The Siege of Boralus is a dungeon in Battle for Azeroth that has undergone some changes in build 26231. Previously we
speculated on the story of Boralus
using a mix of questing, broadcast text, and the datamined encounter journal for our analysis. Now the final boss of Boralus has changed and reveals more of the story.
If you'd like to read up on more Battle for Azeroth bosses, check out the
Battle for Azeroth Dungeon Boss Abilities and Encounter Journal
.
Story spoilers in the post.
Old Boss - Kraken
The previous journal entry had the final boss as a Kraken. This appeared to be controlled by Lady Ashvane who also wielded azerite-empowered weaponry and healed to full with dark power at 10%. Here was the old entry:

New Boss - Behamat
Now in build 26231, the final boss has been changed to
Behamat
, an Aberration known as the Terror of the Deep.
This boss, unlike the Kraken, has a description:
Summoned from the depths by Lady Ashvane to destroy what remains of Boralus' defenses, Behamat has devastated the harbor. Capable of pulling entire galleons to the crushing depths, this leviathan must be defeated before the Kul Tiran fleet is destroyed.
This confirms all the
datamined broadcast text
that Lady Ashvane was summoning a strong force from the sea to destroy Boralus:
Queen Azshara, I implore you. Grant me the power to bring Borlaus to its knees!
With Lady Ashvane not the final boss, perhaps she has escaped and will remain alive through the
Azshara raid and story
.
Overview
:
Repair parts need to be recovered from teh wreckage to fix broken cannons. Once repaired, these cannons can be turned on Behamat to inflict massive damage.

Several bosses and their loot are now marked as faction-specific. This implies that the dungeon will be something both factions can run and therefore will have a story buildup and payoff for not just the Alliance, but the Horde as well.
Chopper Redhook
is the Alliance boss: Chopper Redhook's brutality is feared throughout Kul Tiras. Supported by Irontide forces, Chopper is free to rampage through Boralus, relishing the choas rampant in the streets.
Sergeant Bainbridge
is the Horde boss: Sergeant Bainbridge is a devout officer that vehemently enforces the will of the Kul Tiran church. Believing that his faith places him above all others, Bainbridge is quick to send those who oppose him to the noose.
The Story So Far
We
previously covered
how Lady Ashvane betrayed Katherine Proudmoore in the Tiragarde Sound questline. This followed Jaina petitioning her mother to aid the Alliance, which resulted in exile from Kul Tiras. While the questline ended with the betrayal, the
datamined broadcast text
showed that Lady Ashvane organized an attack on Boralus, drawing upon the power of Queen Azshara. This pact nicely paralleled
Zul's partnership with Lady Azshara
.
Since we last covered that story, there is another parallel--the inherit power of each empire is significantly weakened. The Horde quests end with the Zanchuli Council turning on each other and several loa killed and corrupted by Zul, including Rezan, Loa of the Kings. King Rastakhan is shamed and the
Prelates of Rezan
, Zandalari Paladins, feel their power has left them. With the Behamat description, we learn that the harbor of Boralus is destroyed and the entire navy is at risk. Both empires, which seemed prosperous at first glance and unwelcoming of our assistance, are not as stable as the Alliance and Horde initially thought.
We've also had two interesting rounds of broadcast text since the initial article.
26175
discussed Katherine's stubborn and prideful mindset, which explains why she may have been eager to listen to Lady Ashvane instead of Jaina.
26231
confirms that Ashvane convinced Katherine to treat Jaina as a traitor when petitioned to aid the Alliance with the naval fleet. We also datamined a folk song portraying Jaina as an traitorous Daughter of the Seas.
