WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 198th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
Samadan
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
TSM
. I have a number of guides over on
YouTube
and I also stream my adventures on
Twitch
.
What to do at the Tail End of a Patch?
So here we are at a lull point in the game, many have taken a break and turn their eyes to other shiny new endeavours. This is a game after all and we are here to be entertained. For many of us, the draw of WoW is still strong and there is much to do in the game even at this stage of a patch. This is especially true for gold makers as there is always something to do.
u/OliT95 asks the question of where to go as the patch gets deeper?
So for the last month or so I have been trading in the consumables area for end game content. As the prices are dropping and as I assume demand will go down as the patch continues where do I go next?
I’ve been buying mats crafting and then flipping I’ve built from about 100k to about 2.5m when everything is liquidated. What’re people’s advice in ways to make money as the patch goes deeper as I haven’t experienced this as a goblin as I started doing this recently.
Since material costs are getting cheaper and keeping up with sales is easier, it's posturing time. What professions will you want next patch? Do you need another character? Is there any hard to get patterns you're missing? Is there anything non-goblin you want to do for fun? When patch hits you likely won't have time for this, so it's a good time to get started.
u/RookJackson has some great advice here and we can expand on that further into things to do right now as regular commodities steadily drop in price.
Depth in Professions
Now would be the perfect time to fill out professions from older world content. There are still many crafted things that sell to other players. It might be certain enchants for levelling or some hard to get crafted transmog that might just be the set piece for an ensemble. Now that each expansions profession can be levelled separately, many will have skipped the old stuff and just focus on the latest expansion.
Diversity is key here.
The more variety you have on the auction house, the more markets you can capture.
The basic levelling and filling out old content expansions is just the start however, there is then the not so small matter of collecting recipes and patterns all over Azeroth and running old dungeons to try to get them to drop. Herein lies the Addon
All the Things
and there you can rest easy in the knowledge that there will ALWAYS be something to do in the game!
Prepare for Future Content
Keeping a close eye on the PTR and what is going on here on Wowhead is perfect preparation to look into what is coming up in the next patch and where there might be new opportunities. We already know that currently,
material drops are going to get buffed
and the likely side effect is prices of these and therefore Legendaries is going to drop. Legendaries will also be scrappable and perhaps players will experiment with new combinations. Is it worth looking into those markets now? Perhaps if you have some spare millions you could invest in setting yourself up for a few sales?
The next patch 9.1.5 seems to be the patch for alts. With many players levelling more characters, perhaps there is a market there for crafted items that help them level or at set points like fresh level 50s and ilvl 87 gear and fresh level 60s and ilvl 200 gear using
Novice Crafter's Marks
and
Crafter's Mark III
.
Multiply Characters
Multiple characters means multiple professions and multiple opportunities to capture more markets. While others might want to make a new character just to try out a different class, here in the gold making community we can leverage multiple characters with covering all professions. No mean feat to manage in itself, but certainly doable.
There is also the matter of Mission Tables and Callings which we have talked about extensively recently, these all bring in a reasonable amount of gold simply from playing the game and when multiplied over several characters, they can add up very quickly.
Do What's Fun!
Of course, it goes without saying, now is the perfect time to have fun. Take a break if you want, play differently, try new things out, seek out challenges. Whatever piques your interest.
Legion LFR Gold Runs
u/iceberg265
thought they would try out every Legion LFR now that they are fairly easy to run through and see what kind of gold they get ...
I thought I would try something new with today's video, let me know if this format is helpful or if I should scrap it.
Here is a link to the video:
See the video to find out the results from each individual wing, but this took a combined approximately 90mins and netted a total of 3,308.7 gold.
For comparison purposes this gives an approximate gold per hour value of 2,205.8 gold per hour. You can only do this once per week.
I definitely do not recommend this as a regular source of income, even though I did find a BoE drop that is supposedly worth 36k gold, but if anyone needs the achievements or wants to run it for fun it is pretty easy so go for it!
While the gold amount may be particularly low here, it serves other purposes in getting certain higher ranks of professions recipes, transmog for yourself and some that will sell to other players.
I have sold a few of those over inflated legion drops though I think it took like half a year. Not fast sellers. I still run this frequently for a few xmogs I need and to pick up some Chaos Crystals (probably not the most efficient way to do that if I didn't need the xmog).
If you are after raw gold,
Komlit
has a great video going through the current best methods..
Rundown of Group Farms
Another method of gold making is the use of group farms. These have been less reported due to the limitations of multiboxing, but that doesn't stop a group of friends getting together and farming a certain area.
The Game Part
has a great rundown here on a number of group farms to try out...
