New Paracausal Fragment Trinket Updates on the Patch 10.1.5 PTR

This week's PTR build features updates to the previously discovered
Paracausal Fragment trinkets
, including new effects, entirely new trinkets, and a strong hint to their potential drop location in Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5!
Did somebody say...
New and Updated Fragments
Since our last article, two of the previously discovered fragments have further fleshed out special effects, and the now has a fully fleshed out special effect, and we've discovered two new fragments:
The
appears to be an
Azmerloth
version of
Thunderfury
.
The
is an Alliance version of the now Horde specific
, dealing Holy damage with Kingstrike rather than Nature damage with Doomstrike, but otherwise identical.
The
has a new on-use effect allowing players to consume lost souls to transform into a
Scourge Lich
- radiating waves of frost damage and an AoE fear.
The
now has a fully fleshed out effect, allowing healers to radiate a small amount of group-wide healing. Interestingly, it's still the only trinket referred to as anomalous rather than paracausal, though we don't really know if this signifies anything important just yet.
Probably Mega-Dungeon Loot
Players may have noticed that the Fragments now default to epic quality instead of rare, and although they're still only item level 250, there's another hint in this week's build that suggests the trinkets will be looted from the upcoming mega-dungeon. The
and its newly added mirror, the
, now specify that they are only usable by Horde and Alliance players respectively. Given that the mega-dungeon includes a faction specific
Time-Lost Battlefield
encounter, this seems
very
likely to be the source of these powerful trinkets taken out of time.
Catch-Up or Temporary Power?
Exactly how powerful these currently low item level trinkets will be remains to be seen, although it stands to reason that they will fill a similar role to the
from Mechagon or
in Patch 10.0.7 - adding a small amount of mid-tier power inflation for still progressing players, presumably similar to 441-447 item level trinkets from the current highest levels of Ember s of Neltharion content, though not necessarily pure best-in-slot for everyone.
It's also interesting that while these trinkets are unique-equipped, so you can't wear two
at the same time, they are
not
currently exclusive to one another. Whereas Embellishments, Shadowlands legendaries, and other special items are restricted to only wearing a certain number of those items at a time, it currently seems as though players can wear two different Fragments at the same time - meaning a healer could double up on the
and
. This could change though, as it is still on the PTR and players have yet to test these items.
