Halfway through level 23 – 3 levels gained
2. Start: Halfway through level 23, End: Level 26 – 2.5 levels gained
3. Start: Level 26, End: Level 27 – 1 level gained
4. Start: Level 27, End: 2/3 through Level 30 – 2.66 levels gained
5. Start: 2/3 through Level 30, End: Just under level 32 – 1.33 levels gained
6. Start: just under level 32, End: Level 35 – 3 levels gained

Gold from events: Negligible. I gained just over 100 gold from the 16 runs. My repairs were paid for from what I looted so the 100 gold was what was left after repairs and also included selling gear that I couldn’t use.

Total Residual Memories looted/earned from start to finish of levelling from 20 to 70 from all possible sources: 66,101 – More than enough to purchase all pets, the mount and any catchup gear you need

NOTES: I only ran the main Radiant Echo event each time and after the final boss was defeated, I left (except where mentioned otherwise). The Radiant Echo event was on a one hour timer, so I would run the event and leave afterwards and come back at the top of the hour for the next zone the event was in. I started late on a Wednesday afternoon and finished during my last run on the following Friday morning at 6:22 am

I wasn’t aware the lingering events repeated the entire main event, including the end boss spawning, so if someone wanted to dedicate 3.5 hours straight to leveling a toon from 20 to 70, they could stick around after the main Radiant Echo event and do the lingering echo events until the top of the hour and then switch to the next zone and rinse and repeat for 3.5 hours straight, playing constantly, until they levelled from level 20 to 70. You don’t need to space out your runs over a day and a half like I did or skip most of the lingering echoes.

Also of note, where I only gained one or two levels, I was eating or doing something else that took my full attention away from the game, so if someone was able to fully participate and not have their attention divided between RL and the game, they most likely will level from 20 to 70 in less runs than I did. When I was able to fully participate, I would average 3 or 4 levels per event.

TIPS
1. Players will branch off into more than one group. Keep up with the largest group as they will defeat the echoes the quickest. XP is awarded per echo defeated so the more you defeat, the more XP you will get.

2. If you lose sight of the group, look at your map. 100% of the time if a singular boss is up, the group will go to that boss and that’s where you’ll find them.

3. Don’t forget to pick up the daily quest and, also, don’t forget to turn it in for extra XP and Residual Memories.

4. Don’t be a carry-stealer. I have seen many players just sitting there on their mount, waiting for the event to be defeated, and don’t contribute at all to defeating it. For some reason Blizz has made it so you only have to be in the area of the echo to get the XP awarded for defeating it. I have seen players, such as a Level 65 Prot Warrior, sitting there and not contributing and there’s absolutely no reason for this when you’re a tank at almost max level. If you let someone else play your game for you, why are you even bothering?

5. On the flipside of Point #4: Appreciate the pre-patch event for the ‘MM' in MMORPG it is. Enjoy the time you have with your fellow players while waiting for the events to start – some people are very interesting and worthwhile engaging with!

TL:DR: 16 runs to level from 20 to 70, 3.5 hours taken to do the 16 runs, several pieces of gear looted that were either upgrades or new xmog added to my journal, and 66,101 Residual Memories looted during the 16 runs.

Hey fellow Champions! If you still have toons/alts that need leveling up, this event runs until the official launch of TWW, August 26th. I'm pretty sure Blizz has increased the amount of XP you earn because I just went from Level 51 to 70 in one hour even. This was purely from defeating echoes (regular and lingering) and I didn't get any XP from the daily quests because I didn't pick up the quests.

If you still have residual memories to spend after the event, you can still spend it at the vendor in dalaran, but watch out ! All gear now binds when equiped and is no longer warband tradeable , bags still binds to warband though
