They may have changed the spelling to make these candles unique to WOW since they are not your normal, small, votive candles.
OR
Maybe someone has a relative that is associated in some way with, or is familiar with the wire and cable company named Voltive and thought it was a good fit?

Accidental or not, either way we are looking at an item that may remind us of something in our world but has its own size and reason for use so it deserves its own name in Azeroth.

Most of us that have played this game for so many years are used to Blizzard inventing names for what we find in Azeroth; especially when they are similar yet intentionally different from what we find in other worlds. After you turn your computer off, you can but you don't usually walk around using a votive candle as a flashlight or helmet light.
