Hello! Welcome to the 247th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
We have a release date for Dragonflight!! WotLK Classic is well underway! Exciting times are ahead for players and goldmakers alike. This week we have another look at Dragonflight professions, check in on gold making in Wrath Classic and start looking at what to do in the interim.
My name is
Samadan
and I'll be your guide through the World of Gold Making!
Dragonflight Release Date, Tokens & Professions
Now that we
have a date
for the release of Dragonflight, we can start to speculate on things to work on between now and then and what can be done to prepare.

Dragonflight on 11/28. 50% XP buff on 10/4. Raid on 12/13
Time to finish what you need to before launch. Rumor is prepatch will be 10/25

Once pre-patch hits, it is likely the gold will be removed from Mission Tables
which gives you a limited time to make the most of them. The XP buff will be great for leveling alts in preparation, but from the look of things in Beta, professions in Dragonflight will need a significant amount of investment per profession to get going in terms of time and money.
Another question often asked around now is
what will happen to the Token Price?
So, dragonflight's release date just got announced, I currently have just enough gold to get enough tokens to buy 1 month of sub and prepurchase dragonflight, is the price more likely to go up and I should buy while I can afford it? Or do you think the price would go down now because of people buying gold to prep and I should wait for the drop? Thanks!
If it was just about Dragonflight tokens would slowly go down up to a week or so before release date, when it would spike.
Problem is, retail gold can be turned into blizz store money, and used to buy other games. The recent spike has to do with classic wotlk (I guess). Players coming back, taping on their retail accounts to buy game time.
So the answer to your question will always be a guess. An educate guess is to take a good look on what else blizzard is going to release before DF. From game expansions to vanity whatever, anything that can be bought in their store can also make token prices go up - the more popular having a bigger effect.
Tldr, I don't know because I don't know what else is on the pipe to be released before DF.
Chances are we won't see a significant drop in Token Price until after Dragonflight releases.
The price of the token won’t drop until DF actually releases. Best time to buy a token will be on week 1-3 of DF. Lots of ppl are gonna be buying gold, so tokens will dip big time. Similar thing happened at the end of BFA and start of shadowlands. If you don’t have the game yet tho, you’re stuck and forced to buy now. It’ll only climb until DF actually launches.
You only have to look at the spikes over time to see a correlation...
Legion
had a great deal of inflation, gold was easy to generate through mission tables and many different methods and declined in preparation for the next expansion.
Once
Battle for Azeroth
hit, the token took a very sharp dip possibly due to race to world first and also the
Brutosaur
costing 5 million gold!
Shadowlands has seen steady inflation again due to many factors - Legendary items, races to world first, mission tables and the general removal of raw gold farms and changes to the auction house.

There are notable releases of other Blizzard games to come and gold in general is likely to be harder to come by in Dragonflight with vendor shuffles, raw gold and mission tables off the menu. Casual players are likely to turn to farming and general play to generate cash. The combined Auction House means commodities, both in terms of consumables and materials means prices are going to be overall lower on both sides.
My prediction is that the token will continue to rise right up until launch and then fall drastically much like it did in the transition from Legion into BfA. Of course, this is still just speculation and we are in uncharted territory with large changes in both AH and Professions completely shaking up the economy.
Looking ahead to professions,
Manthieus
has been doing some research into what could be the next big gold maker and this time looks at an old favourite at the start of expansions - Inscription Decks!
These are usually a great gold maker at the beginning of an expansion as Trinkets are often hard to get naturally in the game and 2 of them can provide quite a significant ilevel boost in the early phase of the expansion. They are going to work slightly differently in Dragonflight.
They don't use Herbs, they use Awakened Essences which are likely to be in high demand, especially Awakened Order.
The Aces are currently considerably rarer to obtain and the others likely to be incredibly cheap.
In order to make a complete deck, crafters will need to burn through a huge number of bundles searching for aces.
For the full explanation, watch the short ~5 minute video*
From a gathering point of view, one which many are likely to turn to as an easy way to make some gold, especially with the new Auction House and rapid sales Herbalism and Fishing are likely to be popular choices.
Kraken Latte
has a video going through their first impressions on how it looks and feels on first glance.
I agree on the video that more secondary specializations and a return of Archaeology would've been really nice this expansion.
Another handy infographic came out recently from
u/Whiskey_Corin
showing which professions need which tools from other professions.
These are all going to be nice little niches to sell on your own particular server depending on competition.
Wrath Prospecting Gold Guide
With the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, many players have returned to the frozen north and adventured once again Northrend. With WotLK Classic comes many new gold making opportunities.
The Lazy Goldmaker
has put together a fantastic guide talking about Prospecting and how to make gold from it..
Wrath is out, and so is goldmaking season. Today we’re taking a deep look at prospecting, specifically Saronite Ore, and the fabled Saronite Shuffle you can do potentially maximize the value of your gems.
Prospecting basics
The basic idea to make gold with prospecting is to buy ore in large quantities and turn it into gems. By going for large volumes you can be fairly certain your yields are close to the actual average yields, which means you can be certain you will actually make a profit. The gems we get can either be sold raw, cut into socketable gems or used to craft other items that require gems. Some of the items crafted with the uncommon gems can be further optimized by disenchanting them to sell the dust and essences, or use them to craft enchants.
I highly recommend looking at the

which includes TSM groups and operations!
