You can get the intro quest The Kalimdor Cup Circuit from Lord Andestrasz who is next to the Rostrum of Transformation (where you customize your Dragonriding mounts) in Valdrakken.

/way #2112 27.1 47 Lord Andestrasz

The article above is slightly incorrect as of writing this - the transmog pieces cost 20 badges each - but it is correct that you will need a total of 240 badges to buy everything.

Comment by Lorcryst

Are those a new token that gets in bags, or a "shared currency" accross the account ?

Comment by Keronk

TomTom waypoints for all the races to save people from scanning the map each time.
Make sure you have spoken to Zidormi to go to the Uldum before BFA to see the Uldum race. The Silithus one does appear in the BFA version.

Wait, there is nothing beyond the introduction quest?
The races are just available?
I am not talking about rewards. But there could be at least a quest to complete all the races.

Comment by Kiorelle

Geeze. Couldn't even include a special color for each of the dragonriding mounts? That's disappointing.

Comment by Nightblooms

Is there any traveling to get back and forth to each dragon race? The traveling takes too long to get back and forth

Comment by HeatherWind

For those looking for the quest giver, Lord Andestrasz is at the Obsidian Enclave, on a dais just across from the dragon customization portal.

/way 27, 46 Lord Andestrasz

Comment by Llarold

You get one Riders of Azeroth Badge for each rank on your completion time, so 1 for Bronze, 2 for Silver, and 3 for Gold. If you Gold all 16 races on all 3 difficulties, that's worth 144 Riders of Azeroth Badges. You can also get 10 from completing Lord's Andy's quest.

That's enough Badges to buy all the transmog armor, but about 85 short of the drake appearance cosmetics. If you want to collect everything from this event, expect to do quite a few more races than you might need to finish all the associated achievements.

Comment by m4DD0gg

Have to say the advanced and reverse routes are far more challenging than anything in the Dragon Isles......literally need Top Gun reflexes to get round tight angles and know exactly when to use the Ascent ability.

Comment by shalanoree

Anyone knows where to get the tiny scarf/cloak? I see it everywhere but it doesn't show in the vendor or the 3D model viewer?

Comment by SleeplessSposter

Fun event, I think they should do one where you have to speedrun raids and dungeons on a dragonriding mount.

Comment by erro3

I find it a bit annoying that despite completing gold in all races you still don't earn enough tokens for all of the prizes. I know we can use alts, but it feels like an unnecessary replay, especially after some of those tight timers.

I found Durotar Reverse to be the worst of the races.

Good luck everyone, may you fly clean, fast lines!

Update from my initial comment: I needed 90 more tokens after my initial completion of 16/16 gold on all 3 settings.
Today, it took 10 more races on my alt to earn 80 tokens plus the 10 from the intro quest ( I was aiming for gold regulars and silver advanced/reverse on alt - got a few golds on easier races).

If you did nothing but gold regular (3), silver advanced (2), and silver reverse (2) for a total of 7 tokens per race, it takes roughly 12 races plus intro quest (10) to get the rest of the tokens on an alt. You almost have to do the complete event twice to earn everything! That's ridiculous!

Comment by data261

The races in uldum are in the non-nzoth version...so you might have to talk to zidormi first

Comment by Wyo1

wow, dragon riding races seem to be the new favorite thing for the developers....They will likely pull off this stuff on every single continent

Comment by Tauraxus

So here is the answer for those that wanted to ask the question or forgot to ask the question... "Can I repeat one of the quicker Kalimdor Races to farm the Riders of Azeroth Badges?".

No, sadly, you can't. I tried it by completing a quick race on Gold and got nothing for it.

This means, that you are basically forced to have alts, that can enter the races as well if you want to complete a full set of the transmogs or even get the dragon appearances. If you can complete both the Advanced and Reverse races on Gold though. Sadly, because of my ping, I can only manage Bronze on the Advanced and Reverse races, so I miss out on many of the badge rewards as I can only complete the basic race on Gold. I can get 5 badges per race in total, and 80 badges in total for all the races.

I wonder if devs ever tried doing these sadistic races themselves before even thinking of releasing it as it is now or are they still out of sync with their own community? I guess we still have devs that don't even play the game or its content, so they won't ever know what hardships the players face.

Anyway... So in order for you to get every item from this sadistic event, you will need:

Dragon Appearances - 2x characters to clear all races.
Plate Transmog Set - 2x Plate characters to clear all races.
Mail Transmog Set - 2x Mail characters to clear all races.
Leather Transmog Set - 2x Leather characters to clear all races.
Cloth Transmog Set - 2x Cloth characters to clear all races.

You need 10x characters in total to collect everything from this event.

Good luck and have fun entertaining NPC devs!

Comment by Kamhael

To add to the obvious disappointment of having to complete all races on 10 characters to get the transmogs, my major disappointment is the lack of Dragon Racer's Purse to get any sense of achievement or reward. I feel this is just a developer feature making it to live as a teaser for enabling dragonflying across the old continents in a future patch. You race a dragon through the most exotic, legendary and nostalgic areas... to get back to slow old mounts moving in between racing locations. Pretty sad. The achievement should 100% be made account-wide there is not a single reason to make it character-bound. Unless you admit there is increased difficulty between gnomes/taurens.

Comment by Nezzey

No dressing room link for the dragonriding armor set?

Comment by EasyAmos

Easy basic tips for the desperate dragon racer:

Only use Surge Forward!
Get up to speed fast, with atleast two surges, till you are able to regenerate vigor.
See if there is a steep "downhill" early in the course where you can collect about 4 full vigors,
directly after that you keep using Surge Forward at regular intervals and maintain high speed. A bit more often on uphill slopes. Less in downhill (or relax).
Towards the end, start spamming surge as fast as you can so that you dont have any vigor left when you reach the goal.
And of course try to keep your path as straight as possible... and do not surge in corners.
If you like, use an addon like "Dragon Rider" to be aware of your speed, so you dont over-surge.

It doesnt need to be more complicated than that. :) Good Luck!

Comment by lambd1

So, are the transmog pieces separate for Plate, Mail, Leather, Cloth or will transmog work across all four types? Because I need to know if I really need two alts per type to complete all four sets, or only need two alts to get a single set that will work for all four types, and these two could be of different types (say one Cloth and one Mail, for example).

Comment by Zetsuu

Completing these races gives a little bit of XP, so if you are grinding for tokens, you can do it on an alt to get a level or two while you go.

Comment by Flanell

I did it with inky black potion. Lots of fun and extra challenge, esp. in Felwood where I coudn't tell what hit me in the face. Can't see the obstacles, only the rings, vigor bubbles and lava blobs. It reduces visual clutter and let you focus on the rings.

Comment by zyphantia

I can't get gold on all the reverse and advanced DF races despite dozens of attempts, so reading that these ones are harder makes me sad.

I'm going to have to pay my 14 year old son to get gold for me on the reverse and advanced. . . .

Comment by Shauolin

Its ridiculous that after completing Gold in all 3 Race Types you still don't have enough tokens to buy everything. Why do I need to do it pretty much all again on an Alt just for cosmetics? so dumb

Comment by Zarilla

Warning:

If you are riding along the border from Ahn'Qiraj to Un'Goro Crater - planning to do all of them - be careful not to hang over the mountains exactly. Sweave a little north of it. There is a dead zone that will kick you off your mount, resulting in you falling to your death. It starts right after the first treasure right before you get to the Hive Regal - because you are not allowed to fly over that area,

I guess... it has been many years since I've been here flying. Remember, even when we got our mounts in BC, you could not fly back in the Classic zone. That took, I think, another nine months.

It already sucks that you will go as slow as molasses on your traditional mount, but it is all a ground return to your body. Not the jump into the air. The return to your body is slow, even for a night elf racial trait of Wisp Spirit - 75% speed bonus
to return to your body.

On the other hand, if you don't have the achievement of "Kalimdor Explorer," this is your perfect opportunity.

I am sure we all will find other places we can't fly over - certain dungeons, the opposite faction territories, etc. so your attention to the map will be required.

This has been a fun activity. I hope they do these on more continents and even worlds. The trees are super annoying on some of the races though.

does anyone know if this transmog set will be removed _forever_ when the event is gone?

Comment by Drenic

Easy tip for getting gold in all races. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to beat the timers on the first few races. I finally found a strat that works well for me.

1. Grab the Darian - Dragonriding UI WA. Can't leak here but it should be easy to find.
2. Start each race (first 3-4 rings) slow (around 800-1000 speed).
3. When you start boosting, try to keep yourself above 1200.
4. You cap at 1500 so let your speed drop to just below 1200 and surge forward again.
5. Don't be afraid to use Skyward Ascent if there is even a decent elevation change. You will still get a speed boost and you preserve much more of your acceleration using SA than you get from just surge forward going uphill.

Doing these things has given me a gold every time (usually with some time to spare). Hope it helps and good luck getting all the rewards!

Comment by QuastQuan

Dathendrash and Lord Andestrasz also stand in Orgrimmar /way 52 60 Dathendrash (near the Flight Master) and sell the Drake Racers's transmog items for 20 Badges each

Comment by Tadhg

A little tip regarding which dragon to use, especially for advanced and reverse courses, I recommend the Windborne Velocidrake, as it has a much smaller - if not the smallest - hitbox. This reduces the risk of hitting obstacles.

I was initially using the Winding Slitherdrake since it's narrower, but still clipped an archway in one of the races. The Velocidrake didn't have that issue at all when I tried again.

Comment by Qoko

Small tip for anyone struggling on Advanced and Reversed: glide to ~5 Vigor the first opportunity you have, then start spamming 1 for the remainder of the race. This works for a couple of reasons:

You start with 2.5 Vigor; you spend it more than you gain especially at the start so you want to cap out first.
Giving up a second or five to then consistently race 20% faster means you'll catch up with yourself in no time.
Doing so at the start of the race means you won't give up already build up momentum.

To put this in perspective, weirdly enough I managed certain races with over five seconds to spare, yet some still barely, so I do feel this tactic is at least partially intended.

Comment by Alaurynn

I spent 17 hours straight working on this, and here's some tips so you don't waste anymore time than you have to.

I used 3 WeakAuras to help me: Darian - Dragonriding UI (gives you a better display), Dragonriding Race Times (to track what you've completed since there's not a way to track all of them in the Achievements), and Racing Timer (in case your basic timer has gone missing like mine.)

1) If you don't care about the title and you just want all the rewards, skip the ones that are too difficult and just do the easiest ones again on your alt(s). You can always go back later to complete them. Dont forget to pick up the quest on each alt so you get 10 bonus coins for completing it.

2) Many of the courses have obstacles that "jump out" and snag you when least expected. If this keeps happening to you, simply turn your camera to first person view, and you'll easily see everything before you hit.

3) If you are using the Ascend/Bronze Timeclock tip (do so at your own risk), you need to know a few things. Doing this will gain you a second or two of time at the start of the race, so if you're almost there but off by a few seconds, do this: First, start the race and wait for the countdown to finish. Instead of taking off, "Ascend" until your wings are flapping (usually the 2 key) and then come back down to the starting place. You MUST have at least 2 charges of Ascend before you do the next step. Now Press Bronze Timeclock and immediately tap Ascend twice. This should make your wings flap while on the ground and the countdown begins. If your wings didn't flap, wait for the countdown and try again. If your wings flap, you should spam your 1 key as soon as the race starts, and ideally you'll immediately take off without the delay of having to launch off the ground because you're already in "flight mode". This buys you a second or two.

4) Everyone says you can just spam the 1 key and nothing else and win every race, but this didn't work for me. So I recommend spamming 1 until you see a rise in front of you. Basically if the next ring is more than 20 degrees above you, you want to tilt your camera up as you hit Ascend (2 key). This gives you a big speed boost when you swoop down again. So Ascend with camera up, then hit 1 with camera aimed at ring. If you have multiple ascending rings, you can do it for each ring, as long as you have enough charges. You need to remember where the rises are and save your charges accordingly.

5) Don't waste your time taking a taxi between the races. The taxis out there only go 430% and go all over the place before they get where you're going, but your mount will fly 420% in a straight line as the crow flies. Just rise above the trees, aim for the next race, hit autofly, and sip your coffee.

6) If it's stressing you, skip it. This is supposed to be fun! In case you were wondering, Thousand Needles and Un'goro Crater are really the most fun because you get to go insanely fast. Good luck, Racers!

Lord Andestrasz is also located in Stormwind, in the trade district at 60, 66.2
You can get the intro quest from him there. He's on top of a building directly to the right of The Stockade.

Dathendrash stands next to him, and will sell you the items

whoever designed this event is a sadistic jerk, not only is this harder than any of the stuff in dragon isles it is also buggy it took me an hour in Felwood to get 3 golds alone because it would do buggy crap like land me on a bump that was 6 feet to the left of me and stop me or not give me credit for flying literally right through the green, this #$%^ is worse then mage tower. I don't even Mythic Raid and I would rather do CE Mythic Sark then do this, it's absolutely terrible and what's worse, although thankfully they did extend, they didn't really tell anyone about this event, so those of us who got stuck doing it during the extended time are really struggling and under the time crunch and it just makes it so so stressful

Anything new this time?

Comment by MissLilith

So after completing everything on gold (all cups) the past times, buying what i could back then i now got 45 badges left and 5 cosmetic items that are 20 each left to buy from this event, so i need 55 badges for everything left (i bought the drake skins back then instead).
Yet now i can only get 10 more badges for a full rerun of ALL the courses? Wth blizz, it's hard enough to get em gold, but to deny us being able to buy what is left the second time around is insane. 10 badges for 16 or so courses is just crazy. I would not have mind redoing them again for the last, let's say 100 badges, even though it would take some time. But for 10? Oooof what are you doing blizz, trying to make us feel bad/frustrated? :(
