Legendaries to Recraft for Patch 9.1 - Advice From Wowhead's Class Writers

Patch 9.1 is adding the Shards of Domination system, which involves certain slots of gear having Domination sockets. Due to this, you may want to recraft your Legendary if you've crafted a Legendary on one of these slots. We've asked our Class Writers to give their advice on which slot you should recraft your Legendaries on to prepare for Patch 9.1.

Why Recraft a Legendary for Patch 9.1?
Shards of Domination are powerful "gems" that are coming in Patch 9.1 which will give you powerful bonuses when equipped. However, Shards of Domination can only be placed in special Domination sockets, and these Domination sockets can only show up on 5 slots of gear that drop from the
Sanctum de Domination
raid . The slots that can have Domination Sockets on them are determined by your Armor type:
All
Helms, Shoulders, Chests
have a Domination Socket. The other two item slots have Domination Sockets depending on your armor type:
Cloth: Bracers & Belt
Leather: Gloves & Boots
Mail: Belt & Boots
Plate: Bracers & Gloves
Due to the power of Shards of Domination, you'll likely want to have a Domination Socket in all 5 available slots. Since you can't put a Domination socket on a Legendary, this means that you'll
want to recraft any Legendary that overlaps with a Domination Socket slot
, unless you don't wish to interact with the Shards of Domination system.

It does seem that Blizzard is aware of this, as Legendaries that can currently only be crafted in slots taken up by Domination Sockets will be receiving an additional slot when Patch 9.1 launches. For example,

for Priests is getting a third option of a Neck in 9.1 as both Head and Shoulders have gear with Domination Sockets.
However, this system likely may only exist in Patch 9.1 so if you do craft a new Legendary, make sure to keep your old one in case it becomes useful in the future.

Socketing a Recrafted Legendary

, Blizzard announced that newly crafted Helms, Necks, Bracers, Belts, and Rings Legendaries will automatically be crafted with a socket in Patch 9.1!
