New Race/Class: Dracthyr Evoker Available: Players will menace their foes (or empower their allies) as the new dracthyr Evoker, World of Warcraft’s first-ever race and class combination. Able to switch between a humanoid visage and a fearsome draconic form, the dracthyr are highly mobile, and their unique Evoker class can specialize in ranged damage-dealing or in aiding their allies as a healer by harnessing the mystical gifts of dragonkind.

Important Facts About Dracthyr and Evokers

Dracthyr Evokers begin at level 58 in their own starter zone, the Forbidden Reach.

Dracthyr can be either Alliance or Horde.

Players must have at least one character who is level 50 on their account to roll up a Dracthyr Evoker.

You are limited to one (1) Evoker character per realm. If you want both an Alliance and Horde Evoker, you will need to roll them up on separate servers.

We expect Evokers will become available during pre-patch to players who own the Dragonflight expansion, but we have not yet received official confirmation on this.

Pyre: (Devastation Talent) Red - Lob a ball of flame, dealing (81% of Spell power) Fire damage to the target and nearby enemies.

Disintegrate: Blue - Tear into an enemy with a blast of blue magic, inflicting (228% of Spell power) Spellfrost damage over 3 sec, and slowing their movement speed by 30% for 3 sec.

Emerald Blossom: Green - Grow a bulb from the Emerald Dream at an ally's location. After 2 sec, heal up to 3 injured allies within 10 yds for (150% of Spell power).

Deep Breath: Black - Take in a deep breath and fly to the targeted location, spewing molten cinders dealing (230% of Spell power) Volcanic damage to enemies in your path. You are immune to movement impairing and loss of control effects while flying.

Blessing of the Bronze: Bronze - Weave the threads of time, reducing the cooldown of a major movement ability for all party and raid members by 15% for 1 hour.

You receive the Covenant ability given to all players of that Covenant, such as Door of Shadows for the Venthyr. However, you do not receive a different class ability for every Covenant. Evokers get the same class ability regardless of Covenant choice.

You can get a small subset of Conduits that are mostly not specific to Evokers, although there are a couple exceptions.

There are no Evoker-specific Legendaries.

There are actually a very nice array of Evoker-specific abilities for Torghast.

Evokers entering Oribos through the city portal for the first time will be presented with Re-Introductions, which allows them to proceed directly to choosing their Covenant rather than having to go through the class campaign.Evoker CovenantsSummon StewardFleshcraftSoulshapeDoor of Shadows

Boon of the Covenants - Call upon the Covenants of the Shadowlands to aid you, restoring (600% of Spell power) health and increasing your Versatility by 10% for 12 sec. Hearty Sustenance - Essence recharges 30% faster.

Legacy of Knowledge - The cooldowns of Blue and Bronze spells are reduced by 10%.

Legacy of Power - The cooldowns of Black spells are reduced by 10%.

Legacy of Wisdom - The cooldowns of Red and Green spells are reduced by 10%.

Talon-Raked Aegis - Reduces the cooldown of Wing Buffet and Tail Swipe by 30 sec.

Worn Adamantine Scale - Soul Remnant's Blessing increases the duration of Obsidian Scales by 20% per application.

Colossal Fang - Fire Breath's damage over time effect also silences enemies.

Energized Membrane - Hover lasts 10 seconds longer.

Poisonous Spores - Emerald Blossom damages enemies within its radius for 100% of its healing amount.

Pulsating Eggshell - Gain the Essence Burst effect every 20 seconds.

Roar in a Bottle - Empower spells grant you 5% versatility per empower level for 10 sec.

Spectral Sproutling - Emerald Blossom now grows a bulb at all of your allies' locations, or a second blub on yourself if you're not in a party.

You said that "green wave" doesnt have a name yet, but your empowered pic shows a caption "dream breath". I think you can be allowed the jump to assume the name there.

Also for weapon specs, since off hand isnt listed i am assuming dual wield for all the 1h items?

Anyone has any information/idea how they intend to have Evokers go through Legion leveling experience? For unlocks, reputation and collectables. To put it into perspective, the very start of Legion starts with class order hall, also the class order hall is a source of many collectable unlocks.

My biggest concern is an unbalance of each dragonflights magic. e.g. Devastation containing 85% red magic and 15% blue magic. Or Preservation containing 90% Green magic and 10% Bronze magic.

This would in my opinion make it a lot less enticing if any of the flights is grossly under-represented.

Can Dracthyr truly fly or is it just Dragonriding flying and "gliding +" like Ion said? I've seen some sites saying Dracthyr can actually fly like normal flight in old areas and saying Dracthyr can do the full Dragonriding flight stuff on their own? So whats the truth? I'd rather have Dracthyr be able to at least do normal flying like hover in place and all that.

They need to be allowed to be tanks it's just awful and makes absolutely no sense that they cant be tanks so now there's like 7 healers 25 dps and only 6 tanks idk why all of you downvoting me because I feel like we should have more choices you guys must be pretty sad and pathetic to hate my post saying they should be tanks maybe make some life choices as to why a simple statement like that bugs you somuch

Really hoping that heal spec wont be tied down to only staffs , I want to be able to have a choice for once like there is more weapons in the game then just staffs for healers you know .

My concern is transmog--mail has so few options as it is, plus this new class won't be able to use any old PVP sets (which would be hunter- or shaman-only).

And on that note of transmog, Dracthyr and Worgen both need a toggle of some kind to be able to be automatically put back in human/visage forms when combat ends.

I am really excited about this, but have you taken into consideration players with physical challenges.. I am really concerned i won't even be able to play them because of my arthritis. Other players have even more severe restrictions.

My Biggest Question is: DO Evokers Dual Wield, or will they be like Spellblades, having an Off-Hand Item instead? Or even a Shield?

The guide says, "Once Dracthyr Evokers are done with their starter zone, they will be ready to jump straight into Dragonflight content."

However, I've completed the starter zone, I'm level 60 in Orgrimmar but Questzertauren tells me, "I'm sorry friend, it looks like you aren't eligible for any of the places I can currently send you." I have my talents set, I've learned flying. I'm not sure what else I need to do, sadly the guide doesn't say the steps needed, just that when we're finished with the starter zone, to be able to go to the Dragon Isles. Since the guide doesn't mention any other steps, I'm under the impression that this is a bug. Anyone else have this problem? Is it a bug and I should be able to go to Dragon Isles at this point?

Edit: I just created another Evoker on the other realm. I boosted it to 60, talked with Questzertauren and he boosted me to 68 and sent me to The Fallen Course in Dragon Isles, Thaldraszus. So, what does this mean? It can't be that we need to be 68 before going to the Dragon Isles. That's a lot of content for just two levels. Sadly, the map doesn't show the level requirement for each zone.

Do we have any idea what the racial passives for Dracthyr will be (like Pandarian Cooking, Gnome Engineering, Tauren Herbalism, etc.)? I typically make new characters have Herbalism and Mining for the additional xp while leveling, but I'm curious if Dracs will have a bonus for leatherworking or some such.

I checked out every weapon type available on the Beta to gather some data here (so consider this is subject to change).

The General Spellbook tab states: "Axes, Daggers, Fist Weapons, Maces, Staves Swords." This list is notably missing Off-Hands, but that is typical of all caster weapon lists.
Both 1H and 2H versions of the Axes, Swords, and Maces are currently useable, contrary to the article. It's also worth nothing we don't tend to see Int on 2 handers other than Staffs these days, however this is crucial info for transmog purposes.

Here is what's actually equipable right now.

I know they didn't want to add one, but i'm really hoping the community pushes for a black dragon-esk tanking spec.. they can use all aspects, no reason for us not to have a tank spec :( (IMO the currently specs are pretty lackluster too.. ngl we have 4 whole aspects that went into those 2...

The game already has 6 healer specs, do we really need another one?

Currently, WoW has 6 healer, and 6 tank specs, the remainder of which are all DPS. It is already a power struggle for existing healer specs to earn their place in PuGs and Raids, without adding yet another healer spec to the mix. The same applies for tanks, incidentally:

Tank Specs:

Warrior (Protection)
Paladin (Protection)
Death Knight (Blood)
Druid (Guardian)
Monk (Brewemaster)
Demon Hunter (Malice)

Healer Specs:

Priest (Holy)
Priest (Discipline)
Shaman (Restoration)
Druid (Restoration)
Paladin (Holy)
Monk (Mistweaver)

Each of the above are already competing for their place in groups, which some specs already reigning higher than the others. There is no need to add another of either spec. DPS specs on the other hand will always be a welcome addition, as these slot in well regardles of their origin. Some DPS spec may have slightly better tertiart skills, but in terms of raw DPS they are all relatively equal (given a similar power level)

Add to that the fact that the new Evoker healer class is so far looking to be pretty lacklustre with its mediocre ranged spell-casting (25 yards compared to standard healer specs 40 yards), which will cause many issues in Dungeons, and Raids, and be a disaster for PVP content.

IMO the Evoker should both be DPS spec, with the "healer" aspect of the second spec simply being thematic, similar to some other DPS specs

so black flight was erased. not a single talent in any spec with black tag. maybe this is a lore choice, maybe we will have something later with story developpment but its a bad idea. this game need more tank and lorewise i can"t understand the black flight being canceled.

One thing that was confusing me - I ended up doing the entire Zereth Campaign yesterday....

You can get both legendary Items made straight away (once you have the right mats) You also don't need to try, and Rep Grind/ Torghast run for recipes (where i spent a lot of time messing around) This is not that clearly shown in game sadly.

I just wanted to point out that the following comment from the guide (at least for me) doesn't work, as my evoker is unable to cast empowered spells while moving:

"Pure Opinion: Personally, I found Press and Tap less prone to user error and easier to use in an actual combat situation, particularly if you want to move while casting."

Maybe there is a talent that I overlooked which allows casting empowered spells while moving, but I don't seem to be able to find that.

Also, the section talks about "moving left or right to change the cone direction", which doesn't work. You can rotate your character to aim the cast, but moving in any direction will still interrupt it.

Since Dracthyr won't come with an easy way to return to Orgrimmar once you change your hearth to somewhere in Dragon Isles, here's an easy workaround. Get a Dalaran Hearthstone and use the portal there (surely works for Alliance in Stormwind too...) Follow this link and it's super simple and fast. -> -> BlizzBattleNet
