If you can't currently learn something from the item, you'll get the message;

There is nothing left to invent and you cannot be convinced otherwise.

You may still have recipes to learn but require points in certain specializations.

For example, to get the recipes for profession gear, you need to unlock the Profession Gear specialization under Engineered Equipment, then your Comprehensibly Organized Ideas will give new recipes.

If you want to max your Tas de débris rouillés yield, keep at least one invention unlearned! (so anything marked 'Invention' in the Engineering window). This includes prototypes and those learned from Idées intelligibles. For details, see the spoiler tag.

Once you learn all inventions, they no longer drop from Tri des matériaux recyclés. This sort of makes sense, but Démontage d’invention also gives about 15 Tas de débris rouillés on average so you lose out on a lot of scrap (which in turn give parts to use or sell). Démontage d’invention takes exactly two minutes a stack at Crafting Speed 75%, so in the long run this is definitely worth it. Tri des matériaux recyclés will give some leftover scrap (and notes in case you still miss patterns from Idées intelligibles) instead of inventions but this pales in comparison to the thousands you get from disassembling.

I can now first hand confirm this: wanting to max out my knowledge from First Crafts the only pattern I'm now missing is Capsule de sauvetage défectueuse: Inventer and Tri des matériaux recyclés give me Prototype : capsule de sauvetage défectueuse consistently. If you go down to just one invention just bank it to prevent learning it by accident. Every other invention will now be Prototype méconnaissable that you can Démontage d’invention at will.

I'm not sure if this effective nerf is intended but it seems to be, considering the 'leftover' from scouring after you learn all inventions.

Engineers can learn 75 new recipes as of The War Within's launch, 50 of which are gated behind Discovery mechanics.

Discovery Mechanics - How it Works

Engineers get started with Tri des matériaux recyclés, taught by their profession trainer.
Tri des matériaux recyclés will quickly allow the engineer to discover the profession's other essential skills, standard parts, and be a rare source of prototypes .
They will quickly learn Inventer, which is a guaranteed* prototype each day. (*While supplies last)

Prototypes are single-use versions of engineer recipes which teach that recipe when used.

IMPORTANT: Once an Engineer learns the recipe, they will never receive the prototype version again.

Démontage d’invention can be used on unwanted or excess prototypes (including Prototype méconnaissable), generating up to 10 Tas de débris rouillés and Notes griffonnées à la hâte.
Notes griffonnées à la hâte create Idées intelligibles, which can only be used to learn Engineering recipes. Neither item has any vendor value or other uses.

Discovery Mechanics - How it Doesn't Work

The discovery flavor and mechanics are built around 3 abilities: Tri des matériaux recyclés, Inventer, and Démontage d’invention.
If an engineer learns all 14 recipes linked to prototypes, they will never receive a prototype again.
Instead of Prototype méconnaissable, they directly receive Notes griffonnées à la hâte.

What are the impacts of losing the prototype mechanic?

Démontage d’invention ceases to function.
After the initial discovery/skill-up phase, Inventer also ceases to have any function.
Since prototypes (recyclable) are replaced with Notes griffonnées à la hâte (not recyclable), Tri des matériaux recyclés becomes a less efficient source of parts.

How many Idées intelligibles does an engineer actually need?

28 recipes require Idées intelligibles to discover them.

How the Engineer allocates their Engineering Knowledge is also important, since three different sub-specialties control access to discoveries..

What about when you have invented everything?
There is light at the end of the tunnel!
When you have discovered the final recipe requiring Idées intelligibles , you will cease to receive Notes griffonnées à la hâte completely.
Tri des matériaux recyclés will now have a chance to create the finished version of prototyped recipes, such as the tinker modules and potion bombs.
Inventer will have a 100% chance to produce the finished version of one of the prototyped recipes.

There are 14 prototypes, plus the Prototype méconnaissable which can be turned into one of the fourteen. Once you've learned all 14, Scour Through Scrap/Invent goes straight to Hastily Scrawled Notes.

i just noticed today i was getting instead of the soulbound one. those are warbounds so im guessing since i have nothing new to learn its a way to help alts learn recipe faster ?
