Welcome to our Mistweaver Monk starter guide, which covers everything you need to start playing a new character in Shadowlands. While our other guide pages go into more individual detail, this simple starter guide covers all the basics in one place, whether you're a new Mistweaver Monk, a returning player to Shadowlands, hardcore, or casual alike, it's the best place to get a beginners overview on the class. Included are basic talent builds, simplified rotations, stats, legendary recommendations, and more to get you started as quickly as possible.
Please keep in mind that this page is meant to get players started quickly as an introduction, and does not contain much in the way of detailed explanations, mechanics, competitive options, gearing, simulation comparisons, or nuance. Mistweaver Monk Legendaries Guide
Best Mistweaver Monk Talents
Mistweaver Monks have two primary playstyles. In terms of Fistweaver or Mistweaver, either or provide similar healing output. If you are just starting out, I reccomend learning the Mistweaving playstyle, which is highlighted below. This talent build is primarily focused on a more healing caster style for players getting started with end game activities, but our Mistweaver Monk Talent Guide goes into more detail for each talent, as well as providing specific builds for questing, Mythic+, and Raids.
Mistweaver Monk Talents Guide
Mistweaver Monk Stat Priority
Consitent with previous expansions, you will want to equip your highest item level items available. Intellect is extremely strong early in this expansion, so to simple your choices, equip your highest item level available in each of your slots. You can find out more about how stats work, including sample stat weights and scaling plots in the Stats Guide, or get an overview of the best-in-slot gear to look for from dungeons and raids in the Mistweaver Monk Gear Guide.
Intellect > Haste = Mastery = Crit = Versatility
Intellect
: Increases your Spell Power, and with it, the healing done by your spells.
Critical Strike
: You have a percent chance for your healing or damage abilities to land for twice their value.
Haste
: Your casts, channeled spells, and Global Cooldown are faster. As an added bonus,
Renewing Mist
,
Enveloping Mist
, and the HoT effect from
Essence Font
will heal for more with additional ticks of healing, increasing their mana effectiveness.
Mastery
: Your targeted spells also heal the target with a
Gust of Mists
. Mastery rating increases the Spell power coefficient of this heal, which is what Intellect uses to heal.
Versatility
: A baseline, passive healing and damage increase, as well as reducing damage at half the labeled percent of the damage and healing increase (e.g. 5% healing/damage increase is a 2.5% damage reduction).
Note: If you are Venthyr, Critical Strike becomes your most sought-after secondary stat.

Renewing Mist
on cooldown
Use
Vivify
to top off any individual damage
Use
Thunder Focus Tea
to buff your other healing spells above
Use
Chi Burst
on cooldown, ensuring you are facing the group as you cast
On group damage, use
Essence Font
and follow up with single target healing from
Vivify
On slow rot damage,
Refreshing Jade Wind
can be used to top the group
On heavy individual damage, use
Soothing Mist
in conjuction with
Enveloping Mist
If you need to heal a large amount of damage, use
Mana Tea
before hand to lower your mana costs
Keep
Life Cocoon
available to save someone from death
Utilize

as often as possible for additional healing
If a group is taking heavy damage, use
