In beta build 8885, every time I milled for silvery pigment I got either two or three. So one stack of herbs will get you 8-12 silvery pigment.

Currently broken in beta build 8905 and gives you no silvery pigment at all. I reported it as a bug.

Seeing how the previous pigments were changed, odds are good you'll get silvery 75% of the time now and sapphire pigment 25% of time. Despite getting no regular pigment from two milling attempts in 8905, I did get the new rare item once: Iridescent Pollen.

I definitely recommend farming icecap in Winterspring to gather this pigment. There are very few people farming in Winterspring and along with finding Icecap all over, there's a decent amount of mountain silversage. Also, it seems icecap has about a 1 in 2 chance to also mill sapphire pigment, but I could just be lucky!

You can find Mountain Silversage, Dreamfoil, and Golden Sansum in Hellfire Peninsula. I highly recommend farming these herbs there (assuming you are of level). At level 60, you can purchase flying mounts and use them to make your search that much easier.
*Note that you must be level 58 to reach HFP.

I tried farming in felwood, and i have to admit that it's pretty annoying, just want to say it so others won't waste their time there like i did.

There are not that many herbs out there, and when you finally see one it's one of these corrupted <insert flower name here> 'quest flowers' (which are useless to level herbalism).

Edit : After going to Azshara, it is not too bad, but still the quest items are very annoying, but the misleading places where to nodes are in Azshara can be very annoying too when you're on top of some mountain and it appears to be all the way down.

So after all, i don't think it matters too much if you go to Azshara or Felwood.

While it's true that Azeroth zones do have more herb nodes with Silvery Pigment, if you're leveling Inscription then most guides suggest you need two to three times as many Outland herbs as you need of these herbs. By gathering in Hellfire Peninsula, you'll also work towards the quota of Nether Pigment at the same time. I found that by the time I had gathered my number of 100 Silvery Pigment herbs, I had collected 150 Nether Pigment herbs.

Currently, Swamp of Sorrows seems to be the best place to farm herbs for this type of pigment. Both Golden Sansam and Sorrowmoss (the old Plaguebloom) are readily available in large quantities, so probably your best bet to get large quantities in a short amount of time. Mind you, the mobs are in the 50-55 level range.

Edit: after having actually farmed in the Swamp of Sorrows, I can definitely recommend this zone to anyone wanting to farm herbs for silvery pigments. The herbs are ridiculously close to each other, you won't have to ride for more than 10 seconds to find another node. Within 30 minutes I was able to gather enough pigments to make 2 stacks of ink.

Yes, I went out to Swamp of Sorrows on my Druid in flight form and was able to collect 5 stacks of herbs in less that 20 minutes. The herbs are VERY close together and this is by far the BEST place to farm for this pigment.

Out of experience, and to avoid people choosing any other zone due to comments above;

Simply farm your herbs in Swamp of Sorrows, you will know why once you get there, the gather rate is insane.

For those of you looking for the best possible location for any herbs that can be milled into Silvery Pigment, consider this:

Dreamfoil: Blasted Lands: 143 nodes
Golden Sansam: Swamp of Sorrows: 273 nodes
Icecap: Winterspring: 400 nodes
Mountain Silversage: Winterspring: 224 nodes
Sorrowmoss: Swamp of Sorrows: 265 nodes

Winterspring obviously has the highest chance of success in your node hunt with 624 nodes in the zone.
Swamp of Sorrows has 538 nodes but given that the terrain is flatter you might have an easier time if you do not yet have a flying mount.

I just came back from a farming trip in Winterspring.

Addons used:

GatherMate2
GatherMate2_ Data
Routes (draw lines beetween nodes)
FarmHud (turn minimap into a hud for farming ore /herb)

Time elapsed: 36min (from point A to point A)

Herbs gathered:

186 Icecap
101 Mountain Silversage

Which I milled into 158 Silvery Pigments & 32 Sapphire pigments.
All of this gave me 79 Shimmering Inks & 32 Inks of the Sky.

So yes Winterspring is really a good spot for farming Silvery Pigments.
