Dragon-Tempered Blades and Indiscriminate Carnage build continues to thrive. There is little reason to play anything else, however some people might opt to play a more cleave oriented build on Tyrannical Weeks, or if they know their group is pulling smaller. Personally I don't recommend playing it, but I have linked the alternative build above if you wish to try it out for yourself!

Affix	Recommended Talents
Sanguine	Do not use Crippling Poison as this will inevitably keep mobs in the pool.
Raging	Shiv can soothe targets. Arterial Precision does make this effect AoE.
Incorporeal	Blind and Gouge can both be used to dispel the spirits.
Entangling	Vanish can remove the effect at the cost of some damage. I personally recommend just being aware of it and moving quickly with Sprint or Shadowstep.

Dealing with Weekly Affixes as a Assassination Rogue

Assassination Rogues have many different tools to deal with dungeon affixes and help their group with them. You can check a couple of highlights below.

The affix seems to be mainly a healer affix, and Assassination Rogue can't help much with this. The Afflicted Cry haste debuff is really brutal, but there isn't anything you can do about it except trust your healer, or use Cloak of Shadows to remove the debuff from yourself. The use case for Cloak of Shadows is really really specific, and should mostly be used to keep yourself alive instead of removing the debuff.

Vanish can, but shouldn't generally be used to remove the snare.
Use mainly Shadowstep and Sprint to quickly get out of the circle.

Any CC despawns the monsters, so make sure to use Kidney Shot, Blind, and Gouge frequently.

Simply move out of the volcanic.

The main thing here to watch which way the tornados are going, and dodging in the opposite direction to make sure you're not in the path.

This affix is the main use for Evasion in mythic+. You can also Kidney Shot any Spiteful that is chasing you down.

Shiv can be used to remove the enrage effect. Keep track of which mobs could potentially wipe your group, and make sure your group has a soothe assigned for it. Holding Shiv here is of greater benefit than using it for damage. You can't do damage when you're dead!

Cloak of Shadows is commonly used to immune high stacks. You can pair this with a Restoration Shaman Spirit Link Totem. Make sure you always tell your healer beforehand if you're cloaking so they don't waste heals on you during this high-pressure moment. If you have a Restoration Shaman in the group, make sure to communicate your cooldowns for big moments in order to smooth out the healing. Additionally just using Healthstone's and Crimson Vial can help a lot.

Avoid bursting down any one specific mob. Equalizing the health across the mobs is the name of the game here.

Avoid using any CC ability while enemies are within the pools. It is recommended to not use Crippling Poison in weeks with this affix.

Assassination Rogue Viability In Mythic+

In Mythic+, Assassination has similar strengths and weaknesses compared to 10.0, but it can still hold its own against other classes. The main problem with Assassination is again its lack of AoE damage. We can combat this somewhat through our talents, but it is often held against the spec by pugs and seen as a poorly performing spec because of it. I think this notion is a little outdated. Assassination can bring far more than just AoE damage. It still boasts good single target damage against bosses, and Indiscriminate Carnage can enable a lot of strong utility through Iron Wire, which can save pulls. As a rogue we of course also bring Numbing Poison, an underrated utility that can help passively reduce a lot of damage your tank will be taking. While Assassination may not be the most sought-after spec in Mythic+, I firmly believe you can succeed with it even at the highest levels.

In general, you will find that most issues stem from underutilization of cooldowns like Indiscriminate Carnage and Deathmark, or simply not spreading enough bleeds to sustain energy through Venomous Wounds. I highly suggest using Warcraftlogs to log your mythic+ keys for review after. Personally I actually record my runs locally, or save my twitch stream to watch them back after. It's quite humbling to see yourself play sometimes!

Assassination Rogue Mythic+ Utility

Shroud of Concealment: Skipping dangerous packs of enemies

Shroud of Concealment is a fantastic tool in Mythic+ to get more favorable routes for your group. It has seen play in every season of Mythic+, and Dragonflight is no exception. As you do more and more Mythic+ dungeons, you'll quickly familiarize yourself with groups who will expect these skips from you.

Numbing Poison: Passive damage reduction

Honestly, a very underrated damage reduction that can help reduce a lot of incoming damage on the Tank in your group. A large majority of the damage taken by Tanks in dungeon is from melee hits. Numbing Poison helps by increasing the time between these attacks, reducing the overall damage and allowing for the Healer and Tank to smooth out any spikes in damage.

Cloak of Shadows and Evasion: Immune targeted mechanics

As a rogue, you should be aiming to use Cloak of Shadows and Evasion whenever possible. Evasion especially has had interesting use cases in the past, mostly used to immune targeted charge mechanics. Cloak of Shadows can be used defensively as a way to immune a large hit of magic damage, remove a debuff, or soak a mechanic by yourself.

Iron Wire: Consistent Silences

Iron Wire is exclusive to Assassination Rogues and highly coveted. When combo'd with Indiscriminate Carnage, it can become a combination of Solar Beam and Ironbark for your Tank. It's an incredibly powerful combo that can sometimes save disastrous pulls, help group packs together, or even allow pulls that previously were not possible.

I'd like to throw out my talent build for M+ in general. I've tweaked it several times but it has served me pretty well in keeping up with most high aoe classes and still doing well in single target.

I figured I'd edit this since talents have changed since I last posted this. It seems my build this time is almost the same. I've never been one to copy from sites or other people because I'm always playing with talents myself to find what's best.
From the Rogue tree side it looks like people are preferring gouge. That's strange to me because aoe happens so much it almost always just gets used as an interrupt instead of a stun. I much prefer Nimble Fingers as we should be using our own healing as much as possible. We already have a wide variety of stuns, silences and interrupts as it is.
Unbreakable Stride is also a weird take for me. First off there aren't many slows in M+ as it is. If there are, we have several ways of breaking it anyway, not to mention our healer's ability to dispel/freedom. I took Deadened nerves here because sometimes damage is unavoidable, having phys reduction is great.

Now on the Sin side it looks like the major difference is, I chose Flying Daggers. This seems to be an unpopular opinion but in bigger keys we're nearly always pulling more than 5 targets. That being the case, my aoe easily competes or destroys other dps that supposedly have amazing aoe. Taking Halls of Valor into consideration, most groups are now pulling all 3 packs of mobs at the same time and usually lusting. It's very rare I'm beat on this pack with my build. Not saying it doesn't happen but I do very well I think.
I honestly don't believe improved poisons is worth going into for M+ and aoe. It looks like many people are still taking Exsanguinate, and that's also very strange to me. With the nerf to its CD I don't see it being great for the fast pace of M+. It surely does well on bosses, but I don't see taking it over Master Assassin where it not only helps with openers, but with using vanish as a major CD. Lastly, losing lightweight shiv doesn't seem great to me either. It not only helps with the many enrages, but Shiv is a great cooldown and having it up twice as much is amazing.

I've opted to get rid of Kingsbane in favor of Poison Bomb. PB especially with resounding clarity Echo will proc a lot. In some pulls it ends up being in the top 3 of my damage. A reason we were never taken in high M+ in Shadowlands was our lack of AoE. Sure we had okay single target but it wasn't enough to get us invited. With my current build I compete for AoE and still get #1 for single target.

As I said earlier this xpac I'm always wanting to better myself. So I'm constantly tweaking my current build I've posted above. I'd also love input from other Assassin Rogues! I'm not claiming what I've said or what I've linked is best. It's just what I feel has worked best for me. I never have anyone to talk about this stuff, so please, feel free to even contradict me or tell me I'm wrong from a numbers standpoint. :)

In SL season 3 and 4 I managed to do multiple 21s and 20s as Sin and ended up around top 100 world for Sin. I know my spec, but I am always looking to be better.
