Just finished reading the new Ciaphas Cain book:
The Greater Good.
Series seems to be on the down slope I'm sorry to say.

I never could get into those, but I don't really enjoy any non-Dan-Abnett 40k book.

Finished reading the new Imperial Guard novel
Fire Caste
by Peter Fehervari. Very good book. A mix of Heart of Darkness with definite overtones of Dantes Inferno, and while the former is given a fair number of nods the latter is more subtle. Despite this it is very much a warhammer 40k book, and the author owns the story very well giving us interesting if depressing characters, and a deep plot set in a jungle world. The theme seems to be degeneration, and seeing not only the human trend towards this, but also the way that the Tau themselves can degenerate without their Ethereals around was very interesting to see.
Overall, I highly recommend it, even if one doesn't normally read Warhammer books.

And time for the madness....just started re-reading the entire Shannara universe; on Running with the Demons now, then going to go through it chronologically for the world of Shannara.

I'm looking to get into a new series but cant quite find ones to my taste. I mainly prefer Young Adult that contains paranormal or horror themes. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

Above. The Dresden Files is one of the best supernatural series out there.
Very , Very good. Plus there are fourteen (fifteen?) books to sink your teeth in to get caught up, so a good few months worth of reading.
I also highly recommend the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne. They tend to be quick reads, but they have a hefty dose of humor thrown in, and they encapsulate every imaginable pantheon or theology you can think of under one 'roof'.
