Interesting and Useful Benthic Gear Effects

Dégâts aux aberrations - Provided by Benthic Belts of every armor type. This increases your damage dealt to Aberrations by 2%. Orgozoa and Za'qul are both bosses in The Eternal Palace raid that are tagged as Aberrations.

Navigation intra-océan - One of the effects on Benthic Bracers available to every armor type. Increases swim speed by 5% which is a very small benefit to the Béhémoth des flots noirs encounter in The Eternal Palace raid, which takes place entirely underwater.

Cape de lève-tempête azsh’ari provides access to the Murloc Trader's Réserve de marchand. This adds an additional item that can be purchased daily by the Murloc Traders and adds an additional layer of trading items for all the vendors. Among the possible new items added is the Étalon des marées cramoisi mount which also awards the achievement Cachette de Mrrl.

Update: (as of patch 8.2.0.30774) I upgraded a Benthic wrist on the PTR up to level 420. Here is the (current) cost:

385 -> 400 20 manapearls
400 -> 405 10 manapearls
405 -> 410 15 manapearls
410 -> 415 25 manapearls
415 -> 420 40 manapearls
420 -> 425 80 manapearls

So it takes a total of 190 Prismatic Manapearls to upgrade one piece of (non-Azerite) gear from 385 to 425.

This look good for gearing up my multiple alts so they can do stuff and I can enchant their stuff without worrying about better gear upgrades quickly making it obsolete. It annoy me and prevent me from actually doing so.

I was wondering why it's called benthic, and I assume it's a reference to that (as well as a play on "mythic"). Figured others might enjoy that little bit of trivia.

I've heard that benthic gear can sometimes have sockets, but how often is that? And is it better to use a piece of benthic armor with a socket, or one with the effect I want? Is it better to wait until i get the perfect piece with both a socket and the preferred effect, or is it ok to just take what I get and ignore the socket?

While "technically" you can only upgrade Azerite pieces to 415 you still get the +5 iLvL for the center ring to give you a 420 iLvl piece of gear.

Outdated guide. You can buy these from vendors since at least 6 months back. No special requirements, vendor is always up.

The initial purchase of purple Benthic gear for 5 manapearls at level 50 is quite a bargain. However the upgrades are just a waste of manapearls since they really do little enhancement.
