Balance Druid Rotation Guide - Midnight

Balance Druid Rotation in Midnight

Eclipse usage: Éclipse is a 32 second cooldown, letting you enter either Éclipse solaire or Éclipse lunaire depending on your previously cast builder. Casting Colère makes the button enter Éclipse solaire and casting Feu stellaire makes the button enter Éclipse lunaire. Optimizing time inside Éclipse is important to your damage as a Balance Druid, and you want to overlap this effect with other short cooldowns like Force de la nature if you're playing Keeper of the Grove or Fureur d’Élune if you're playing Elune's Chosen.

Spread DoTs: Our DoT effects in Éclat lunaire and Éclat solaire provide a substantial damage gain due to the number of ticks from your DoTs interacting with Etoiles filantes. During Mythic+ encounters, you should start a pull spreading Éclat lunaire on as many targets as possible, prioritizing the mobs with the most HP. After the mobs are sufficiently stacked, you slam a Éclat solaire so it affects everything and then continue into your cooldown windows.

Always Be Casting: Arguably the most important part of playing any caster is to Always Be Casting. Balance Druid's spenders Éruption stellaire and Météores are instant casts which make them very useful when dealing with mechanics that force movement. What separates an average Balance Druid from a great one is recognizing the moments where you can stand still and build up Puissance astrale in order to have spare casts of your spenders. Charge sauvage is also very good for helping with movement.

The Midnight Season 2 tier set buff Clarté d’Akil’zon amplifies one of the essential parts in the Balance Druid's rotation; pooling Puissance astrale and preparing for your Eclipse windows. Spending Astral Power at the end of your Eclipse can potentially be a very minor gain, but you also want to consider having Éruption stellaire available for movement.

You should treat Eclipse as a damage cooldown and apply the standard rules you would on any other damage cooldown. This means to press it with as much resource available as possible while not overcapping the cooldown, and trying to pair it together with your other cooldowns.

The same logic also applies with what spells you want to cast inside your Eclipse. Spells like Force of Nature, Éclat solaire, Éclat lunaire and Fury of Elune do not really provide any upfront damage by themselves, so you want to avoid using globals on these inside of your biggest cooldown windows, with the exception of whenever you play Fury of Elune with the Lunaison talent where you would just send it off cd and plan your other cooldown windows around it.

Entering any Eclipse or pressing Celestial Alignment/Incarnation resets your current Solstice to 6 seconds no matter what your previous duration was.

Members of the Dreamgrove discord developed this cooldown planner tool including the many CDR options in the Balance Druid tree. This tool can be pretty handy if you are interested in seeing how they interact with each other or want to plan cooldowns for an upcoming boss.

example

You can hold a charge of Alignement céleste at any time to better line up with a mechanic as long as you are not sitting on 2 charges.

Remember that for , the talent Contrôle du Rêve lets you hold any use of Force de la nature, Alignement céleste/Incarnation : Appelé d’Élune and Convoquer les esprits for up to 15 seconds and will reduce the cooldown depending on how long it was held. This opens up for flexibility in your cooldown windows, where you can hold on to the ability in order to use it for specific mechanics in a fight.

Have an idea of what is going to happen later in the fight. Be aware of what mechanics are coming, and then make a decision about your positioning and how much Astral Power you need to have available if you get targeted by a mechanic. You can also use instant casts like Éruption stellaire during your Charge sauvage animation!

Éclipse can be a really good tool to help you with movement, and some fights can allow you to hold on to a charge of Eclipse if it means you can maintain full uptime during the mechanic, by using the instant casts from Feux ascendants. Keep in mind that you still have to pool resources for the Eclipse windows!

Recognize and take advantage of situations where you can plant and cast Feu stellaire or Colère. These moments are valuable, and you want to avoid micro moving too much and getting gaps in your casts!

If you want to get an easy view of your casting uptime, the Timeline feature on the WoWAnalyzer website is pretty good. If you have a log of your character from Warcraftlogs then you can paste the link into the website and navigate to your character. You will get a warning that the spec is not supported, but if you are only using the Timeline feature you can ignore this warning. There are a few other useful tidbits on here, like a count of how much Astral Power you wasted during the encounter and how active you were during your cooldown windows.

There's a confusing point about the m+ build. On the overview, you show an Elune's Chosen build and on the "talent builds" it also shows the same Elune's Chosen. However, on the "rotations" page, it says "Bear in mind, current recommendation in all content is Keeper of the Grove." and the link for the m+ build at the top of the page shows icons for Keeper of the Grove, but when you click on build, it's the Elune's Chosen build. Which is correct?

Hi, first I want to thank you for the guide!

But I did want to point out, that as someone super new to druid, it would been extremely helpful if in the "Options" in the rotation section where you select which talents you have for an updated rotation, if you would actually put the spell name of what it is rather than "Trees," "Mushrooms" and "Moons."

Again though, thank you so much for the guide it's helped me out a lot.

Would you mind adding what "pandemic" means in this guide? It assumes that the person reading it is aware of fan-made terminology that isn't present in the actual game, which is odd when this is a guide to teach someone the basics of balance druid's DPS rotation.

Commentaire de MalenInsekt

Why is Moonfire not present in the Convoke the Spirits opener? Is it because it's pretty much guaranteed to be cast by Convoke The Spirits? Is there any chance it doesn't cast?

Also, in the Incarnation opener there is a note that says refresh Sunfire before cooldowns. Why is moonfire not also refreshed before cooldowns?

Commentaire de HoochIsCrazy

Could you replace Celestial Alignment with Incarnation: Chosen of Elune as that is what it is now? I was very confused, at first.
