To help the Fury Warrior ain't gonna spell reflect idea, it could also be talent based. For example, a Death Knight might get "Reduce X amount of damage through Anti-Magic-Shell" while Unholy Death-Knights alone would get "Interrupt a spell with your ghoul's Gnaw ability X amount of times."

We had any news from the guys trying LUA to see if it's possible?
I probably won't be able to do much until this weekend.
I wonder if it would be possible to commission something like this? If so, I'd be willing to donate some money toward the cause.

Heh, actually, the Fury warrior example was my defence for suggesting spec-based achievements to begin with, if you go back and read my post.

I would like this IF all class achievements can be completed in normal difficulty dungeons. That alone SHOULD keep this from being a barrier to getting groups for heroics/raids.
Also the hunter one on the first page about fd should be closer to drop xx threat using the fd ability (not to get drop aggro because then a hunter would need to TAKE aggro to get the achie)

AND THEN, we need to make sure that it can't be reverse-engineered to allow the bads to fake achievements.
I had not thought about that. If you code it, someone will hack it - and that would negate the purpose. :-/ So on top of the workload required to make it, it could turn out to be broken and rendered somewhat pointless.
Perhaps the better solution, then, is to show as much support as possible for the idea directed toward Blizzard, and see if they can implement it into the actual game interface?
I will say this: All of the officers in my guild (and many of the regular members) love the idea.

Ultimately, I think it's well worth pushing for still. I just don't think that this is ever going to be viable as a be-all-and-end-all addon to show player skill whilst killing off GS.
Oh, agreed. I don't think anyone expects this to be a foolproof measure of skill. Only one thing is a foolproof measure of skill - observational experience - and there's no way to automate that.

Few ideas here for possible achievements - just want to get them recorded so I don't lose them:
Death Knight
General
Shell Shocked
: Absorb X total magic damage using Anti-Magic Shell.
Merely a Setback
: Raise X allies using Raise Ally. Only allies raised during a successful encounter (i.e., not a wipe) count toward this achievement.
A Whole Bag of Shhh
: Interrupt X spell casts using Mind Freeze and/or Strangulate.
Get Over Here!
: Use your Death Grip to pull X enemies into melee range.
Blood
Got it on Tap
: Heal yourself for X total health using Rune Tap.
