Patch 9.0.5 Offers New Weekly Source of Anima

One of the biggest complaints that players have had so far with
Shadowlands
is the rate at which Anima is acquired. Currently Anima is found in small amounts from boss kills, World Quests, rares and treasures, and similar content, and in slightly larger amounts from some quests, World Bosses, and some elite World Quests. Many have suggested that Callings should reward Anima, something that they don't currently do. One of the core elements of the expansion's story is that there is currently an Anima drought, and that one of our tasks, as members of a Covenant, is to source and deploy Anima. It stands to reason, therefore, that Covenants gifting Anima doesn't really make sense.
The following line from the
Patch 9.0.5 patch notes
is therefore being met with great appreciation:
Once players have recruited the maximum amount of Souls for their Covenant, your weekly quest to rescue Souls from the Maw will now award you with 500 Anima.
The upshot of this is that once your Sanctum has capped out on Souls, you get the same weekly quest but are awarded Anima instead...once Patch 9.0.5 drops...sometime this month. What if you are already capped on Souls? Fret not, in the meantime it seems that we can exceed the cap. So if you are capped, keep on with your quest, get your Souls and Renown, and know that those souls are not wasted.
After the Patch, it is likely that if you have space for any Souls, you will get to keep them, and if not you will get Anima instead, so keep those Souls capped and reap in the Anima!
