Antorus, the Burning Throne -- Recommended Builds and Tips for Beast Mastery Hunters
These builds were compiled by using common sense and looking at the most successful talents (in terms of parsing) used on these fights so far. This is focused around the
Stomp
build, so if you are playing the Dire Frenzy build you just generally swap out necessary talents. Both builds are viable but currently the
Stomp
build tends to be the most popular. You're going to be sticking with a single set of talents for the majority of the raid, but I will list a few extra options on some fights.
Garothi Worldbreaker
Tips and Tricks
DPS the boss. It's the first boss, what do you expect?
Use
Disengage
+
Posthaste
to soak the Annihilations quickly.
Delay your
to use on the cannons when possible, because once the cannon dies the cooldown will reset and you can immediately use it again on the boss.
Recommended Build:
Felhounds of Sargeras
Tips and Tricks
As Beast Mastery, you'll only be able to hit one of the felhounds, so stick with single target talents and rotation.
This is a standard patchwerk boss with lots of movement, which isn't a problem for Beast Mastery. Just be proactive with moving at the right times to minimize your damage intake.
On Mythic difficulty, you will still take damage when Disengaging over the fire pools, but you should only take a single tick if you find yourself in a jam.
Recommended Build:
Antoran High Command
Tips and Tricks
This is a cleave fight, but since the adds move around so much, you should generally focus on a single target rotation. It's still worthwhile activating
Beast Cleave
right as a group of adds spawn because they'll stay there for a few seconds.
If 2 or more adds are away from the boss but close to each other, send your
Dire Beast
s to them so that
Stomp
can deal more damage.
A Murder of Crows
is nice on this fight if you take advantage of the cooldown reset on adds, but
Volley
is the simpler choice.
On Mythic difficulty, the stun effect from
Shock Grenade
can be negated by
Aspect of the Turtle
.
Recommended Build:
Portal Keeper Hasabel
Tips and Tricks
There are several issues with pets inside the portals. Sometimes you may need to dismiss and resummon, and your
Dire Beast
s will sometimes
Stomp
before they reach their target. Whenever possible, try to get yourself assigned to downstairs duty on this fight.
When downstairs, save your interrupt for Imps that are almost getting their cast off (most will die before they do), or for Imps that get left behind inside the purple circle and would then be out of melee range to interrupt.
When downstairs, it's usually better to single target down the imps unless they are clumped up. It's easy to waste Focus activating
Beast Cleave
when its damage can be so ineffectual in burst situations such as this.
Recommended Build:
Eonar the Lifebinder
Tips and Tricks
Feel free to experiment with different talents on this build, such as
Stampede
. It's one of the few places where these talents can have some use.
On the other hand, if your raid is full of AoE specs or people who love to pad the meters in general, you might be better off focusing on the important mobs in single target.
Don't bother DPSing the bats as BM because your pet can't hit them the majority of the time. Focus your efforts elsewhere.
Recommended Build:
Imonar the Soul Hunter
Tips and Tricks
Aspect of the Turtle
is very handy for surviving the bridge transitions in an emergency.
One of the few places where
Trailblazer
can get some use. Since you're not attacking on the bridge, this allows you to move faster when crossing it.
Don't bother wasting Focus or cooldowns once you reach the other side until the boss is interrupted and takes full damage again.
Recommended Build:
Kin'garoth
Tips and Tricks
Delay your
Bestial Wrath
and other cooldowns (not counting the opener) for the add spawns, since you deal significantly more damage to them when they first spawn. Get yourself into position (and pull your pet back) right before the add spawns so you can switch immediately.
On-use trinkets such as
Terminus Signaling Beacon
or
Tarnished Sentinel Medallion
can be very useful on this fight since the adds take increased damage from them.
Recommended Build:
Varimathras
Tips and Tricks
This is a pretty simple fight. Move with the group and DPS. On Mythic difficulty swap to the adds ASAP since your instant damage is very helpful to get them down in time.
When you have to get out of the group for
Necrotic Embrace
, make sure you're topped off before Disengaging out of range. You can use
Aspect of the Turtle
to reduce the incoming damage while away from the group, but it won't make you immune.
Recommended Build:
The Coven of Shivarra
Tips and Tricks
The targets are usually too far apart to hit more than one with anything meaningful, so stick with a single target build and rotation.
Delay your
Bestial Wrath
if the Aman'thul adds are close to spawning (these are the ones that heal to full health).
Taking the
Wyvern Sting
talent allows you to lock down another one of the adds that needs to be crow controlled. It's good to keep either this or
Freezing Trap
in reserve for an emergency (depending what other CCs your raid has).
If you find yourself in a bad position during
Storm of Darkness
(in front of the fire boss, or in a crowded safe zone during lightning adds for example), don't be afraid to pop
Aspect of the Turtle
and move to a less crowded place. You'll be completely immune from all the damage.
Another good place to use
Aspect of the Turtle
is when you have
Fulminating Pulse
and you're at low health when it's about to expire.
When tanks are swapping bosses and they cross paths the bosses will turn purple, which means they take 99% less damage. Avoid casting important abilities like
Kill Command
until the boss is no longer purple and will take full damage again. Over the course of a fight, you can lose a lot of damage by wasting casts on immune bosses.
Recommended Build:
Aggramar
Tips and Tricks
On Heroic difficulty, if your group is individually CCing the small adds, you can lock down two of them yourself with
Wyvern Sting
and
Freezing Trap
if your raid is short on CC. It's also nice to have one in your back pocket if something goes wrong.
Use
Aspect of the Turtle
and
Exhilaration
when needed during the intermission phases as this is a likely time to die. If it meshes well with your gear setup, it's also nice to have
Prydaz, Xavaric's Magnum Opus
on this fight.
Recommended Build:
Argus the Unmaker
Tips and Tricks
During phase 1, both the crit/mastery and haste/vers buffs are relatively equal in DPS value, it's just important that you always choose the same one for stacking purposes.
During the add phase, start DPSing the Physical vulnerable add first. This add starts out in the north of the room. The secondary priority for BM is the Nature vulnerable add since we do have some Nature damage in our repertoire.
Make sure to use your second DPS potion before the add phase is finished, since you'll get another potion after resurrecting in the final phase.
During the last phase, it's a good time to use
Aspect of the Turtle
if you get Soulbomb or Soulburst (especially Soulbomb) to avoid dying and having to resurrect at the tree.
During the last phase when Reorigination Modules spawn, you can use your pet's
Kill Command
to jump to the closest one, then use
Kill Command
again to jump to the next one when needed. This is more efficient than having your pet run clear across the room doing nothing.
Recommended Build:

Goroth
Fight Basics:
Hide behind
Infernal Spike
to avoid being hit by
Infernal Burning
.
Avoid destroying
Infernal Spike
when targeted with
Crashing Comet
.
Aim
Shattering Star
to collide with multiple
Infernal Spike
to decrease damage taken.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
DPS the boss. It's the first boss, what do you expect?
Use
Disengage
+
Posthaste
to get behind or away from pillars quickly.
Recommended Build:
Beast Mastery Gear Drops:
Wrists -
Pain-Singed Armguards
Waist -
Belt of Screaming Slag
Back -
Cloak of Stifling Brimstone
Arcane -
Charred Hymnal of the Moon
Storm -
Felsoul Vortex
Demonic Inquisition
Fight Basics:
Confess
when at full
Torment
to collect Remnants of Hope from Belac's cage and alleviate
Unbearable Torment
.
Avoid attacking Atrigan and Belac during
Bone Saw
and
Fel Squall
respectively, so you don't get additional
Torment
.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
It's worthwhile keeping
Beast Cleave
up when the bosses are close together (don't spam Multi-Shot, this is still a single target fight) but don't do this during
Bone Saw
and
Fel Squall
or else you'll generate extra
Torment
.
Disengage
out of the purple puddles instead of running out, so you generate less
Torment
.
Recommended Build:
Beast Mastery Gear:
Helm Token -
Wildstalker Helmet
Legs -
Flesh-Raking Leggings
Shoulders -
Pauldrons of the Gibbering Eye
Neck -
String of Extracted Incisors
Trinket -
Cradle of Anguish
Arcane -
Inexorable Truth Serum
Harjatan
Fight Basics:
When the boss casts
Draw In
, make sure to move to avoid being hit by moving pools of
Drenching Waters
.
Move out of the impact point of
Drenching Slough
to avoid taking unnecessary damage or stacks of
Drenched
.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
Feign Death
can remove the fixate from the adds in an emergency, but this will cause the add to fixate someone else.
When the adds spawn, you generally want to switch to them before cleaving. If you cleave off the boss,
Beast Cleave
won't always hit all the nearby adds because your pet can be standing too far away due to the large hit box on the boss.
Recommended Build:
Generally, the adds don't live long enough to warrant going for an AoE focused build here, but
Volley
is a perfectly fine option for this fight.
Beast Mastery Gear:
Gloves Token -
Wildstalker Gauntlets
Chest -
Hauberk of Frozen Mist
Feet -
Insulated Finpads
Ring -
Scaled Band of Servitude
Iron -
Calcified Barnacle
Mistress Sassz'ine
Fight Basics:
Slay Abyss Stalkers at the correct time to ensure that
Concealing Murk
is available for
Slicing Tornado
.
Stand behind
Concealing Murk
to prevent being struck by
Slicing Tornado
.
Bring
Befouling Ink
to the whale.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
When using
Befouling Ink
, step in,
Disengage
to the outer circle to feed the whale, then use
Posthaste
to get back out quickly.
Disengage
reportedly lets you skip through the tornadoes, but I haven't tested this personally. You can try it in an emergency.
Use
Aspect of the Turtle
before soaking
Hydra Shot
if either your health is low or it looks like not enough people are soaking your particular beam which would result in your death.
Recommended Build:
The only real fight where you want to go all-in with AoE damage as there's hardly any pure single target here. Aspect of the Beast is recommended because of how often you'll be casting Multi-Shot. However, Killer Cobra is still a viable alternative (especially if your raid is killing the adds very fast).
Hunter Gear:
Legs Token -
Wildstalker Leggings
Helm -
Azure Squallshaper's Helm
Back -
Shroud of the Drowned Adherent
Trinket -
Terror From Below
Storm -
Flawless Hurricane Pearl
Sisters of the Moon
Fight Basics:
If targeted by
Rapid Shot
move to the light side of the moon to clear stacks of
Umbra Suffusion
.
If affected by
Moon Burn
move to the other side of the moon to trigger
Astral Purge
.
Defeat the Moontalon before
Deathly Screech
becomes lethal.
If
Umbra Suffusion
or
Lunar Suffusion
stacks get too high, move to the other side of the moon to clear them.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
When possible, use
on Moontalon adds shortly before they die (depends on your raid, but around 20-30% HP is usually safe) so you can get cooldown resets on it.
Aspect of the Turtle
can be used to solo soak
Incorporeal Shot
, but be very careful that no one else is standing in the beam before you do this or else they'll be killed. This will save a lot of healing.
Recommended Build:
Beast Mastery Gear:
Shoulder -
Mantle of Waning Radiance
Waist -
Waistguard of Interminable Unity
Ring -
Yathae's Thumb Ring
Trinket -
Tarnished Sentinel Medallion
Arcane -
Mote of Astral Suffusion
Iron -
Chiseled Starlight
The Desolate Host
Fight Basics:
If afflicted with
Soulbind
, quickly move to another similarly afflicted player in the opposing realm.
Manage the final explosion from
Shattering Scream
to ensure it removes applications of
Bonecage Armor
.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
In the corporeal realm, you can
Disengage
to quickly get over the purple lines of silence and drop your own purple line of silence far out of the way.
Recommended Build:
If you're in the spirit realm where there's a greater quantity of adds to kill, you can also use
Volley
if you prefer.
Beast Mastery Gear:
Cloak Token -
Wildstalker Cape
Hands -
Gauntlets of Spiteful Haunting
Neck -
Locket of Splintered Souls
Trinket -
Spectral Thurible
Storm -
Preserved Starlight Incense
Maiden of Vigilance
Fight Basics:
Dive into the pit when
Unstable Soul
is about to expire: On normal, about 2-3 seconds before. On heroic, about 1.5 seconds before.
Collect stacks of either
Creator's Grace
or
Demon's Vigor
by touching Fragments that match your Infusion during Watcher's Wrath.
Quickly break
Titanic Bulwark
and interrupt
Wrath of the Creators
.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
It can be tempting to use
Aspect of the Cheetah
or
Posthaste
to run through the orbs ahead of everyone else. Don't do this. You'll be kicked out of the hunter club and forced to go play a support class.
If you're low on health or there is a lack of people on your side to soak the hammer, you can use
Aspect of the Turtle
to reduce the damage.
If the boss is about to switch sides within the next 15 seconds, and
Bestial Wrath
is available, hold onto it until you get to the other side with the orb buffs. Same goes for any other potential burst like on-use trinkets.
You can start casting
Kill Command
long before you get across to the other side as your pet will get in range much faster than you.
Recommended Build:
Beast Mastery Gear:
Chest Token -
Wildstalker Chestguard
Head -
Crown of Discarded Hope
Wrist -
Chaos-Calming Wristguards
Ring -
Band of Rescinded Truths
Trinket -
Engine of Eradication
Storm -
Unfurling Origination
Fallen Avatar
Fight Basics:
Help soak the effects of
Dark Mark
.
Avoid
Unbound Chaos
and the targets of
Shadowy Blades
.
Move away from the Fallen Avatar while he casts
Rupture Realities
.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
You can solo soak
Touch of Sargeras
by using
Aspect of the Turtle
.
In phase 2, have
Disengage
ready to cut short getting knocked back after helping soak
Dark Mark
, so you can get back to DPSing, rather than flying through the air. You can also use
Disengage
to change direction mid air if the knock-back was sending you into the lava.
In phase 2, you can use
Aspect of the Turtle
to solo soak
Dark Mark
. This saves a ton of healing in a very healing-intensive phase.
You can use
Disengage
to jump into or out of the green lava to avoid the purple tornadoes. You can even sit in the lava and cast for a couple seconds, if really desperate.
Recommended Build:
Beast Mastery Gear:
Shoulder Token -
Wildstalker Spaulders
Legs -
Legguards of Siphoned Power
Back -
Cape of Mindless Fury
Iron -
Reactive Pylon Casing
Kil'jaeden
Fight Basics:
Soak one of the swirls during
Armageddon
.
Stand near
Rupturing Singularity
with your back facing one of the corners of the platform to avoid being knocked off.
Stand under the boss if you get
Shadow Reflection: Erupting
until the add spawns.
Stand next to
Tear Rift
portals to gain their
Gravity Squeeze
debuff when
Darkness of a Thousand Souls
is cast.
Beast Mastery Tips and Tricks
Track Humanoids
will point out where Illidan is on your mini-map during the darkness phase. Once you've located him, you can begin pinging the mini-map for your raid.
If you mess up your positioning before a knockback, you can use
Disengage
mid-air to launch you back onto the platform.
Aspect of the Turtle
can be used to soak
Armageddon Hail
(the large swirls).
Recommended Build:
Beast Mastery Gear Drops:
Feet -
Star-Stalker Treads
Hands -
Vicegrip of the Unrepentant
Ring -
Seal of the Second Duumvirate
Trinket -
Tome of Unraveling Sanity
Arcane -
Torn Fabric of Reality
