About the Author
Hello, I'm
Porom
a Mage player in <Divergence>. I have been playing WoW on and off since release and am an active staff member in the
Altered-Time
discord. I have played at the top end in the earlier expansions of WoW but now I prefer to keep my raiding time short and efficient. I stream my guild's raids and some dungeons every now and again over at
twitch
. You can also find me in the
Arcane Dream
discord.
Macros
Macros are simple, in-game tools which allow you to sequence spells together, create custom names and icons, cast different abilities depending on whether the target is friendly or hostile, define targeting conditions, and much, much more. While the amount of options can be complex, making them is easy, so in this section we'll go over how to set them up yourself.
To open the in-game Macro interface, type "/macro" or "/m".
Choose between the General and Character-specific macro tabs. Then click the "New" button on the macro window.
Choose a Name and an Icon so you can easily recognize your macro, then click "Okay."
Select your new macro and use the text editor below to tell it what to do. If copying ours below, you can simply copy/paste the text in.
Click the "Save" button, and drag your macro icon onto your bars, which will allow it to be used just like any other spell from your spellbook.
To close the window, click "Exit", or just press Escape.
For more information on creating macros, including full lists of conditionals, modifiers, and other command customizations you can use, check out our full

The Macro for Big Burns
Use this macro to cast
Arcane Surge
and other spells until
Touch of the Magi
is up and you're casting
Arcane Blast
(unless specced into Orb Barrage). Here's a couple versions I intend to play around with which should be great for ST, Cleave, and AOE (for AOE just move after barrage so Blast doesn't start casting). Be sure to add any racials into the 2nd macro that you want to use, the items referenced are dps potions, 13 is first trinket slot, 14 second, this macro breaks queueing between Surge and Barrage, allowing Spark to increment:
/castsequence reset=10 Arcane Surge, Mana Gem, Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi, Arcane Blast;reset=10 Arcane Surge, Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi, Arcane Blast
/use 13
/use item:191914
/use item:191383
/castsequence reset=10 Arcane Surge, Mana Gem, Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi, Arcane Blast;reset=10 Arcane Surge, Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi, Arcane Blast
/use Mana Gem
/cqs
Belor'Relos and Iridal
This macro will use
Nether Tempest
and
Belor'relos, the Suncaller
together, this also works for
Iridal, the Earth's Master
using 16 for main hand, since both of these items can be casted during the GCD:
#showtooltip 14
/cast Nether Tempest
/use 14
/cqs
I will also have a separate keybinding for my steroid trinkets since they all have unique usages as well as having them in the big burn macro.
/use 13
Mana Gem Recreate
Deletes your current
Mana Gem
and summons a new one if you already have one in your bags.
As of 9.1.5, macros can no longer click the accept delete dialogue option; instead you should
download this addon
and use the below macro (it is regrettable that this functionality is not built into the spell since it has in the past).
You need the addon for the macro to work!
#showtooltip
/click DeleteManaGem
/use Conjure Mana Gem
Ice Floes
This will use a charge of
Ice Floes
and then
Shifting Power
, this macro can be used for
Arcane Surge
to safeguard these important spellcasts, however I find that not macroing this powerful mobility spell is the best, this macro is simply to help newer players get accustomed to its usage.
#showtooltip Shifting Power
/castsequence reset=10 Ice Floes, Shifting Power, Shifting Power
/cast Shifting Power
Presence of Mind
This is a spammable option for
Presence of Mind
that casts
Arcane Blast
as soon as possible after.
#showtooltip
/cast Presence of Mind
/cast Arcane Blast
/cqs
Alter Time
Cancels the
Alter Time
buff in case it's in a bad position and you do not want to be pulled back to it when the duration expires.
#showtooltip Alter Time
/cancelaura Alter Time
Counterspell
Stops your current cast and immediately interrupts your target
#showtooltip Counterspell
/stopcasting
/cast Counterspell
As above, but for your focus target
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast Counterspell
Iceblock
A two-part macro. The first press cancels your current cast and casts
Ice Block
; the second press cancels the
Ice Block
. Use this to quickly clear debuffs or avoid boss abilities without losing too much DPS time, but don't spam it if you need the Ice Block immunity.
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cancelaura Ice Block
/cast Ice Block
Polymorph
Polymorph
s your current target and sets it as a focus. If you already have a focus target, the macro will
Polymorph
that instead. Hold shift while pressing to clear your focus target.
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/clearfocus
/focus
/cast Polymorph
Slowfall
Fall with style, first click casts
Slow Fall
on your mouseover target, if that doesn't exist, it casts on you. Second click cancels the
Slow Fall
effect on yourself allowing you to fall quicker.
#showtooltip
/cancelaura Slow Fall
/cast Slow Fall
The next 2 sections are for historical purposes
T30 Rotation Version
There is another version of this macro that I have been recommending to some people for the
T30
rotation which uses Mana Divining Stone, cast barrage after a short delay, uses touch of the magi, then
Irideus Fragment
, then
Arcane Blast
. (Mana Divining Stone can be acquired by following the steps in the comments here:
Mana Divining Stone
#comments)
/use Mana Gem
/castsequence reset=10 Mana Divining Stone, Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi, 14, Arcane Blast, Arcane Blast, Arcane Blast
Touch on Last Spark Stack
This macro uses Spark and your 20-second trinket in the bottom slot. /cqs prevents the queued casted spell from queueing, allowing items to be used easily before spark in this case.
#showtooltip Radiant Spark
/use 14
/cast Radiant Spark
/cqs
This macro will use your trinket,
Mana Gem
, then
Arcane Blast
. This is good to use after
Arcane Surge
before
Arcane Barrage
.
#showtooltip Arcane Blast
/use 14
/use Mana Gem
/cast Arcane Blast
/cqs
Cast
Arcane Barrage
and then casts
Touch of the Magi
. The 2nd
Touch of the Magi
is to break the macro so you don't accidentally barrage again. This macro specifically helps with landing the combo correctly in close range without accidentally consuming charges from Touch.
#showtooltip Touch of the Magi
/castsequence reset=10 Arcane Barrage, Touch of the Magi, Touch of the Magi
