The launcher can be picked up at most quest hubs in Stormheim, like Hrydshal or Talonrest. There's no requirement.

I did not get this from any quest hub, it was a drop. Now the thing is your meant to use this item to get into the keep in stormheim where the doors are locked. I have yet to even see how this thing works, because there is 'no click to use' notice on the item, and i've seen no place outside the perimeter of the keep where this item could be used.

My understanding is that there is some sort of quest or chain quest that will eventually allow you to use this item, and since wowhead has no idea how to start of this chain quest, it makes it that more difficult. Even more so if your trying to do the Leatherworking quest Vestment Opportunity which requires you to get into said keep. Who ever designed the locked keep, really needs to get those doors open, it's just plainly ridiculous!

Most likely a bug, but you can press escape after the launcher cast time has finished to bypass the extra wait time that occurs before your character is actually launched.

One location to pick this up is at Lorna's Watch, Stormheim /way 37.39 63.71. Just to the right of the tent leaning against a crate.

You can also follow the starting quest chain in Stormheim and a few quest into the zone you will also find it in another location.

This item can be safely deleted and you'll still be able to interact with the hooks.

I'm on the grapple launchers destroyed quest and, like sivia, it can't get it to do diddly. I click on it and nada happens.

Important note: The hooks can be used at range. If you see a hook somewhere, click it and you'll get dragged to it. Range seems to be 40ish yards or so.

This item is later required to break the 3 Seals in the Wardens quest chain to get to the final quest to obtain Sargerite keystone from Vault of Wardens!

I found this item quite useful on 2 quests, The Mystery of Dreyrgrot and A Stone of Blood.

Both quests are done on the ships just off shore and each ship has 1 or 2 of these hooks. Its how you travel from ship to ship easily, rather than swimming. You click on the the hook on the ship you want to go to and it pulls you right to it! It has a 40 yd range so you easily grapple from ship to ship. I imagine that in other areas that have the hooks, this will be quite useful! Hope this clarifies things.

Obtaining the Lance-grappin forge-foudre

Easiest Option:
As soon as you land at Skyfire Triage Camp (or any time after that), follow the next three waypoints. Note that you should be mounted and will need to run around/past two Tempête d’Eau-Pâles between the 1st and 2nd waypoints, and more before getting to the Lance-grappin forge-foudre. At point 2, you will be making a left turn at an acute angle.

Alternate approach to getting grapple:

From the Stormheim Insertion Point at Weeping Bluffs you can go downhill on the eastern side of Stonescar Gorge and get to a covered bridge (42.9, 59.0) that lets you cross to the W side of the gorge, and you can get to Lorna's Watch for the FP (37.4, 64.0), and the (Stormheim only) Lance-grappin forge-foudre (37.4, 63.8).

FYI, nearby the covered bridge there is an open bridge (43, 59) which will take you towards the entry to Hrydshal

If you wish, when at Lorna's Watch, follow the road SW thru Kingsfall Pass and then to Suramar.
The Suramar/Stormheim Border is at (64.0, 34.6) and the Crimson Thicket FP is at (64.3, 42.0).

While Suramar is strictly a Level 110 Zone, you should be able to keep to the road with no more than a few brief loops off the side of it to avoid mobs. Once at the Crimson Thicket FP, you will be able to safely fly out to other FPs you've obtained including Dalaran. I have done this at Level 100 on several classes without trouble. Ride fast and avoid the L110 mobs.

Pro Tip:

If you double, triple click on a Grapple Point using your launcher, you will find yourself latching on much quicker than if you click a Grapple Point once.

For Horde players, the easiest place to pick this up is directly south of the Forsaken Foothold after you go up the elevator. I didn't record the exact coordinates when I picked it up, but it's around (37,32).

I'm finding that other players have a much greater grappling distance than I, but I can't find any mention on how to increase the grappling launcher's reach. As an example, in the quest Pesty Nests I watch some ppl grapple entirely across the canyon, but if I stand on their landing hook and try to reach their starting point hook, it doesn't show bright yellow, so can't repeat what they've done. Any suggestions?

Not all of the grapple points are accessible from within Haustvald.

There are some that appear in range do not accept the grapple, but instead you end up grappling another nearby grapple point. One point that is accessible from inside is on the north side and is really close to the quest giver Nicholo Swiftfuse, but your exit is blocked by a stone too big to jump over. Two more grapple points can be accessed a little east of Nicholo. These are visible from inside Hausvald, but accessible only from Nicholo's side.

The grapple launcher uses an unusable blue reskin of Jette-lance brutal de Gar'an, if any hunters want such a weapon for transmog.

OK I have started the quest line in Stormheim a long time ago & am now back to this toon he does not have this item and needs it for the DH quest even thou it says optional it wont let me turn in the quest without the item. WHERE CAN I FIND ONE for the horde side?

Blizzard, please explain why this has not mode the "toy" list yet?

Given a bunch of random stuff has already been added to the toy list, I don't see why so much other crap has to sit in my bank taking up space, instead of being a toy that any alt can get some use out of. Such items currently cluttering up my bank that should really be given toy status include:

Corrupted Primal Obelisk it's Draenor only anyway.
Carved Drinking Horn We have plenty of health toys, why not mana?
Obsidian Frostwolf Petroglyth Minor Rested XP Buff*
Flight Master's Whistle usable for known flight points
Oralius' Whispering Crystal tired of getting this on every alt.
Repurposed Fel Focuser same, BFA upgrade of above**.
Brawler's Bottomless Draenic Strength Potion. currently serves no purpose, but the free slot would be nice for when the Areana returns
Anti-Doom Broom what was this even for? lol
Blazing Sigil of Ordos currently a stack item, easily changable to a toy
Thunderlord Grapple Limited zone use but it's not a quest specific item.
Automated Critter Defense Cannon Seriously why do they not make this stuff as toys to begin with? Has 10 charges currently

*Found out checking it on Wowhead, I never got to use it. Dunno if it is a consumable, or reusable, but given it's only rested xp, it could work as a toy, I believeit only provides one bar anyway.
**For the price at the time (rep and a ton of currency), this should have been account wide anyway. I still use this in SL lol
