This'll place a big ping on the mini map and full map for around 4 seconds, then will leave behind a big red X on the mini map in that location for about 5 seconds after the ping fades. The latter X will only show on a mini-map, and if you hover over it then it'll say "Alliance/Horde Signal Flare". The signal flare animation itself looks like a large blue flare for alliance, it IS red for Horde, thanks WoWIna for confirming! ~~may be red for horde, would like for a horde to confirm if anyone is sure).~~

This has been pretty good in places like Alterac Valley for me, if you want people to be aware of somewhere or see a huge group moving towards your location, combine it with a /yell macro and you have a surprisingly effective distress signal that's quite satisfying when people come to help because of it.

This is also not a consumable, you can reuse it as many times as you like without it ever being consumed.

Is BoP, so it needs to be crafted by you, but once learned can be used by any char on your account, even those without Engineering
