Crucible of Storms, the mini raid which bridges the gap between patch 8.1 and 8.2, releases today and as usual we have detailed strategy guides for both of the new encounters, written by FatbossTV. We've also compiled tips, tricks, and best builds for each specialization, written by our own class guide authors. Overcome N'Zoth's trial by learning what these new bosses do and how to defeat them.
Crucible of Storms Strategy Guides
Our Crucible of Storms boss strategy guides cover each encounter abilities, loot, phase strategies, and role responsibilities in detail. They also include written tips, important mechanics with diagrams, images, and gifs to help you succeed in the new raid.

These guides are authored by
FatbossTV
, long known for their video strategy guides. They began writing raid guides for Wowhead in
Legion
, and have authored Normal, Heroic, Mythic Raid, and Dungeon guides for everything in
Battle for Azeroth
so far.
These guides include details for all raid difficulties, drawn from PTR testing and dungeon journal analysis, and will be updated with more tips and videos as players progress through the Crucible of Storms!
Specialization Tips and Top Builds
Boss guides are great, but some players just want to know what talents, gear, azerite, tricks they should use to have the best chance of success in the new raid, and we have you covered with our Crucible of Storms Raid Tips pages. Each specialization has a page dedicated to optimizing its performance within the new raid, including talent recommendations, gear advice, and the Top Builds widget, courtesy of Warcraft Logs. Once players start defeating bosses in the new raid, the Top Builds widget will automatically compile talents and Azerite traits used by the top performing players for each spec, giving you an idea of what most successful players are doing inside the raid. We'll be revisiting these pages to add new tips and tricks as strategies are formed and once Mythic difficulty releases next week; you can see the latest changes and updates by checking the Changelog at the top of each page.

Where does it come from?
We use the
Warcraft Logs
API to pull data from the top 100 Heroic and Mythic ranks from the most recent patch on Warcraft Logs (currently 8.1.5). We'll start with Heroic difficulty and flip the switch over to Mythic once the bosses are defeated. You can dive into further detail with Warcraft Logs comprehensive
rankings system
to create further breakdowns, compare reports, see group compositions for each kill, and more.
Take a look at our Crucible of Storms Tips pages for each specialization linked below for more information, from there you can click over to the associated gear, talent, azerite, and rotation pages within each guide.

Loot!
Although Crucible of Storms doesn't have any new Azerite, all of the item drops include special buffs, debuffs, shields, damage procs, and some even introduce a negative effect to go along with the corresponding benefit. Our
Crucible of Storms Loot Guide
details all of these new items, or you can take a look at our individual class gear guides for specific info on which spec wants what item from the new raid.
Remember, the Crucible of Storms isn't a full tier and doesn't drop Azerite, so don't forget about our
Battle of Dazar'alor
guides and raid tips!
Raid Tools and Analyzing Your Performance
There are many ways to getting better at raiding, and while understanding the encounter and your specialization's role within it is one of the most important ones, being able to review your performance will help you better understand what is happening, what went right, and what went wrong.
Logging is a powerful tool which allows you to make a record of everything that happened during an encounter.
Warcraft Logs
uses that record to create analytical charts detailing the positioning, damage dealt and taken, who had which buffs and debuffs, even a full real-time replay of the entire encounter. Check out our full
Warcraft Logs Guide
to see what the the number one raiding resource can do for you.
WoWAnalyzer
is more personal. It uses the same Warcraft Logs report to create a detailed analysis of an individual player's performance, with less emphasis on what happened during the encounter and more tailored to improving that specific player's rotation, cooldown use, survivability, and role (tanking, healing, damage dealing). Give our
WoWAnalyzer Guide
a read, and find out how it can help you improve.
Raidbots
is a simulation site, which allows you to simulate your character under a variety of conditions, create stat weights, compare gear choices, talents, and much more. It is a web interface for SimulationCraft, a long-running simulation project maintained by prominent community theorycrafters, made even more accessible through the simplicity of Raidbots format and dedicated servers. See our detailed
Raidbots Guide
to learn more.
Deadly Boss Mods
and
BigWigs
are all-important encounter addons, with customizable alerts, countdowns, and timers to help you preempt and react to important encounter mechanics. Find out more with our
Deadly Boss Mods
and
BigWigs
guides.
Additionally, there are many Addons, WeakAuras, and other tools which can help you improve your gameplay, focus on important encounter mechanics, or just simplify your UI to make it easier to see what's happening during an encounter. All this and more can be found in the Addons and WeakAuras pages contained within each spec guide.
