I caught a few Killi tacheté while fishing in pools in The Coiled Isle.

They dropped from:
4 out of 10 Eau saulée pools
1 out of 10 Curiosité maudite pools
1 out of 9 Béryl bouillonnant pools

I had the best luck fishing open water near the Tokka's Folly island. I actually got 300 fishing skill while doing the daily quest for these.

For something that's meant to be "exceedingly common in open water", the drop rate is pathetic.

The Killi tacheté started dropping after my fishing level was 100 more rapidly. At 150 I started getting them back to back. It took me around 200 casts. Between L30-90 8 catches L100-150 45 catches. I fished for them directly around the tiny island.

I flew around and tried fishing in all the schools as the journal said they were "common" - only got 2 Spotted Killifish out of 20 schools. Saw a comment that recommended open water at Tokka's Folly (where the quest giver is) and was able to catch the remaining fish pretty quickly. I'm level 300 fishing.

Fish on the island with the fishing quest hub.

I don't like that all the fish for these dailies seem to be dependent on having 300 fishing skill to get easily (according to the comments I see), because this is gating story content (side-story, but still story) so there's going to be lots of people (like myself) who don't do fishing much who're kinda being strong armed into needing to do it. And that wouldn't be so bad if timely completion didn't depend on maximum fishing skill.

How has nobody mentioned that this can be bought on the AH? They are like 2 gold each.
