Glory of the Raider (10 & 25 man) – the Complete Achiever’s Guide

Anub’Rekhan boosts no extra achievements, however, once you down him, you have 20 minutes to down Maexxna for Arachnophobia (10 player). This should be easy with the group outlined above.

Grand Widow Faerlina has the achievement: Momma Said Knock You Out (10 player). The key to this is simple: just don’t dispel or tranq Faerlina at any time. Straight single-target DPS and you’ll be good (leave her adds alone as they'll give her a buff if they die causing you to fail this achieve). At 85, you’ll burn her fast enough where she may never enter her frenzy stage either – which has netted the achievement as well.

Maexxna is the final boss and has no associated achievements. After you kill her, a portal will appear in the room to port you back outside the quarter.

Noth the PlaguebringerHeigan the UncleanLoathebThe Plague Quarter (10 player)

Noth the Plaguebringer is a straight forward fight with no required or bonus achievements.

Heigan the Unclean used to be a challenge with the infamous Safety Dance, but at 85 is a breeze. A simple tank/spank and heal through the minimal damage and you’ll easily get: The Safety Dance (10 player). Seriously – don’t worry about the floor damage, just DPS him down.

Loatheb has a bonus achievement: Spore Loser (10 player). Key to this is simple: don’t kill any of the spores that spawn. The strategy is to do single-target DPS on Loatheb and never use AOE damage. Just ignore the spores and you’ll be fine. If you’re in a PUG, which you probably are, this can be a tough concept for some to get. Not everyone listens. Good thing is it’s not required for the Glory achievement (just means you’d have to come back and get it later).

Instructor RazuviousGothik the HarvesterFour Horsemen ChestThe Military Quarter (10 player)

Instructor Razuvious starts with a tank using an orb to control an add. DPS should just focus on the adds and Razuvious. It’s an easy fight and will end quickly. Sorry, no achievements for this one.

Gothik the Harvester, sadly, also offers no achievements. Key to this fight is to all be on the same side of the gate when the fight starts. If someone gets separated, just have them stay close to the gate and do AOE around the gate when the waves of mobs come. Overall still an easy fight – just takes times with waves of adds.

The Four Horsemen has the only achievement in this quarter: And They Would All Go Down Together (10 player). This requires you to kill all 4 bosses within 15 seconds of the first one’s death. The key to this is to distribute your DPS and watch the health of all the bosses. Divide up the group before engaging because all four bosses with go to separate corners of the room and they won’t move until their health is very low. A health meter will appear on your screen so you can easily monitor all 4 bosses health. Try to keep them all about the same until about 15%, then open fire and nuke.

PatchwerkGrobbulusGluthThaddiusThe Construct Quarter (10 player)

Patchwerk has a speed kill achievement: Make Quick Werk of Him (10 player). All you need to do is down him in 3 minutes – which should be cake with your group.

Grobbulus is a simple tank/spank with no additional achievements. Just run up the ramp and kill him – no need to wait for him to stroll down.

Gluth is also a simple tank/spank with a very minor mechanic. He spawns adds that will try to get to him – if the adds get to him, they regen his health a tad. Basically set a DPS or OT on adds and you’ll be good. Oh – no achievements with this guy either.

Thaddius bring probably the hardest achievement in this raid and in the whole Glory of the Raider set: Shocking! (10 player). The fight is a 2 phase fight. Phase 1: All go to the left or right platform. Aggro the first mini-boss, but don't kill him; the other mini-boss will head to your platform. Once both bosses are on the platform - nuke them together. They need to die together, else they respawn. Once that's done, all go into position for phase 2, Thaddius. Phase 2 is best done using the technique illustrated in the image below. You should pre-determine who will stand where. Fill the bold spots first with ranged, then spread out left over people. No one should be close to anyone else - this is key. If you have more people than the image shows, spread them out on the mini-boss ramps and by the entrance. You should pop TW/Lust/etc at the start of Thaddius to ensure you don't hit the enrage. A tank/healer/DPS can take out Thadd in 10m. You'll need about 3 ranged DPS at least for 25m at level 85.If you need to wipe, just have everyone jump in the poison pool. Oh, and just downing him will net you Subtraction (10 player).

SapphironKel'Thuzad

Sapphiron is a frost dragon with a 2 phase fight that cycles: a ground phase and an air phase. The first achievement is pretty much done before you engage: The Hundred Club (10 player). Before you get started, everyone needs to make sure they don’t have a frost resistance over 99. Basically, no Mark of the Wild and no frost DKs. Have everyone triple check this – cause there’s no going back. Fight is simple: ground phase is a simple tank/spank. Watch the snow as it’ll damage you. Once Sapp lifts off, phase 2 starts. Key to this phase is to stack up. She’ll freeze a few people into ice blocks and everyone else needs to get behind the block. If you don’t get behind it, you’ll die. Ice will then melt and back to phase 1. Once she dies, you’ll get a bonus achievement: Sapphiron's Demise (10 player).

Kel’Thuzad / KT is a pretty simple fight as well. For all intends and purposes, it’s a 2 phase fight. Stay outside the room until everyone’s ready. Once ready, run in and stay on the green circle in the middle of the room. Phase 1 now starts. During phase 1 you’re killing adds. As they approach the green circle, kill them, very easy. For Just Can't Get Enough (10 player), have 1 person run into the add spawn areas 6 times. Do them 1 at a time, as you don’t want to over-aggro the room. Once that person has hit 6 rooms (each room as 3 abominations), you’re good. Just wait out the timer and prepare for phase 2. In Phase 2 KT becomes active. Have the tank pick up KT and have DPS finish off any remaining adds. You should stay about 10yds away from other players during the fight as he’ll damage people who are close – yes, this is harder for melee, just heal through it. KT is a simple tank/spank with a bit of raid awareness. KT will occasionally throw down a purple pool called a Shadow Fissure. Players need to get out of it ASAP. If you are in it when it becomes active (~3seconds after it appears), that player will die. Near the end of the fight KT puts out a few adds which an OT can pick up. DPS should still focus on KT as you’re pretty much done. With all that, you’ll get Kel'Thuzad's Defeat (10 player) and a ton of other achievements for finishing Naxx.

Eye of Eternity / MalygosMalygos

Phase 1 is a ground phase. As with all dragons, avoid the head and tail. 1 tank is really all that’s needed (you could sub out your OT for a DPS – wouldn’t hurt you either way). You’re going to tank/spank Maly down to about 45% when he’ll begin to lift off. As he’s lifting off, continue to nuke him – as much DPS as possible until you can’t hit him anymore.

Phase 2 is an adds phase. First, bubbles will appear on the ground and slowly shrink. You always want to be inside a bubble, else you’ll take damage. This will require you to move from bubble to bubble as new ones appear. While this is happening, you want to nuke the adds. A few adds will come on discs to you. Once then die, melee (or people needing the achievement Denyin’ the Scion, discussed below), should hop on a disc and start killing the adds still flying around. Ranged should always focus on the distant adds. Healers in this phase can probably throw a bit of DPS on the adds as well.

Phase 3 starts when all the adds are dead, this is also the drake phase. The tank in this phase will be considered DPS. For this phase, everyone will fly up on a drake to Maly and begin to nuke him. Here’s the key to victory, the rotation. DPS should use the rotation: 1-1-2-3. Patience is key as that rotation will require a bit of time in-between keys to keep the rotation, but keeping the rotation is more important than spamming 1. Healers will focus targets and use 3-3-3-4. If you follow this rotation, you’ll be good. Oh, and Maly has a chance to drop a Reins of the Azure Drake – so enjoy that perk.

Achievements

You Don't Have an Eternity (10 player). This is a speed kill achievement, under 6 minutes. This will be easy if people listen in phase 3 and follow the rotation. Chances are if you don’t get this – it’s because you took too long in phase 3.

Denyin' the Scion (10 player). This achievement is done during phase 2. In 10m, there will be 2 discs that will be available (25m is 3 discs). As you’re limited in number of discs, getting your whole group to do this will require a few runs. Once you get a disc, fly up to a floating add and get a killing blow. Part of this is timing in hoping your group doesn’t off the add before you do. I always recommend to call who’s getting discs before the fight starts so people know who will get to go up. The achievement pops right after you get the killing blow, allowing you wipe on ph3 and allow more people to get the achievement in a single run.

The Spellweaver's Downfall (10 player). Kill Malygos – simple as that.

A Poke in the Eye (10 player). This is the achievement for going in under the max number of players. In 10m mode you’ll go in with 8, in 25m mode you’ll go in with 20. If you’ve been following along, you’ll get this just for paying attention.

The Obsidian Sanctum / OS

When you zone-in to OS, you’ll want to head around the outside and clear the trash. As you circle around (and trash is cake here with our group listed above), be sure not to aggro any of the mini-bosses (Tenebron, Shadron, and Vesperon). If you do aggro any of them, either wipe it or run out of the instance.

After clearing all the trash, Sartharion will be waiting for you in the center area. The fight is a straight-forward tank/spank. (A quick note, because we left the 3 mini-bosses alive, this is often referred to as: OS 3d – which means: Obsidian Sanctum 3 drakes alive.) With a group of 85s, you shouldn’t encounter any of the drakes joining the fight (as they used to). You’ll easily nuke Sartharion down before that happens.

During the fight, if it happens (depends on your groups DPS), you’ll want to avoid the fire walls. Walls come from the east/west and are best seen with your camera zoomed it. Just find the void in the walls and you’ll be good. A group with solid DPS won’t see any fire walls.

Doing OS 3d will guarantee a drop of a mount, the Reins of the Black Drake for 10m and the Reins of the Twilight Drake for 25m. Because it’s a 100% drop, it’s often easy to PUG this raid.

Gonna Go When the Volcano Blows (10 player). This requires you not to get hit by a lava strike. Best thing to do is to stand away from other players. When Saratharion yells, look up and a lava strike will slowly come in. You just need to avoid it. Other advice is to just keep moving around the island. NOTE: These continue to fall even after Saratharion dies, so pay attention until you're off Saratharion's island. If you don't feel like paying attention, you'll probably get this automatically after a few runs.

The Twilight Zone (10 player). This requires you to do OS 3d – all 3 drakes alive. If you are following alone, this will be automatic.

Besting the Black Dragonflight (10 player). Simply killing Sartharion.

Less Is More (10 player), Kill Sartharion with less than 9 players in 10m mode or less than 21 players in 25m mode.

Just a note, undying and immortal titles were removed from the game when cataclysm was released, you can no longer obtain them.

Gonna Go When the Volcano Blows (10 player). This requires you not to get hit by a lava wall. Two ways of doing this are to DPS the boss before it happens (which is easy with a geared group at 85), second way is raid awareness as not get hit by the walls, as noted above.

this description is incorrect. the lava strike ability has nothing to do with the wave at all.... it's a meteor that drops out of the sky. supposedly you can see it a few seconds before it drops, but some people say the way to get the achievement is to just try and keep moving continuously.

Less Is More (10 player), Kill Sartharion with less than 9 players in 10m mode or less than 21 players in 25m mode.

This achievement and it's 25 man equivalent requires your group to kill ALL 3 mini bosses AND Sartharion with less than 9 people. Therefore, it will require an ADDITIONAL reset if the group does Sarth+1/2/3.

This isn't applicable if the group is trying for "Less is More" as I stated above.

Just thought I'd point out that it'll take 2 resets to get all the achievements in OS (Provided you get "Gonna Go Where the Volcano Blows" in one of them)

There are two other achievements in OS, for the record: Twilight Assist (10 player) (OS 1d) and Twilight Duo (10 player) (OS 2d). Currently it’s noted that these 2 achievements need to be attained separately – that is, doing OS 3d will not automatically trigger the 1d or 2d achievements. It’s highly unlikely you could successfully PUG 1d or 2d; however, you can probably 3m it, so best find a few friends to go do it with you.

Note for the Malygos portion of the guide. The Scions will drop their discs when they die which lets more people get on them. There is still a limited amount of scions, but you can get more than 2 people the achievement per run.
Edit: Also, I am pretty sure that you can just wipe and restart to get the achievement as the achievement is earned after you kill a scion, not after killing Malygos.

For Shocking! (10 player), an easier tactic is to have two ranged dps and the tank spread out across Thaddius's platform and leave a ranged dps on one miniboss platform, and a healer on the other. All other players should spread out across the platform by the entrance to the boss room and wait. No one should move during the fight (ie fight from where they stand). If anyone dies during the fight, the ranged dps and healers will shift forward if the death is on their side, and another ranged dps can run forward to take a place on the (now empty) miniboss platform. If the healer is the one who dies, obviously it should be a healer who replaces their spot, so make sure a ranged dps is near both ramps, and a healer is near the ramp to the other healer. Melee dps should spread out by the door, but can also take up spots in the middle of the room on low platforms if necessary.
This tactic can be done with the 25-man version as well, but it's important that the top dps are used, since you will run into the enrage timer for the last few seconds of the fight.

So this would look like:
boss platform: RDPS-1 ------TANK (& Thaddius) ----- RDPS-2
miniboss platform: RDPS-3 ----------------------------- Healer
entrance: (Extra RDPS) all -- other -- players -- spread -- out (Extra Heals & RDPS)

and if a death occurs (RPS-1):
boss platform: ~~RDPS-1~~ RDPS-3 -----TANK (& Thaddius) ----- RDPS-2
miniboss platform: RDPS-4 ----------------------------- Healer
entrance: remaining -- players -- spread -- out (Extra Heals & RDPS)

(note that RDPS-3 moved from the miniboss platform to take RDPS-1's spot, and someone by the entrance near the left ramp moved up to take RPS-3's spot on the miniboss platform)

I was able to solo Malygos with my shadow priest, prot pally, and combat rogue. None have an iLevel higher than 490. My rogue fell to about 60% during phase 1 because Maly ate a spark.
