During the Twitter Spaces chat with Taliesin & Evitel, Game Direction Ion Hazzikostas spoke more about the plans for Mythic+ in Dragonflight, explaining better their idea of having returning dungeons as part of the Mythic+ rotation.
No Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth Dungeons
His first comment was that both Shadowlands and BFA dungeons are too recent to be considered "past dungeons", so the pool of possible dungeons slated to return for Dragonflight seasons include Legion and older expansions only.
Defining Modern Dungeons
Ion also mentioned that the WoW Team considers Mists of Pandaria as the starting point for what they call "modern" dungeons, as dungeons from Classic, TBC, Wrath, and Catalysm don't hold up in terms of visual fidelity or mechanical complexity, making them not suitable for Dragonflight. With this, dungeons from Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, and Legion are eligible for to come back for Dragonflight seasons.

Can you see it going all the way back to classic dungeons?
That's unlikely. Maybe, you know, in a world where we are re completely reworking or reimagining some older dungeons as we did in some later expansions, that version could hold up, but I think they don't both in terms of visual fidelity and mechanical complexity. Those dungeons I think wouldn't be suitable for modern gameplay. I think internally the team probably draws the bar at Mists of Pandaria and onwards in terms of what's still feels consistent with how we designed.
Today, it's often say that we couldn't go earlier than that, but we would also need to rework them significantly if we did so.
Attempting to Keep Mythic+ Fresh - Why Have Different Dungeons Every Season?
This change in the Mythic+ format, having different dungeons in the pool every season, comes as an attempt to keep Mythic+ feeling fresh throughout an expansion. Blizzard agrees that just having different affixes to mix up the dungeon isn't enough, as ultimately you end up with situations like having to farm
Rubis d’effusion d’âmes
multiple times over an expansion.
Gameplay-wise, it is also an opportunity for Blizzard to give players different content every Mythic+ season, similar to raids, so there is always a puzzle for the community to crack down.
Some Changes - Not a Timewalking Recreation
Blizzard is also open for tweaks and changes to the dungeons to support modern gameplay. That's important because Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor dungeons weren't build with the Mythic+ mentality, but instead, built for Challenge Modes.

I would love to be able to say that we could create 8 new dungeons every months. That is not something we're able to do. One day, maybe, but that's not something we're able to do today. So by mixing up old and new, I think we can , , both itemization wise and gameplay wise, every season can be a fresh experience, the same way a raider experiences every season. You shouldn't have to refarm the same trinket from the same dungeon every five or six months.
